Bessemer Grange Primary School would like to thank the local businesses of East Dulwich and the surrounding areas for their generously donated raffle prizes for our sunny Carnival and Summer Fair on Friday.   3. The sun is shining and everyone is welcome to come along to the Bessemer Grange Summer Carnival and Fair on Friday 12 July 2013. The annual Carnival begins at 2.00pm starting from the school with a procession around our local streets - children will be showing creations related to their theme this year of Countries of the World. The Carnival culminates in a Big Dance back at the school, after which the Summer Fair begins at 3.30pm! There will be a BBQ and bouncy castle plus loads of great stalls including ice creams, cakes, hook a duck, coconut shy, skittles, biscuit decorating, hoopla, face painting and lots more! During the Fair, the children will also be displaying their ICT projects in the Upper Hall. We have many fantastic raffle prizes that have been kindly donated by local businesses, including ?100 worth of Debenhams vouchers, a three month family gym membership (JAGS Sports Club), a ?25 Pizza Express voucher, a term of free dance classes (EOS Dance School), Millwall tickets, a massage (Therapy), hair treatments (Willis B ), vouchers for children's shoes (Emmanuelle Marshall), lingerie (Bloomers), beauty treatments and many more.   5. For parents/carers interested in finding out more about Bessemer Grange, please come along to one of the school's tours. These are held during term time on the last Tuesday of the month at 9.30am - no need to book, just turn up at the main reception (Dylways, London SE5 8HP, use the red gate). The next tour is on Tuesday 30 April. Last year, we held a very successful welcome picnic for children entering reception (and their parents/carers) which led to lots more play dates before term started and we plan to do the same this year. Details will be sent out in due course but please send us a PM if you would like more information or to register your interest in coming to the picnic.   6. For parents considering applications for September 2013, Bessemer Grange has a tour by the Deputy Head every Tuesday during term time at 9.30am. Bessemer Grange Welcome Picnic, Sunray Gardens, Friday 1st June 11.30am to 1.30pm Just a reminder that our welcome picnic for all children (and their parents/carers) starting at Bessemer in September 2012 is taking place this Friday. Younger siblings are very welcome too. This will be a great opportunity to get to know each other before the first day of school. We will be meeting in Sunray Gardens in the enclosed area opposite the playground, from 11.30am til 1.30pm. Please bring a dish to share if you can and a rug. The weather looks good for Friday but, if it does look wet on the day, please call the school office to find out if we are going ahead. Help us in the School Wildlife Garden ? Next Gardening Afternoon Saturday 30th June 2.00pm to 4.00pm We?ve been making great progress in the school?s wildlife garden. If you are interested in helping at one of our monthly gardening sessions, or would just like to come along and have a look (it?s a great play area for the children), please contact us or come along to our next gardening afternoon on Saturday 30th June.   9. Just a reminder of our gardening day tomorrow from 2-4pm. Come and help us clear the wildlife garden and get it ready for Summer use! Hopefully the weather will be a bit better - there is a bit of tree cover but volunteers should wear gloves, waterproofs and wellies.... All volunteers will get a burger or veggie burger. Please bring gardening equipment if you can. Also, if you weren't able to make the school tour last Tuesday, there will be another one on Tuesday 1 May. If you have any queries, please send us a PM. The next tour is on Tuesday 24 April. We?d like to invite children entering reception in September (and parents/carers) to a welcome picnic to get to know each other. Also, come and see the school's outdoor nature classroom and help clear it for summer use! We are holding a Gardening Day on Saturday 28 April from 2pm to 4pm. The more help the better (including children!). Please bring gardening equipment if you can. If you are interested in coming along to help, please send us a PM.
