  1. These petitions are pretty pointless, doesn't matter how many people sign, they just get ignored
  2. Jules-and-Boo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hope those guilty get taken off the streets and > given the help they need I don't understand this statement, what help does someone need who's prepared to go out and stab someone?
  3. That doesn't annoy me as much as "yourself" and "myself" instead of you and I
  4. https://www.clintonmckenzie.com/ Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 5-7pm. It's ?10 per session: cash payment at the gym. It's ?80 per month: direct debit for monthly payment.
  5. Shouldn't you be cycling rather than getting a train?
  6. I'm still waiting for my TV to give me eye cancer
  7. Ban all planes....except the ones I use to go skiing or on my summer holiday
  8. I have also had a wall underpinned (I prefer reinforced) as part of a kitchen extension because the original foundation wouldn't have been able to support the structural changes we were making. As I recall when I renewed my insurance the question mentioned underpinning in relation to subsidence rather than just underpinning. I would think that a large proportion of extensions would require some reinforcement to existing walls, especially Victorian houses, so I doubt it would affect your insurance.
  9. Chez Bruce, they are paying so you can afford a cab
  10. As people have already said it depends on whether the price you are paying is for a 3 bed or a 2 bed house. If they are selling it as a converted loft then clearly you need all the necessary approvals and permissions. If it's being sold as a 2 bed with potential then it's just storage and wouldn't have any building regs anymore than a boarded out loft space would have. Saying that if they are prepared to lower the price then that's a good thing!
  11. Have a look at www.codecademy.com, it has some tutorials on some decent languages (Java, Python, etc), might be a little advanced though
  12. Thank you for the advice. I'm going to write a pre-action letter to them and send it via email and also send it to the nursery, the registered address of the company, and to the home address of the 2 directors. Will probably hand deliver to the nursery as it's only down the road and then they can't claim non-receipt. I will list the reasons both sides decided that we couldn't continue to use the nursery - giving a bowl of coco-pops as a snack instead of fruit like they said they would and putting my sons nappy on so tight he was crying in pain - as well as pointing out that they already agreed to the refund. Hopefully that will do the trick and we can avoid court.
  13. I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the small claims court? I put my son in a nursery in September but after 4 sessions it became clear it was not working out and the manager suggested I take him out and they would refund the remaining fees. I have 2 emails from her in which she agrees to refund the money however now she is refusing and saying we signed a contract which states the fees are non refundable. Does the fact she agreed to the refund initially over ride the contract?
  14. This seems to be pretty common. We have had 5 builders round over the last 2 months and only 1 quote received. What I just don't understand is if they don't want the work, then why come round and have a look?
  15. I like La Rosiere, it's higher (1850) so the snow doesn't melt in the afternoon as much, it's got plenty of easy runs, you can ski to Italy, usual ski school, and if you go with someone like SkiBeat then they can sort out childcare (both babysitting in the evening and some chalets have a creche).
  16. Is it hard wearing? We are considering it for a large kitchen and it's going to get some pretty heavy use so a bit worried how it copes with scratches, etc Has anyone got engineered wood?
  17. What's the pressure like from the bath taps? I recently moved into a new house and the shower was pretty pathetic but the bath was ok, I unscrewed the shower head from the hose and found a flow restrictor had been installed (to save water probably) which I removed and it's now pretty good - we also have a combi boiler.
  18. Does anyone have any experiences good or bad that they would like to share about flooring for kitchens? We are thinking engineered wood or Armtico/Karndean.
  19. "A bit late, but we got caught in a category 7 storm (I think at 8 or 9 they shut down crossings) on ferry back from Brittany" I had a similar experience a few years ago, strangely the canteen had very few customers as they were all in the toilets :-)
  20. "Since these greedy profiteering capatalist shopkeeps started having xmas trails, donkeys etc" Fair enough, donkeys are a step too far
  21. Why does running a business selling goods you want to buy make them "greedy" and "profiteering"? And if they own the area why can't they put their displays or tables and chairs out? It's hardly a trip hazard is it? And since when was Christmas a scam? If you don't like it, don't buy anything.
  22. both our kids sleep like that in the car, I think it looks worse than it is but if it bothers her then she must wake up and re position herself? Short of leaning over and pushing her head back up I don't thinks there's much you can do
  23. I doubt one would be viewed as much more than a shed unless you spent a lot more and got a garden office type thing that could be used year round.
  24. "oh great, another burger retailer. Just what the area needs as there is currently nothing like that. Nor is there a cheese shop. Unless you count the cheese shop and the cheese stalls on the market." What LL needs is some estate agents, chicken shops, and nail bars
  25. We use the correct anatomical name for everything so my kids have to learn Latin and anatomy before they can tell me whats wrong with them. Only yesterday my 3 year old came in and told me she had a hematoma on her patella.
