Early waker "Lark", activities needed
melbourne groover replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Think the Beckenham soft play opens up early? -
Hmm gave the app a go but suspect lack of real success down to my haphazard following of it. I have found pysillium husks to be the best thing lately.... The fodmap diet does sound reasonable though.

Using taxi's with a baby- baby seats
melbourne groover replied to cazfay's topic in The Family Room Discussion
There is a type of VW sharan that has the boosters integrated. These are brilliant and can be used from around 4 months. Is worth checking with the cab firm. Then you literally just fold it down. We had dramas over the years with seats in taxis for small babies (usually at airport after arriving long haul)....take your own if you can ;-) -
Interior designer - yes or no?
melbourne groover replied to ClareC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Laura Stephens is a local interior designer (www.laurastephens.co.uk). I have seen some of her work and they are really lovely rooms. I know she is happy to work with a variety of budgets also (am sadly anchored to the high street budget myself...), but I do think the discounts balance out the fees and you get a really cohesive look. -
I use Myhermes, have found them to be very good.

question for expert sewers out there
melbourne groover replied to SE22mum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You could hand sew the tabs if easier but make sure you attach securely I.e stitch around the outside of the tab then do a stitched cross/x through the middle. This would hold, but depends how many you have to do! Def think fabric glue wouldn't hold. -
Women's waterproof coat recommendations
melbourne groover replied to srisky's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I have seen a few good ones around lately but annoyingly can't remember the brands. I bought an elvine parka last year which is waterproof and I know they do raincoats. Mrs Robinson actually had some nice ones the other day that looked properly waterproof. I couldn't find anything cheap enough to justify when I was looking so ended up with a short drizabone. I have been genuinely dry since I bought it over two years ago, but not particularly stylish....however was willing to sacrifice style to stay dry! I think the rain cape makes all the difference. Snowboarder posted a link the other day to a website with cool looking ponchos on. Good luck! -
The wow toys are good and also Octonauts ones if they like them (very robust, we used in all manner of settings incl the beach). Playmobile went down a storm for us also (not the really small bits obvs ;-)) A couple of plastic kitchen jugs were v popular for a long time, and actually thinking about it now a set of nesting measuring cups would have been good also I think.

Feedback wanted from Heber parents .
melbourne groover replied to EastDulwichSE22's topic in The Family Room Discussion
There was also the results meeting the other week night with Mr Block and Miss Kyprios to go over all levels results and what they mean. Heber is performing really well results wise, obviously this was explained in detail but that was the upshot.... -
I think I have seen this, it is very impressive!

We really enjoyed it, (although agree Norman's patter needs an update but believe it was exactly the same jokes as last time). I thought they had stepped up their game. The acrobatics (best part for us) were much better, than the last time we went. Although to be fair I didn't really like the motorbikes....

Good toy farm for a 3 year old?
melbourne groover replied to Belle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Schliech do a farm, I love their figures as they are super robust, endless (seemingly) animals to add so can encompass any changing preferences, and they are solid so can go in water regularly without going mouldy so good for bath/paddling pool/bucket of water etc... -

melbourne groover replied to Bonfire2010's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Singapore, super easy to get around, Sentosa Island resort (may be others better by now) by taxi, ferry to mainland for day trips, super child friendly, no drama, then nice short (relatively) hop to Oz after! -

Books for 4-year-old girls
melbourne groover replied to Monkey's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Chapter books went down well at 4 for our daughter, but fairly simple stories. She did enjoy the Milly Molly Mandy books at this age, they are connected short stories really... -
Not sure if it is the same lot but had a really unpleasant encounter with a group of youngish teenagers (around 12-14ish) recently there. When they dropped rubbish at my feet in a fairly deliberate manner, I suggested they should put it in the bin but it quickly descended to the point where one of them in particular ,despite the fact I was with my two young children, called me a slut and suggested I should suck his c*ck, genuinely didn't engage to this level and at that point I walked away. Not suggesting I deserve more respect than anyone else but I was taken aback by the complete lack of respect for anyone. I was disconcerted enough to ring the safer neighbourhood team, left a message but not sure if it was ever registered.
