  1. We had our car jacked up and catalytic convertor stolen last night. Someone also recently in Whately Road. Looks like BMW cars (possibly Series 1 specifically?) are being targetted. There is almost nothing that can be done about it. The whole incident was over in minutes. By the time we had realsied that an odd noise was happening in the street, all we saw was our car in the air, suddenly drop down and two people jump into a car and speed off. I believe you can get physical systems to lock the convetor into place. Looks like that is the only way to go. Very distressing.
  2. Hi. No, no resolution. And yes, we can still hear it. Especially at night and first thing in the morning, which is probably more to do with less other background noise. We are North Cross Road end of Ulverscroft Road. Vic :)
  3. Hi. Yes, we can hear a low hum. We are at the Actress Pub end of Ulverscroft Road. There is an electric sub-station at the Lordship Lane end of North Cross Road. The hum has increased in intensity over the last five or six weeks. I have heard it in the past, but it was more audible late at night when everything else was quiet. We can now hear it all the time.
  4. Hi Joanne. Great to meet you too. Look forward to the private view. Vic :)
  5. My partner and I went to the JP Art Gallery pop up today - in the old Green Cuisine Cookshop on Lordship Lane. Really exciting to see such a large space full of great work. We need more shops like this in ED! Really exciting work by some interesting and reputable artists. We particularly like the work by Victoria Kiff. Beautifully rendered portraits in a very original style. The gallery is only here until 13th May and we highly recommend that you check it out. Vic :)
  6. Great news. Looking forward to more updates. :)
  7. Members preview night at the East Dulwich Picturehouse last night was a complete success. All three screens have far exceeded my expectations and the architectural design of the new interior creates the perfect atmosphere for a pre-film drink and bite to eat. At last East Dulwich has a cultural hub and judging by the crowd last night, it's going to be fun place to meet and hang out. Bring on the official opening next Thursday.

  9. Check out and 'like' the East Dulwich Picturehouse Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/EastDulwichPH?fref=ts They have recently posted up some photos of the building work development. Vic :)
  10. It was great to meet some of the people behind the Picturehouse Cinema group on Saturday at the North Cross Road market. They are going to be there every Saturday outside 15 North Cross Road, so pop down and find out more about joining the membership scheme (the currently available founder membership is huge value for money) and generally find out all about the exciting new cinema. I'm not certain if this will be happening every week, but I did see someone walk off with a free novel and DVD! Vic :)
  11. The Picturehouse cinema group (and I hope East Dulwich Picturehouse will be part of the scheme once it opens later in the year) have partnered with ourscreen which allows anyone to choose a film, a date and time and create their own cinema performance. A fantastic opportunity for us all to be a part of shaping the local culture. Check out more details at: https://www.ourscreen.com Vic :)

  13. East Dulwich Picturehouse tweeted 19 minutes ago that so far 157 people have become founder members, so looks like there is still plenty of opportunity to become one of the first 1000 people to be included in the specially commissioned art installation within the new building. Vic :)
  14. Jeremy - Hi! Yes, there are a couple of other threads that talk about the cinema, but they were back when it was speculation and rumour. I thought I would start a new thread now that it's a reality. Especially as the other threads are now focusing more on discussion of cinemas in other locations. All - Just to be clear, I have nothing to do with the cinema itself. I'm just a punter who has been a regular attendee to Picturehouse cinemas for the last 15 years or so and am simply incredibly excited that I am soon to have one just around the corner from my house! Vic :)
  15. And here are details of how to join the East Dulwich Picturehouse membership scheme. There is currently an extra incentive as the first 1000 founder members will have their names included in a specially commissioned art installation within the new building. http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/cinema/East_Dulwich_Picturehouse/ Click on the 'Become a Founder Member' box to be taken to the page to join. Vic :)
