  1. I can't believe someone in ED has managed to get 1. a choice of schools 2. a choice of schools they actually want their child to go to!!!
  2. Sally Scroll back up to see my earlier post - you're fab and instantly very likeable!
  3. Pebbles, I think I met you on one of the learn to sew workshops and you were anything but a bumbling fool. I was totally envious of how together you were, and how confident and friendly you were and I really enjoyed your company. I on the otherhand AM a bumbling fool who has forgotten how to be myself rather than my children's mum!
  4. Mine are the opposite. They wake up if their duvet gets kicked off and they get cold!
  5. I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old. They have all-seasons duvets so i can swap them from a thin one in summer. to a thicker one in autumn and then put them both together if it gets really cold. Think they're 4.5 tog and 9 tog. Currently got the 9 tog on and its about right as our heating isn't on at all yet. My mum is a bit of a duvet expert and always swears by fogarty. Debenhams have a sale section where you can usually pick up some bargains. Think I got ours at half price.
  6. We went yesterday. It was absolutely brilliant! Had three generations of the family there, and everyone loved it. We bumped into the amazing chinese acrobats in WHSmith this morning, and my 2 year old gave them a quick run down of the show!! "Me not like the clown spitting. Why did the bird man keep coming back. Me like the high up men. What were the horses called? Why Woody and Buzz? Why not Jessie? Me did lots of clapping! Why those ladies got shiny pants on?" Not sure they understood much of what she was saying but they were very excited that we'd recognised them!
  7. My youngest was about 19 months last year when we took her and she absolutely loved it! Sat and watched the whole thing with not too much wriggling around or complaining.
  8. You're very welcome.
  9. have just booked some tickets for zippos circus as we had a fantastic time last year. found a discount code to get half price tickets - zipposhalfprice enjoy!
  10. My eldest started scooting on a micro scooter at about 22 months, my youngest was scooting by 17 months. She is small for her age so got some very funny looks as she looked unbelievably tiny on it. They are the best things i've ever bought. Both girls use them every day.
  11. A massive thanks from me too You will be hugely missed
  12. Barry, I honestly can not thank you enough. You are absolutely fantastic. Sorry for late reply to say thanks - had to rush off (shoeless) out of london for the night but now on our way back and we are so grateful for your help
  13. Barry, please help. My 2 year old has jUst thrown my elder daughters green croc shoe onto the tracks at queens road Peckham station. Is there anyway of ever getting it back please? thanks very much
  14. You can get the Overground from Forest Hill to West Croydon
  15. jojo maman bebe used to have them - not been in recently though
  16. I may be wrong but I think its offered in a lot more boroughs that that. My children have been vaccinated in Southwark and Hackney, my sister's children in Westminster, and friends who live in Lewisham, Brent and Camden have also had the BCG.
  17. Huggies Wipes are a lot thicker than normal wipes, but no bigger. They're my favourite. Toddler toilet wipes are thinner and smaller
  18. Train to Victoria and then a walk if its a nice day? Or the 52 bus from Victoria drops you off very near
  19. God,that will teach me not to listen to a word my husband says! I just believed him without even questioning it!! What a wally!!
  20. I liked the idea of an extending bed, until my husband pointed out that it means you have to buy different sized mattresses and then find somewhere in our already too crowded house to keep them! With daughter number 1 we bought a john lewis toddler bed, which we were really really happy with and is still under her current bunk bed as I can't bring myself to sell it yet! Daughter number 2 went straight from her cot to the bottom bunk bed.
  21. I have a 2 and a half year age gap between my girls. It was a perfect gap for us as No 1 had just started preschool a couple of mornings a week, was potty trained and was riding her scooter enough to not need a pram and i could make do with a buggy board. All these little things had given her a sense of independence before no 2 came along and I was always careful to involve her and ask her to help out with the baby, and to moan to her when the baby was having a particularly whingey day. She became quite good at rolling her eyes and saying things like "she can't be hungry again already can she?" Mellors bathtime routine is almost identical to what I used to do, and No 2 was a much better sleeper from quite an early age.
  22. Tor, We were told that if you're in the top 3 of the waiting list you stand a very very good chance of getting in. we were 7th on the list for our school and got a place 2 weeks into term. Good luck.
  23. I agree with prdarling about the unfairness of late applications going above you on a waiting list. This made me really cross last year when I didn't initially get allocated any of my 4 chosen schools. I also think its unfair that people who didn't initially apply to a school can then put themselves on a waiting list and go ahead of someone who applied, on time, and listed that school as their first choice. Just seems like their are no benefits to applying on time.
  24. My daughter is on the waiting list to hopefully start in September. I have heard lots of really good things about it from parents who have sent their children there, and when I went in to look around I really liked it.
  25. tor, my comment wasn't directed at you, i meant people who live 1000m and more away which i would think is almost certainly outside any popular schools catchment area.
