  2. Fantastic Idea! I'd go at least once a week. The closer to ED/Peckham Rye the better in my opinion - i'd love somewhere within walking distance. Best of luck progressing it :)

    UFC 146!

From Wpedia on Deaths in MMA While competition in the MMA have been occasionally depicted as brutal by the media,[56] there were no documented cases of deaths after a sanctioned MMA event prior to 2007.[57] In the period of 2007 to 2010, there were two fatalities in mixed martial arts matches. The first was the death of Sam Vasquez on November 30, 2007.[58] Vasquez collapsed shortly after being knocked out by Vince Libardi in the third round of an October 20, 2007 fight at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.[59] Vasquez had two separate surgeries to remove blood clots from his brain, and shortly after the second operation suffered a devastating stroke and never regained consciousness.[58] While questions have been asked about Vasquez's health before his final bout, no firm indications of pre-existing problems have yet surfaced. The second death stemming from a sanctioned mixed martial arts contest occurred in South Carolina on June 28, 2010, when 30-year old Michael Kirkham was knocked out and never regained consciousness. He was pronounced dead two days after the fight.[60]

Maxxi, you might be interested in K1 Rising which is coming up in a week or two. More an eagle dance fan myself but like a bit of salt action too. Nette, I've competed in Boxing, Judo and BJJ and did Karate for quite a few years, none to any high level but enough to see things from an inside point of view and get to know a lot of other mma fans and practitioners.

Not intended but not unexpected - always interesting to gauge reaction too. Nette, is boxing also moronic?

    UFC 146!

It's definitely a problem when there's a stalemate on the ground or you're not a big fan of the finer technical points of catch wrestling/bjj/grappling, I agree. But there are a lot of incredible fights out there with some amazing striking and submission skills on display, not to mention super human levels of toughness. Check out some highlight reels of the top guys - there's some pretty crazy grappling action . You also get stuff like this: And that's in the last minute of a 25 minute war.

Haha! More of a sweet science fan then. Freddie Roach would disagree.

    UFC 146!

Anyone else looking forward to this or have predictions?
  9. Showboat, no I didn't see it as an attack at all. The point I was making was quite different to the one you accuse me of missing. Whatever, as you say, it's immaterial.
  10. I can second the Terre a Terre recommendation - it's great! You'll need to book early as they're usually very busy. Have a great time, Brighton is an awesome town :)
  11. Well, here's the thing - your acceptance or rejection of the statement really isn't of any importance. I offered an opinion and stand by it, along with my right to not get drawn into justifying stuff to arbitrary debating standards defined by people I don't know for reasons that remain vague. There's always Sue's negative comments on TCC to take issue with if you want to keep going.
  12. Horses for (main) courses I guess AlexC :) I'll give it another shot - I'm not the only one to be underwhelmed though!
  13. Japanese Middling to Decent Thai (Thai Corner manages the impressive task of being mediocre at best) Middle Eastern of any kind - an Al Anouk would be awesome Pizza East (The Gowlett is good, but a proper boozer first and foremost) Mediterranean Vietnamese Veg/Vegan/Raw - take your pick from the many great examples in W/E/N/Central London Euro Brasserie Italian I haven't been here long but have eaten my way across most of the rest of london and there's so much amazing stuff out there (that's generally also cheaper) that ED could massively benefit from.
  14. M&S and Starbucks doth not a community break either.
  15. Showboat - I thank you and stand corrected. Ditto gender :)
  16. Salsaboy - fair enough, maybe a tad harsh style-wise but I am making a serious point and I don't see why it's ok to (idiotically) attack anything that vaguely smacks of being middle class or aspirational but not to return fire.

However, your basic mastery of posh stuff like grammar, syntax and spelling mark you out as someone who has serious issues with your selfs, and thus you do not merit a reply. Just be happy eating impossibly cheap food that massively increases your selfs chances of cancer and other serious health problems.
