  4. B & Q stores do a cutting service Anything you buy from store - get five free cuts if you bring your own wood it’s about a pounds for a certain number of cuts ( check number in store or on website , I’m not sure of exact details)
  5. Andrews and Arnold are very expensive - reallly geared up to providing broadband to commercial operations and business , etc. Just go to uswitch or moneysaving expert websites and type in your postcode. Some homes are covered by several providers others may have a more limited choice. Most areas in London are well covered. community broad band are a new 'kid on the block' get good reviews and very fair prices, they had a stall in Morrisons for some time and were touting for new busness so must be avaiable in the Peckham area. Unfortunetly not in my road !
  6. I often walk past 'Kenro Press' and think it looks very sad and negleted. I wonder when it was last a viable business - tried googling it but nothing much came up Great to hear it is being brought back to life, perhaps a pity it will not be a new usefull retail premises. Lots of work needed so good luck with your renovation
  7. An 18 + Oyster Card found Near Peckham Rye Park on pavement in Shelbury Rd , near corner with Mundiania Rd
  8. This example proves my point! you need to put your case- if the photo does not catch the emergency vehicle as well as your car you will find it difficult to prove that you moved into bus lane for a 'valid' reason .
  9. A number of comments on here are missing the main point. Of course parking in dangerous spots should not be done for obvious reason. The fact remains Southwark have employed too many 'enforcement ' officers in anticipation of the huge money to be made as a result of trying to completely undemocratically steamroller a CPZ across the whole of Dulwich. Along most of Lordship lane there is 30 minute parking at some times. In the 'old days' an 'operative' would very slowly stroll up and down the lane writing down the time and number of each car. The chances of getting a ticket were remote, if you were unluckily and there was a bit of a Q in the post office you would get away with it. The inconsiderate idiot who took up a space for hours probably did get a ticket. now with technology they photograph each car with a time stamp, if your there in another 35 minutes you will get a fine. Ultimately if you park 'illegally' you cant moan if you get a ticket but the odds are now stacked against you. This could well effect the foot fall on the shops in Lordship lane. BTW don't pull into a bus lane to let a emergency vehicle through, you will be get a fine. All done by camera with no humans heart involved !
  10. " Most of inner London has CPZs" one of the contributors on here says. Hmmmm- Most of inner London has amazing public transport. This is not the case in and around Dulwich PS don't own a car and use my bike to get around Dulwich I do not want to pay and watch the clock anytime I have a visitor or tradesman call. In many areas parking restrictions are necessary but around Dulwich that is not the case

  14. I think the proposed building is best described as a "carbuncle" seems a bit odd placing this next to an elegant building that has such lovely painting within.
  15. You buy a house ( cheaper than the surrounding houses ) along a busy main road and are surprised that it has a lot of fast moving traffic. solution- move to Devon or ........... (or any number of boring lovely idyllic places with no jobs, museums, theatres etc

  20. I understand that a number of boroughs have introduced online 'borrowing' onto 'devices' such as Kindle etc Is wonderful Southwark doing this? Notwithstanding CV this must be the future anyway. I must add tho - I love real books!
  21. Not clear what happens to the 'electrical items' If they just slide down a shute I presume that get broken up for the precious metals etc in the circuit boards, a lot of the remainder will get ditched and into landfill . If the item works take it to a charity shop or give it away on here or free cycle etc.
  22. A blues sign tells you what is permissible - you should NOT be fine for passing that . Red signs are needed to prohibit you - they need to be placed in a space where the message is clear and unambiguous
