Parking at Tessa Jowell Health Centre
spark67 replied to dds29's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes don't forget to register your car, It wasn't that clear to me when I went in and I got a fine, most expensive flu jab ever -
Had an appointment at the dulwich medical centre saturday afternoon(Physio) large groups around the Great Exhibition drinking ... also along crystal palace road, lots of young adults some with fold up chairs drinking in the street, some right outside the medical centre by the kerb and in the road.... I get it, Its not been a good year, & you want to meet your mates, But this seemed really antisocial, it just felt like a group of very entitled people who didn't care... right outside peoples houses too making a right noise & leaving plastic cups all over the place.

We live on Ashbourne, so when they shut Melbourne grove, it just meant people who live on Ashbourne now drive up our road as they can't enter from ED grove, There is a lot of car owners on Melbourne & the roads off of it, so we now have increased traffic at the expensive of them having less.. also have noticed people drive up Ashbourne to go through Melbourne to exit at the Lordship lane end near Whatley road when there are traffic queues on the roundabout end of the lane.. if this is permanent then I don't see why Ashbourne and Chesterfield can't have their Melbourne exits closed, and Melbourne residents can enter via their lordship lane exit... why should one street benefit from decreased traffic at the expense of others ?

flu jab - Tessa Jowell practice - safe?
spark67 replied to trinidad's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
> you must register your car reg > number at the desk or you'll get fine That'll be a deemed contractual penalty payment rather than a fine. But don't dream of paying, simply for being unaware of their system requirement. Just as with supermarket parking, I'd guess that confirmation from the surgery that you'd been attending would be sufficient to get any existing penalty claim cancelled (assuming you removed the car once you'd had the jab ;) ). I might have a look around myself sometime, to see what any notices in the car park do say. Ah I see, I paid as I drive a lease car, and they inform you weeks after the fine has been issued to them, so only had a day until the discounted fine ended... one to remember in the future, yes I left straight after I had my jab. -
Had a scary moment when driving home from work a few weeks ago at junction, lights were green for me, and as I drove through this kid on one swerved out from the left side road junction through a red light right in front of me casing me to break and swerve, he didn't even look at me and shot off as though nothing had happened, shook me right up...I see them everyday, hard to see them at night, especially and thats the ones with lights. I went to Atlanta last year, and they have the hire ones, main ones by Uber, thy have a curfew on night time use as there were so many accidents and a couple of deaths during the night.

flu jab - Tessa Jowell practice - safe?
spark67 replied to trinidad's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Went there a compile of weeks ago for my Jab, pretty empty, with a lot of social distance measures in place, and everyone wearing masks, was guided upstairs to where the GP surgeries are by main reception....Only thing I would warn is if driving there ( I don't usually, but came straight from work) is that you must register your car reg number at the desk or you'll get fine .... I was rushing and didnt see signs informing me of this (also forgot my reading glasses) .. I though the it was one of those carparks the were time sensitive like the supermarkets .... that teach me -
flu jab - Tessa Jowell practice - safe?

I went a couple of weeks ago & had a jab after getting a text, definitely safe, quite a lot of room to keep your distance, and hardly anyone there when I went -
Unpleasant graffiti meets with a perfect ED response

People who write stuff like that are knuckle dragging idiots, no argument about it. Just love the response though. -
I have Family who go every year to the one in Marlow, they really enjoy it.

Franklins announced they are now selling bread from The snapery on their instagram ... will definitely be trying some as heard its pretty good. -
Like you we always keep ours in at night, RSPCA also advise.. we were out Nye, but came home to find one of ours was so spooked by something they had smashed through the lock on the catflap, we couldn't find her for ages, then eventually she turned up at 5am, had obviously been hiding somewhere.. when it was light found the burnt out casing of a rather large firework/rocket in our back garden.. she has never done this before and must have exerted a lot of force to push through lock, and probably got spooked by noise thinking it was in house.

Brick House Bread announced they aren't reopening
spark67 replied to Azalea's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Gails .... mass produced bread in a production bakery in I think perivale or Acton, can't think which one, someone who used to work in the bakery I work in was a floor manager there. Nothing wrong with that sort of produce if well made, but trying to pass it off as some sort of artisan hand crafted one, no. -
I've seen this a few times, yes a definite Breakfast stop.... tho was a little concerned before I saw them all in the cafe

Thanks for link ... found it helpful, I might try Melbourne grove as other family members go there it turns out, and seem happy with it

The phone scam happened to my work mate, they had a new 02 phone delivered in their name, then a man claiming to be a courier knocked and said it had been delivered by mistake ( how that could be if their name and address was on the package) .. my friends husband denied they had a package much ti the guys confusion and took it back to an 02 shop. Not sure what is going on here with this one though... I'd say a cack handed attempt to see who lived there, creepy.

Just moved from underhill road to Ashbourne grove and changed my Address at the forest hill group practice, who then sent me a letter saying I was out of their catchment area and have been dropped from their patient list, & have four weeks to find a new practice, as someone with an underlying health condition its important I find someone soon. Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations about practices nearby. Ps ideally do not want this to turn into a slagging off of local surgeries thread, just need helpful advice

Hi Sue, I completed the couch to 5k in 2017, just before my 50th birthday, ... lead me to carry on running, and this year so far I have ran 4 half marathons, two 10k races, and the London Marathon ( something I would have laughed in the face of anyone two years ago who said that would happen) I also recommend decathlon, I got my first shoes there, the have their own brand as well, their own brand goes up in scale to your ability, the staff are really helpful, and they have a piece of equipment you run on, like a long rubber mat connected to a screen, which tracks your gait so you can be advised on the best type to get...I really wouldn't run too long in your converse, as you might end up with tendon damage or painful feet, believe me I know from experience from when I first started. there is also a new local running group called "the East Dulwich runners" ( different from the Dulwich runners) you can find them on instagram, just a small group of locals who meet up in the East dulwich tavern and concentrate on 5k runs in the area. Good luck with the app, its well worth it, I lost my middle age spread, high cholesterol, and feel so much better mentally ... good tip is to have a great playlist as you go (which can be played while running on the app)

KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Can?t smell worse than fags, surely ? flipping does, we had neighbours that did this, don't have a problem with weed, only had one when we couldn't open any windows in the summer as it stank our flat out and lingered for ages... still we could always tell when our cat had visited them though :) We did politely ask if they could just smoke it away from the back of the house, which they did, and wasn't so bad. I believe they were evicted by their landlord eventually ( not paying rent, not puff related) The landlord had to chuck all the furnishings away as it really smelled .. it was piled up in the drive and you could smell it as you passed. We have neighbours that regularly smoke cigarettes outside, definitely doesn't hang around or intrude as much, and doesn't waft into our house

Court Lane Gardens - stupid driving
spark67 replied to HelBel65's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Wether anyone hates slow drivers or not, you shouldn't be speeding in a residential area at all ... I was driving along woodvale towards forest hill road past the cemetery on Saturday..I have a fiat and slowed at the bumps as its quite low, the driver behind me was practically in my boot everytime I slowed down, in the end he swerved around me and continued on the other side of the road at speed to the lights at the junction of forest hill road... knowing I'd catch up to him at the lights, he went straight through the red light, swerving as he headed up towards honor oak... what a dangerous prick ( he made an oncoming car swerve as he went down the wrong side of the road ) Bizarre thing was he appeared to be reaching behind himself as he drove to steady some crutches on his parcel shelf πΆ I have experienced people aggressively driving on court lane.... so not surprised by this post at all. -
I used the free couch to 5k app on my phone, you start walking with light jogging inbetween, really useful to anyone wanting to start exercising gently... you do 3 half hour sessions a week, and end up running 5k at the end without stopping... One of the session in the beginning involved a 90 second run/jog after a 5 minute walk..which left me breathless, at then end of the 9 weeks i was gently running 5k with out feeing breathless at all. If you don't do this they still gave a tip to pass on, when starting to run for the first time, just take a light jog, imaging you are running by a hedge, someone on the other side of the hedge shouldn't see your head bobbing up and down as you go, just steady low impact movement. I decided to take things further after this and now 2 years later I run half marathons, and this week my first full one. But I found I got all the health benefits I needed, and lost most of my excess weight with the couch to 5k, and a half an hour jog/run twice a week will benefit your health greatly.

Hi all Hoping its ok to do this on here, not 100% I joined the forum 10 years ago this year, mainly because from January 2009 I was stuck in an isolation ward for 4 months at Kings college hospital, being treated for stage 4 Lymphoma... It wasn't good, they were not expecting me to last through February. But Kings fought hard and here I am. I joined the forum while in my room at Kings to help me pass time, and connect with the outside world, and find out what was going on in my hood...searches for me back then on here will just show I was very nosey, but take what I wrote with a pinch of salt, I was dosed up on Morphine :) To make my 10 year all clear count I have decided to run the London marathon, which falls coincidently, right on the anniversary date. I only started running when I turned 50, to lose some belly wobble, doing the couch to 5k, & have been training hard this year for the big event. I will be raising money for the Variety children's charity, to help sick, disadvantaged and disabled kids... & because I was treated at (and still being treated) at Kings college hospital, they will funnel most of what I raise to the variety children's hospital at Kings .... If you want to have a look at my just giving page, feel free to have a look HERE πhttps://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mark-hammerton .and if you want to help me make this milestone count, a small donation would go a long way :) x

I'm often intimidated by foxes, hanging about on street corners in gangs, smoking, drinking, up to no good ..... I put my head down and walk past quickly, I don't want any trouble πΆππ

Overhill/Belvoir/Underhill roads being used as a bypass
spark67 replied to bobbsy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Not ideal, but can't be helped I suppose, took me 15 minutes just to get my car out of the space I parked it in outside our flat on underhill yesterday it was bumper to bumper traffic... did notice a parked car had the corner of its bumper knocked off further down, and one wing mirror on another a few metres further... some of the drivers are quite belligerent when it comes to giving way when having to pass parked cars, especially where the p13 is concerned.
