  1. Can someone please explain to me how the late application thing works? I applied on time to 4 schools, didn't get any of them so went on the waiting list. If a late application then comes in to one of the schools do they take priority over me if they live nearer? Also, if you ask to go on to a waiting list of a school which wasn't one of your original 4 choices do you go below the people who applied on time? Thank you
  2. thank you fuschia. we can but hope!
  3. Hello just tried to rescurrect an old post but its gone into the classified section for some reason - anyway, just wondereing if anyone has had any luck getting a place at their preferred school after being on a waiting list. we're currently 2nd on the list for the school we want and my daughter is due to start in January. am desperately hoping there will be some movement but am beginning to get really stressed about it all again.
  4. we went today and it was fantastic. my husband was one of the poor unfortunates dragged up to do the ballet!
  5. i've just signed my 4 year old up for a course of lessons with justine of superkids swimming - she starts saturday - i can let you know how it goes
  6. or you can avoid buses altogether and get the train to london bridge and then another train out to greenwich
  7. Thankyou very much Huncamunca. That's incredibly reassuring to hear.
  8. Thanks for your reply. Hope your daughter settles in well in September - its coming round so quickly!!
  9. Thanks very much. That's really reassuring to know.
  10. Thanks nunhead lass, I really appreciate your reply. We've just been offered a place there for my daughter to start in January - it wasn't on our list of 4, but now I've looked properly the results seem to be improving massively, and I'm hearing a lot of positive stuff about it. Very frustrating that its school holidays and I can't go for a visit now!
  11. Hello Just wondered if anyone has any first hand views of Hollydale School please (I know its more Nunhead than Dulwich but some of us do live that way!!) Thanks
  12. i'm interested to know what solution was offered too. i was another one who initially didn't get any of our 4 choices. i have since been lucky enough to be offered a place at one of the schools we did apply to but i'd still like to know what solution tessa jowell came up with .....
  13. i'd like to come next week if the weather is better claire
  14. wednesdays at peckham rye are good for us too looking forward to it
  15. i was about to suggest exactly the same thing! the picnic area is great - the big ones can climb trees and that keeps them entertained for hours!
  16. hello i'd love to meet up - i have a nearly 4 year old girl and a 15 month old girl we don't drive but we're good walkers/bus users!! very often found in peckham rye park and surrounding areas!
  17. the late platform announcement thing is a nightmare - i've got two kids, a one year old and a nearly four year old and trying to sprint to platform 16 whilst pushing a pram and hanging onto a child is not easy. and its totally unnecessary - they must know which platform the train is coming in to! also, what is really annoying is when you're waiting at victoria for the london bridge train and they announce that its cancelled 1 minute before it should be leaving. which means you don't have enough time to catch the dartford train which goes through peckham rye and you're then stuck there for half an hour. that's happened to my husband twice in the last two weeks. again, they must know that the train is cancelled before then so why cant' they just pass on the information?? add that to having no trains from queens road almost every weekend and i'm not feeling particuarly fond of southern trains at the moment
  18. i see that yet again there are NO trains from queens road peckham for the entire bank holiday weekend. i can't remember when we last had a normal service at the weekend. very cross.
  19. hello barry my nearest station is queens road peckham and for about the last 3 months the weekend service has been either completely shutdown due to engineering works or running a very limited service. its becoming a bit of a joke now. just wondered if you have any idea how long this is likely to go on for. thank you very very much
  20. it is disturbing - but when you find yourself not getting a place at any of the schools you've applied to and instead being offered a totally unsuitable school instead, its hard to not get slightly carried away on the subject. i never wanted to be a neurotic pushy parent but i guess we all just want the best possible education for our kids, and there's nothing wrong with that in my opinion
  21. i'll look forward to seeing your notices as i wander round the park with my kids and my bugaboo
  22. please tell me you're joking louisa.
  23. she came knocking on my door last week!! it was about 6.30pm. i'm in nunhead- the queens road end. she said she needed ?7 to charge her electricity meter key as she was completely out of power. she was crying and i probably would have fallen for it but my husband was in and he's a lot more cynical than me! she said that she couldn't even heat her baby's bottle so he'd missed a feed - i told her to bring the bottle and i'd warm it up for her. and surprise surprise she didn't come back!!
  24. Hello They take children from 2 and a half as long as they're out of nappies I can't understand why its not full either!!
  25. Hello I've just posted a message about Amott Road Pre-School too - and then noticed your post. It will be forced to close at the end of March unless they can get more children to attend or get some external funding.
