  1. Do you mean the one in West Dulwich? Clive Rd?

Whenever I've complained about the staff shortages and lines spilling out onto the pavement, the overstretched staff including the branch manager have said "Complain. We need more staff." And what about people without the ability to reach the nearest post offices? According to their spiel, their "priority is to maintain Post Office services to the local community." Bollocks.
  3. Threat of closure? Since when? Only found out about the strike when I arrived there this afternoon with my letters & parcels and read the sign on the firmly shut doors :( Hopped it to the Village where it was nice & quiet :)
  4. The pop up concept utilising one of the vacant properties in and around the area may suit your friend (however the commercial kitchen logistics may prove difficult, but not impossible).

Higher prices?! Alternatives are very nice but I would welcome more something that catered for a larger demographic rather than focussing on the more conspicuous 'affluent'. The long established local folk deserve decent value for their buck. Re: chains - generally don't do them, but had something to eat at a Carluccio's this week. A big thumbs up and they have an entire gluten free menu. For a chain, they seem to be getting it right.
  6. Following Twirly's post above. . .since when has it become acceptable to drive up the wrong side of East Dulwich Rd along Goose Green to cut everyone else off at the lights (@ CP Rd intersection)?
  7. 0438 this morning. Great :( Whatever happened to the 'silent aircraft initiative'?

  9. Absolutely. After 15 years of relative domestic bliss, the house next door was converted to a hostel by the unscrupulous landlord without any consultation. It's very profitable, attracting huge funding from local authorities. It took the neighbours, with help of the police and our local councillors 18 months to have it shut down and finally put an end to the drugs, violence (regular police intervention) and anti social behaviour. Hope your research has a positive outcome for you, Girl82. 10. Indeed, LondonMix et al. These all too common outbursts seem inherently inappropriate. Misguided patriotism, jingoism, whatever you want to call it. Given that Boston has a huge student population, it isn't surprising that large swathes of revellers look like 20 somethings, but what is worrying is that these are arguably educated people who, rather than showing restraint, informing themselves and assessing things rationally, are behaving like the Red Sox have just won the World Series, (which of course is only a North American competition). And then there's the nonchalant pig ignorance. The need for the ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United States to declare publicly that his country is different from Chechnya and the comments to this article speak volumes. 11. Me thinks not. Caps lock = RAGE PS Which one's Robin Crookshank's? I guess I can wait til it snows & see which house has been ploughed.
  12. UNICEF have a "Change for Good" programme with various airlines such as BA & American Airlines. Stuff any coins in any currency into the envelope provided and the crew collect them. So, you can save them up & offload them on your next trip.
  13. The festival atmosphere, scenes of jubilation and chants of "U.S.A" on the streets of Boston. Does this reflect a malaise at the heart of the American psyche?
  14. I wonder what home brewed Brazilian vinho's like . . . I have colleagues in Merton, Wimbledon and beyond who use this forum. A victim of its own success.
  15. Scorsese was dining at the table behind ours in a restaurant in NYC. He looked distinctly like a Marx brother - as in Groucho not Karl. Trim. Eye curtains are so unbecoming.
  16. Our children experienced both and the 'privileged' schools won hands down. They flourished, were nurtured and benefited in innumerable ways. Your children's impression is also so positive - go with that. In any school there is the chance that they will be picked on at some stage - some children can be cruel. In fact, our daughter was dreadfully bullied at the local school and not at the 'privileged' one that had a holistic approach to education and the welfare of each child was truly their paramount consideration, and not just hype. Btw, our children still have friends from both schools they attended. Imho, grab the opportunity.
  17. It's a tight squeeze around there. Our mirror was damaged so we always push them inwards. We also leave glovebox empty & open and no coins or satnav apparatus laying about so minimising temptation for scum - though if they're hellbent on vandalising, not much you can really do.

Dear oh dear bbw. What a ridiculous and ageist assertion - that a 60 something is all but senile. You're probably amazed that Miriam is - gasp! - able to operate a computer, use search engines and bewildered as to how she managed to use this forum. Glad to see you were proven very much mistaken but moreover, that the mystery of the letter has been resolved and Miriam is not only alive but seems to have her faculties intact. Welcome Miriam.
  20. The solitary Coal not Dole flyer posted near ED Station looked quite forlorn. . .
  21. Any idea as to the reason for the latest East Dulwich Rd roadworks including the steel pole that has emerged, opposite Tesco? Is it supposed to alleviate the traffic? If so, how so?
  22. As you're asking. . ."It started in Lewisham and ended in PRP" according to a reliable undisclosed source. Make of that what you will.
  23. Guardian Angels, Keeping It Safe - by the ATMs :))
