  1. Hi I know how frustrating it is to get a test. I'm local instructor my favourite test centres are Westwickham and Bromley. Also few others that are ok and fairly local. Hither Green Sidcup Mitcham. Another centre I use is Sevenoaks. Trying to get a test that's the problem at the moment. Go on DVSA sight first thing in morning Monday around 6 am best and just keep searching. Good luck!
  2. Thanks great pupil. Have a lovely Xmas and safe driving for life!
  3. My pleasure and safe driving!
  4. Congratulations and what a Xmas present a full licence! I?d like to wish everyone a great New year and hope that 2022 is good one! Nicholas Driving Academy
  5. Although didn?t witness this I Can?t believe that the police don?t consider this a nasty incident. What?s point of the police?
  6. As a local driving instructor these new closures signage all around dulwich not only confusing very stressful at certain times of the day the traffic is terrible and it pushes the problem somewhere else. If the council thinks its greener I don?t know who advised them because in my eyes it makes things much worse. I?m all for less pollution and well thought out traffic calming etc. Maybe put parking fees all in Dulwich village permit parking just other day two rather large shiny 4by4?s so desperate to park as close as possible to Gales causing unnecessary traffic congestion!
  7. Just seen this. So sorry to hear that. 😞
  8. Locked because there are a few threads already about this - Admin Hi everyone I I think a lot of people will think the same about what I?m going to say. The traffic in and around Dulwich at times it?s gridlock and schools aren?t even back yet.I?m all for traffic calming cutting down on pollution etc, i really don?t think that some of the road closures are really helping, in fact I?d say the opposite it only pushes extra traffic onto neighbouring roads and consequently pushes the problem somewhere else just the other day the traffic was queueing from the picture gallery right up to East Dulwich Road and down to lordship Lane and beyond. We are only talking early afternoon-it?s crazy! While I was in the traffic jam two ambulances on emergency calls were completely stuck and seriously delayed! I hope the council really does look at this problem seriously and intelligently!
  9. Hi everyone it?s been confirmed that driving lessons can resume from Monday 12th April. And driving tests and theory will continue soon after. Whether your a refresher or a beginner feel free to contact me for an informal chat or to book. Lessons in own car more than welcome! Regards Nicholas
  10. Certain times of the day it will be okay plus not all schools are back. On a cycle it?s not really a problem we are talking more about traffic cars and road closure inconvenience with poor signage. Wait when all schools are back and 8.30am and 3.30 pm onwards expecting bad jams.
  11. I?m all for sensible traffic calming and certain closers, traffic pollution etc. When they close a road with no advanced warning consequently your getting lots vehicles having to do 3point turns galore extra revving of the engines etc and then the problem moves to another part of the area. As I said in this pandemic a lot more people will be using there cars as public transport not safe. You?ve only got to go past some local schools during drop off and pick up just to see the chaos and not to mention the huge 4+4?s etc it?s a shame that so many aren?t that local if they need use vehicles to take kids to school!
  12. That junction at most time?s by the village it?s pretty dangerous.I remember when it was being done caused months traffic chaos, to be honest it hasn?t really improved much. With the gov trying to encourage us off public transport and more into our cars due to the pandemic I don?t think it?s that smart blocking or shutting roads right now. All it does is cause more traffic and pushes the problem onto other roads, consequently they become rat runs. Once all the local schools are back I dread to think what it will be like!

  15. Hi, I?m local driving instructor I?ve been serving Dulwich and surrounding for many years I?ve noticed the increase in large coaches buses on that road parked up engines running etc that?s a concern. One of the main problems is that some vehicles park badly and so damn close to those barriers/crossings etc it?s not easy with a normal sized car it must be near impossible to negotiate those huge buses safely unfortunately I?m not surprised that parked cars get hit it?s not only the coaches you need worry about it?s poor driving from others who have none or very little spatial awareness. I think the school and council need to enforce a no parking area especially near those barriers etc. It?s not fair that legally and sensibly parked cars and residents have to worry particularly during school runs! Good news 6/7 weeks rest bite!
  16. In sorry to hear about your car Being scrapped. It?s mainly to do with the local schools not only is it crazy during school runs people parking close to bollards zigzags etc. Another problem is keeping there engines on while parked you can just feel the C02 especially on these hot days. From now till September it will be heaven school hols!

Feel free to drop a line or call me for an informal chat. Look forward to hearing from you. Nicholas.
  18. Shame we have live like this, don?t carry decent phone or ride a decent bike etc. Although I?m not a big fan of Mr Khan, unless we get more bobbys on the the beat 24/7 incluing stop and search I can?t see things getting any better. As I said above it?s easy picking around this area!
  19. Sorry to hear that. Trouble is with all the money seen around the Dulwich area, they seem to pick on the kids they assume who go to the private schools are an easy target. I?m glad there okay I feel for you! Most of us carry an iPhone these days worth a lot of money we all have to very vigalant!
  20. Well Robert I?m afraid it is about getting older I feel the same as you. ED has never really been known as a lively place, I think it?s trying to be something it?s not! Nothing wrong with louder music Fri/Sat in the right environment.
  21. Ha ha, where did you go billy biro? Late 60?early 70?s Dr fenner was the head He was a lovely guy. All boys those days.
  22. Hi all,has any one got solar Panels fitted or thinking about it. Advantages costs and are they worth it long term. Any advise and comments apreaciated. Thanks.
  23. I haven't followed every thread on this. As ED has become so popular in the last few years, cool shops, great schools and now the new M&S, I'm afraid it goes with the territory. Closing off this road, in my opinion, will be disaster and make lordship lane a school run 24/7, traffic will be crazy. Possibly a one way. Best solution is permit parking, that would help.
  24. Be careful what you wish for particularly if you live in neighbouring roads. I used to live close to a Waitrose many years ago and lot of shoppers were not so local, and it was bit like the school run at times. It will kill some of the local convenience not so trendy stores! Any large chain like this I can't see it working without designated parking.
  25. I think at first some would put their noses in the air so to speak. More often or not they would be the ones who would probably sneakily shop there. Why not the old Iceland site it would make nice mix!
