  1. I still haven?t got email but got a message via the app at 6.45. So stressful waiting I was beginning to wonder whether I?d applied at all! Got St Thomas the Apostle.
  2. Am I being unreasonable? In order to take my kids swimming I have had to "join" for free. This involved filling out personal details for all five members of my family, including date of birth, email, emergency phone numbers. The website apparently does not work very well and I was initially unable to enter my phone number. Finally the website accepted my phone number but then timed out when I attempted to submit the form and I now have to start again. You cannot just turn up and pay and go swimming. I was told this is for health and safety and safeguarding but I suspect it's a more cynical harvesting of personal data. Shouldn't they be encouraging people to exercise? I'm exasperated and have wasted nearly an hour on their hard to navigate website three phone call and still haven't managed to register.
  3. Without wishing to alarm people, I wanted to post this so people can be aware and vigilant. Last night at about 10.15pm my husband was walking down Lordship Lane near M&S. He has his phone in his hand, and two guys on a moped mounted the pavement and attempted to steal his phone. Fortunately the phone dropped on the ground and they rode off. The police were informed. Stay safe everyone.
  4. Yesterday I accidentally left my daughter's Frozen scooter by the red post box on Crystal Palace rd near approximately no 40. It's new and a present from her Grandpa. If anyone has it please let me know. Thanks
  5. Where can you get the eclipse viewing glasses from?
  6. Does anyway have a Mclaren buggy they are looking to sell? Thx.
  7. First Steps on Upland Rd is fantastic!
  8. Can anyone recommend the cheapest place to get these? Many thanks
  9. Does anyone know what the catchment is for Dulwich Hamlets? What do people do at 7 from Dulwich CofE school if you are not close enough to Dulwich Hamlets? Many thanks
  10. Any advice on how crowded/slow his bus is from ED to Rosemead during term time? Thanks
  11. I have a German au pair arriving in August and was wondering whether anyone could recommend English classes / au pair social groups? Many thanks
  12. I mixture of "no veg no ice-cream" and going OTT with praise (clapping and cheering while standing on a chair and stars) when a vegetable was eaten has worked. My son now says he likes broccoli. (okay he will eat sweet stuff all the time if he had a chance...) Good luck!
  13. Does anyone have any views on this? (I don't particularly want to get into the pros and cons of faith schools - just want some feedback on this school as I had not heard of it and am potentially interested). Many thanks
  14. Is anyone else's green already full, with over a week until it's going to collected...? It seems ridiculous that the pilot is over the winter, I would have thought seeing how it goes over the hot months is vital. I completely agree with Charlie, this does not seem to be a genuine pilot.
  15. ok I should have looked on internet - Tesco and ELC!
  16. Hi - does anyone know where I can buy/borrow a bubble machine for my children's birthday party? I know some of the music classes locally use them and they are such fun. Also, all the bubbles I buy for party bags seem to be useless - Sainsbury's ones don't have a stick in them and the ones from Just William just didn't work - anyone recommend where I can get good ones? Thanks

Apology accepted (-; I meant generally supporting each other not necessarily that we have to all agree (-; In fact I agree with you about scraping poo but I don't think it's always possible. Anyway even though I am annoyed by these changes and the hassle I can see it is a good idea and it is forcing me to get no 1 out of nappies and think about reverting to washables for no 2!
  18. Dorothy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "resorting to unecessary and uncalled for name > calling" > > ? To be honest I think ClareC has a point. I was beginning to regret raising the nappy issue. I love coming onto the forum and getting a bit of relief from an otherwise hectic day. I thought I had raised a fair point and it would be nice to have some measured debate. To be honest I thought the tone of your posts could have been a little less confrontational. Us mums need to be supporting each other.
  19. You can get those brown bags free from the garden centre for recycling garden waste - but it is still confusing having one bin for garden and food waste!
  20. All those dirty nappies sitting around for two weeks in the heat in the summer will be lovely...
  21. Thanks James, this is good to hear that something is being done. However I share concerns of others (on other thread) that there is no practical interim solution. I also believe that the issue of absent workmen at roadworks needs to be tackled.
  22. Thanks all! I'm using it for a toddler, so won't need the baby attachments. I'm regretting not buying one when I saw it on sale for about ?70!
  23. Does anyone know where the cheapest place to buy these are? Many thanks
  24. Apologies if others have complained about this and I am going over old ground but I feel I must raise this. I was crossing Forest Hill Rd today by the junction with Colyton Rd - there are roadworks, no visible workmen, temporary traffic lights but NO temporary pedestrian crossing. It was quite hairy crossing the road. After the terrible tragedy on East Dulwich Rd/Peckham Rye the other week, I am astounded that this is allowed to happen. Who is responsible and to whom can we complain? Lives are being put at risk here. There seem to be a general problem of loads of roadworks in the area at present but with no workmen working at them. Only yestyerday I tripped over some plastic covering on the pavement on Lordship Lane yesterday by some small roadworkd. Fortunately I didn't fall but this could have been nasty as I was carrying my baby at the time. Grateful for a response from James Barber or anyone else.
  25. I have had 2 babies with Oakwood and they are in my opinion absolutely fantastic. I had a hospital birth first time and a home birth second time. I would not hesitate to recommend them, I feel hugely fortunate to have been offered this service. As other people have mentioned there is always your GP and the Early Pregnancy Unit if you have concerns in the early stages. I hope the OP can enjoy this special time and not worry too much - as it goes so fast and second time round, there isn't so much time to enjoy it.
