  1. From what I hear from friends looking in other areas such as crystal palace as they have been priced out from here, its still going silly. Open day viewings, sealed bids and stuff going for at least 30k over asking price. Maybe the market has moved - people realised the prices here had got stupid and looked elsewhere.
  2. The amount of perfectly ok stuff we throw away each year in this country they are probably onto a winner!
  3. I heard a boy had been stabbed
  4. Guardian today reports that house price windfalls are seeing Londoners cash in and move out: http://www.theguardian.com/money/2014/jun/07/house-price-london-move-countryside
  5. I heard that the grocer / post office next to Sainsbury's is moving into his other premises next door, over Landells Road. He owns both of them I think. And that the post office shop will be used for something else.
  6. Nationwide warns of 'natural correction' in London house prices, due to the unprecedented growth seen over the last year. Read all about it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-27599787
  7. I have to agree - walking to the pub in the rain yesterday was a bit like walking through a car wash with damp bushes and leafy tree stumps blocking off a lot of pavements!

Who cares?? Let them wear beards...
  9. Just spotted an ED two bed on rightmove has had its price slashed by ?50k!
  10. Who is the b list s'leb!?
  11. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/extend-the-tube-to-camberwell-peckham/ Here's the link to the petition if anyone wants to sign it
  12. If you can identify the house I would suggest calling the RSPCA with your concerns, rather than trying to do anything yourself...
  13. It is quite rude to suggest anyone moving into the area is patronising 'locals' or a snob!
  14. I think it has cooled too, although the asking prices are still rising - but pre Xmas, stuff was going under offer the first weekend they were coming on the market
  15. Maybe... But my point is that it would take years!
  16. It would be great if the tube came to Peckham / Camberwell.... but there's no chance of it happening any time soon! First they would have to get funding. Then develop the project plan and consult on it. Then build it. Even if they decided to go ahead with it, it would take quite a few years! I do hope it happens though.
  17. The only way any kind government or legislation could help slow the crazy growth in house prices would be: 1. Build more housing in London 2. Stop selling all the new housing to foreign investors (or impose taxes that make UK property an unattractive international investment) 3. Raise interest rates I don't really agree with any kind of intervention further than that....
  18. The earlier info graphic implies that 75% of the world are homeless? Us this accurate?!
  19. Thanks all. Def blue bins on my road yesterday. A mystery! Will give them a call.
  20. I've never used the ED deli - franklins has all that kind of stuff along with farmer's veg. Maybe earlier posters have hit the nail on the head about a lack if a USP? I like independents but chains do add convenience. I don't think the area would suffer from a boots or decent clothes shop in my opinion.
  21. Sorry not sure if I put this in the right forum :)
  22. 2 beds on Jennings road and cornflower terrace have also dropped in price and still not sold. Anyone who is buying and looks on rightmove at recently sold properties aren't going to pay ?700k for a 2 bed in a hurry... I hope? That's a jump of over ?100k in less than a year!
