  1. I thought the stall on Sunday was really pretty and a lot of effort had gone in to it. I have a SMBS/Cheese Block reusable bag. I had to spend ?70 on cheese last Christmas to get one of those!!
  2. do both if you can. we did and it worked well, the ones at Kings produced some much more useful stuff and were a better introduction. We went to the "nazi"_ she was a bit odd and at the meet up post births made some people feel weird about not being totally natural. Saying that the NCT tries soooo hard to not be the stereotype everyone thinks, but sadlyt that teacher undermines those efforts. The Kings ones are socially engineered I think, and we made some great friends there. Even if you don't like your NCT class, the support afterwards from the "tea group" network is great.
  3. hello I am interested but probably won't be able to make Tuesday. Re Jerusalem, think given the proximity of Peckham Rye, and the mural at Goose Green swings, Jerusalem has to be incorporated somewhere for historical/literary purposes. How cool to have a new WI in the very place that William Blake (author of Jerusalem) had his vision (Peckham Rye, as immortalised in the mural by Goose Green Swings).
  4. the card shop near Somerfield is called Greetings. He truly is a very nice man, and his wife is lovely too. I think a lot of the places listed are OK, but i think Greetings has done great customer service by recognizing its customer base and responding, ie they refurbished to a lay out that allows those of us with prams to get round. plus he holds the door open for you - he can do this from behind his til. Hurray for Greetings man. And the forum does work. Despite the mixed press re Rayon, I went in there this week just to see what it was like. It is weird!
  5. yep it's true the site plans have been updated and where it used to say "cafe" it now says "starbucks". And when I stand looking through the windows in the hoarding with the small boy who is obsessed by builders I can't help but think that the section with the floor to ceiling windows MUST be the place for a skinny latte and a bun. Think the new store is looking very lovely.
  6. Think confusing 2 different places. Karavan is being tarted up by the same owner, whether with the same type of stock remains to be seen. The old antiques shop Le Chandelier is going to be a salon de the. We look forward to welcoming Dulwich Mum to the top end of the lane. Nice to have somewhere to stop for refreshments between the fishmongers and the butchers.
  7. I heard a rumour that the LB to Victoria overland services were to be axed, due to overcrowding on the system. So maybe not on the map so less people notice when it is axed? Good point to raise on "Meet the Managers" day at LB. Twenty or so managers all suited and booted, ready to talk trains and everyone is in such a rush to get to work they don't stop. Had a lot of chats with them when the ticket office at Tulse Hill was closed and they STILL only had one bloke in the kiosk at LB to buy a ticket from. Realy sorry that I have no source re the axing of lines, I know it's annoying. It may have been one of Tessa Jowell's missives, or in a paper? Hopefully someone else will know more.
  8. Dear dulwichmum, I have only used the cafe there once, and lowered the average age considerably. It was full of old men reading the Racing Post, and breast feeding discreetly was very much the order of the day. I wonder if there are less RP readers now it is an internet cafe?? that said the range of products in sydenham store generally is much lower than dulwich, and much less organicy. i therfore trust in Mr Sainsbury to give us somewhere nice to recover from the shock of spending ?120 and still not having anything to eat for dinner. (or is that just me?) ride-ons should be banned. pride myself on not having given in yet.
  9. The Garden Centre will definitely go - I have it from an insider (sort of). All the nice staff have moved to the offshoot behind the defunct music shop in West Dulwich. Very nice it is too. Also, the giant Sainsburys in Sydenham (some of the West Dulwich crew might not venture that far south as there are def no chain coffee bars down there) has an internet cafe in it. It looks like easy internet, or at least an imitation one as it was all very orange. So maybe we can post on here after doing the shopping? I am sure the cafe will be better than dried up lasagne. With all the new homeware stuff being stocked in the new store, it will be quite "current" I think.
  10. Thank you dulwichmum. Seldane is I believe the name of a cleaning agency operating in the Dulwich area. I did not know they dealt with foxes but will refer to my cleaning lady for assistance in future. You are quite right re weeing in garden being unsanitary. It is a slippery slope from there to shopping in Iceland and drinking instant coffee. All are now banned. Standards must be maintained. Best regards Katgod
  11. when we lived somewhere less salubrious in South London hubby used to piddle in the front garden under the hedge to deter the foxes from crapping on the concrete strip between house and hedge. Having tried all sorts of products, including lion dung, hubby pee works best. As for the foxes sha**ing at midnight and waking me up, any suggestions. I believe a family of foxes live between the wood yard and Mulberry Close, and they are v busy at night at the moment. PS hubby does not pe under the hedge now we live in Dulwich. Altho we are in East Dulwich I expect sensitive types in West Dulwich would still be upset by such behaviour. PPS are there no foxes in West Dulwich?
  12. hello, just to add more to it - our credit card was used for Norwegian transactions, our credit card company spotted the out of character transactions and phoned to check before it got too expensive. I had not been out of SE21/SE22 during the week in question. Got the cash back, new cards etc, and then they spotted a very dubious transaction, me shopping at Decathlon Surrey Quays, and phoned hubby to query that transaction too. There is no escape. Shopping will be uncovered by the bank friud squad and no secrets are left!! To be honest I am a bit suspicious of the same brand of garage but in SE21/Herne Hill area. Maybe run by same people?
