  1. Bellatrix? It means strong/ warrior woman.
  2. I'm sure you've tried this, but one of the parenting books I read said that to deal with early morning waking you should cut down/ cut out the morning sleep specifically (as opposed to just overall daytime sleep). Obviously if your little one is no longer having a morning sleep or does not have regular sleeps then this is not applicable but this did help with baby numero uno when she had this problem. You are definitely not alone on this!
  3. I really rate these Babydan travel cots. http://www.amazon.co.uk/BabyDan-1080-60-01-75-Travel-Cot-Black/dp/B000KPI3Y0. We use it with a regular cot mattress (120x60 i think). My 3 year old daughter is still in a cotbed with cot sides up (will be till she goes to college if i have my way) and it is only marginally larger than this travel cot. Folds up small as normal sized travel cots except the very small Phil and Teds travel cot.
  4. So many pretty girls names! We have a Stella who was very nearly Jennifer or Miranda. Still wonder if perhaps we should have christened her Estelle or Estella and just called her Stella. Very much agree re liking the shortened versions - that ruled out a lot of names for me. Thought no one could shorten Stella but she does occasionally get Stels which I hate. There were 2 Thea's in my year at school and 1 in my uni class so obviously not that unusual in the North West in the 70s/80s!
  5. Another shameless post, as I am selling my Cameleon on the forum (Family Classifieds), but I love the Cameleon. I used it on buses/ trains nearly every day and never once had a problem, although I do get on the back doors of the bus. I've never noticed it being wide, but then there are so many double buggies around here I think most single buggies look compact! I think babies/ toddlers just look sooo comfy in the Cameleon! Both kids were in the bassinet for 5-6 mths, with plenty of room, a proper mattress and totally flat (which is advised until 6mths). They have always slept really well in this buggy as its spacious and goes flat even in toddler mode (not sure if the Bee does this too). The toddler seat is a good size - still plenty of room for my 3 year old who is desperate to oust her little bro - I know people whose little ones were uncomfortable in the Bee seat even 6 months before this age. I also think it works really nicely with the great Lascal buggy board, still feeling sturdy and (I found) still manoeuvring (sp?) fine.
  6. Thank you both. I have updated (ie bumped) my Classifieds post, posted on Gumtree and also discovered Preloved. We'll see. Not sure how long husband will put up with the stuff cluttering our bedroom - may be pushed to Ebay sooner than I'd like. Strange how selling through the Forum seems nicer and friendlier!
  7. Naively, I never realised it was so expensive to sell stuff on ebay (10% of final sale price, unless I'm reading it incorrectly). Do they ever have 'special offer' times when the sale fees are reduced? Or, what are the best other options for selling unwanted stuff? I have a bugaboo and other baby stuff to clear out. I have tried the Family Classifieds on the forum, but few takers. Is gumtree the only option other than ebay? any suggestions appreciated.
  8. Please don't worry. I would agree with all the above posts. I measured small both pregnancies and both times delivered above average size babies. I had additional growth scans every 4-6 weeks through both pregnancies due to midwife concerns and would say enjoy the chance to see your baby again, what a treat!
  9. This happened to me. I bought a new brake through Buggy Pit Stop. Mothercare in Lewisham said they can order one in and fit it too (I just called them in advance to check the bloke who worked there who could fit it was there that day). I actually ended up getting it fitted by Buggy Pit Stop in St Albans as co-incidentally I was going there to see a friend anyway.
  10. Have now checked out the P&T website and also decided that reclining seats are important to me... So vibe 2 I think it is. Will go and check some out and then buy second hand - I'll probably be next seen on here on the classifieds page! FMM
  11. Hi all, thank you very much for your helpful replies. I am going to look out for a second hand sport or explorer - can make do with the maclaren + sling at the mo but not sure how long will manage carrying very chumky younger son! thanks again, much appreciated FMM
  12. I'm sure this topic has been covered many times, sorry, but go easy on me - it's my first post here! I have decided to buy a Phil and Teds as I need a buggy that goes easily from single to double buggy. I want to take the oldest child (3yrs) to nursery with both children in the buggy (other child is 4 months), drop older child at nursery and then continue with my day with younger child in the buggy. A buggy board hasn't worked for us for reasons i won't go into! I am confused about the different Phil and Teds available: Vibe, Explorer, Sport?? Is one much heavier than another? Is one bigger? Better for getting on buses/ bumping down steps to the station? Harder to fold? Do any take a car seat (not really necessary)? And do none of them have a seat that reclines... Finally I am happy to buy secondhand but if I were to buy new, any recommendations as to where does the best deals? Any advice appreciated. Thanks FMM
