  1. I had one fitted in my last house after a burglary and when they came back for a second go it scared them off with just a handful of my possessions. I think it will deter some but not all the scumbags...the main thing is to make your house less desirable to burgle so they do over someone else instead
  2. Most damp is for reasonably obvious and easily sorted reasons, in my Victorian terrace house it's been: - blocked gutters - blocked drains - bad seals round windows Where is the patch? Take a look at what's going on outside round the damp patch, it's probably a gutter that is a bit blocked so overflows when the rain gets heavier but you may not notice during "normal" rain
  3. I suppose it depends what sort of fence you are going for, a cheap panel type is the same both sides but the vertical slat type has the horizontal supports between the posts....but if you are paying, you get to choose what side you see! P.s. I just had mine done by a guy in Beckenham, very happy with it, pm if you want the details
  4. In my experience the parent and child spaces are at a premium and occupied all the time (except at unsociable hours when the rest of the car park is empty too) so I find it hard to believe that the rest of the car park was full except this space, so as I have already said the OP is a total w*nker! There are rules in our society (things like not dropping litter, not taking a p*ss in the street, being polite to people, joining a queue at the back, etc), lose these and then it's a free for all and it's all going to go to pot
  5. Ok, I'll make it simple, there's a tiny number of spaces to make some peoples lives a little easier - a bit more room to get a child out the car for example - and the op has come along and thought "oooo, the nearest space is all of 100m away, I'll just park here", then they have been told they can't but they thought "f**k you, I'll do what I want" and now they are complaining they got a "ticket", enforceable or not. So basically the OP is a total and utter w*nker.
  6. you get the nice bit facing you for the fence you pay for
  7. Wow, a whole 14 parent and child parking spaces out of a car park of what, 1,000 spaces and you couldn't find a space, that makes it all right. Plus you are supported by Louisa who in another thread thinks putting a bin in a parking space is acceptable, where are the morals now?
  8. Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > To DirtyBox - your speaking out of your rear. London is full of little people who think leaving some bins out to reserve a parking space is their right and shock...a plumber has legs! and an ambulance doesn't need a parking space, they will just double park so get off you pompous high horse and stop being selfish.
  9. It's not your space just because it's outside your house! The only selfish person is you for attempting to block the space with your bin.
  10. Could anyone who has done a side return extension and is happy with the builders PM me a reccomendation? I am also looking to do this to my 3 bed mid terrace as well as a loft conversion at the same time. Thanks
  11. I had a homemade burger in a homemade brioche bun topped with a big slice of foie gras, yum!
  12. Have had: "kid in hospital, need ?10 for a taxi" "need money for meter to cook disabled son his dinner" "car run out of petrol can I borrow ?5 and write you a cheque" all by a new neighbour in my street of 10 houses, none of which have changed hands for over 15 years. There's also a guy in West Norwood whose car regularly runs out of petrol in the small hours so will ask anyone around for money to help, asked my 3 nights in a row once..
  13. I have a nexus 7, have had no problems and does everything I need it to do (videos, reading, facebook, internet, games)
  14. I have an electronic fox repeller (FoxWatch) and have not seen a single one in my garden since I put it in. It's so good I got another one for cats...
  15. I always piss on my cans before drinking them, washes away the rats piss
  16. as far as I know, no-one has laid a dogs egg on a pub toilet floor in Sydenham either..
  17. if it's a normal waist height fence then I think it's ok, if you are planning a 12ft razor wired topped security perimeter then that's a different issue
  18. www.hasbean.co.uk should deliver in a day or 2, in the meantime just buy some from Sainsburys
  19. I bought a Kamei XXL (because lots of people told me they regretted buying a smaller one) and it's mahoosive! Haven't used it yet but it looks up the trip to France we about to embark on, was ?350 or so from roofbox.co.uk with the Whisper bars and some free strap things.
  20. You could do worse than having a look around http://www.roofbox.co.uk/ if you have any questions they seem happy to answer them and there is a pretty good FAQ section.
  21. I quite often go for a burn along the A272 and end up on the A3 for a bit before going through the Hindhead Tunnel...sounds great with my twin Akros :-)

    Juicers

for cheap centrifugal ones, yes. The more expensive ones work a different way and produce much more juice and a drier residue http://www.ukjuicers.com/fruit-and-vegetable-juicers/champion?gclid=CPalovvjvbgCFY_KtAodFUwA0w

    MOOC

I have done a few on Cousera, mainly IT courses and they have all been very good. I have a day job and kids so the time commitment can be a bit of an issue but the standard of the courses is very good - Stanford, MIT, EPFL, etc
  24. smash the window, take the handbrake off, and push it into the road, maybe throw some excrement in the window if you feel like it.
  25. Oh I see, that must be what the 2 guys I caught in my garden trying my windows were doing...
