    Ageism

You don't have to put your age on an application .. obviously if interviewed you will be seen but then have your notes prepared to make sure they know why you're the best for the job. Make sure to make any CV achievement not chronologically based (which is popular now anyway). Some jobs advertised online don't exist and are just for collection of applicants.
  2. Pool of blood as I walked passed - fenced off and a police car - horrible we have had less violence recently
  3. Christmas Eve is the same if you're unlucky enough to be around and not left London for the season - almost every pub closed by 8PM Last Christmas The Bishop was open though ... and jam packed.
  4. May make sense for the HA For the residents I guess this means the freeholder becomes some financial organisation that's likely to further increase service charges/ground rent/lease extension charges (whichever is applicable).
  5. Twitter - I know some may like it being X but it is a cesspool these days.
  6. As we stop using royal mail we forget - not used it for 5 years then had a letter needed to go to a solicitor I used old stamps I've had for years - no they're not allowed you need posh bar coded ones now- that letters gone into the Ether -I'll try another. Tempted to go back to what I did in the 1980s write "FIRST CLASS URGENT" on the front underlined and a return address on the back but it'll probably wind them up.
  7. I suspect Rye Lane is seen as an experience and purposely kept as it is. For some visitors there is an attraction in the grittiness.
  8. That white building outside Peckham Rye train station has been graffitied during the festival. You can see they're scared to take down the security fences as it will become a grafitti wall - theres a security guy and a dog in there but what are they going to do. I think its mainly non locals- I see them coming down Rye lane and returning later - they don't stay for long afterwards (except a few) - they don't catch buses just walk to the train. They stop at Tesco to buy beer (good for Tesco then). Angel Oak had a juice bar on Saturday but not sure how well they did. There was a load of paper scattered around this morning by Nigel Road - not sure what from. A load of police/private security were escorting them across East Dulwich road on Saturday night - not sure whether something happened or they just needed escorting.
  9. When they pour past my flat at 11:00am and back up at 8:00pm plundering Tescos like marauding vikings - they just get dirty looks - surprised they don't ever comment on the unfriendly locals.
  10. I used to be able to go to Melbourne Grove - chat to the receptionist and get a same day appointment - I guess it was a cancellation but one was available if I hung around or went for a coffee - this was maybe 10 years ago. I guess this is banned in the new surgery.
  11. There's a hint on what happened here but see nothing else https://www.cio.com/article/2069427/payment-processing-outages-at-uk-retailers-raise-reliability-issues-for-cashless-transactions.html
  12. So who actually checks that the above is followed - are there going to be "surprise" inspections ?
  13. Loads (and it was loads) came down through rye lane - I saw them go down and come back up (around 10:30 pm) - so businesses in Peckham get a boost I guess. The council see the park end of Rye Lane as a nighttime cafe/bar area too so they all come here after the park event
  14. Rye Lane was crazy on bank holiday, there was some kind of drill music rave in the Angel Oak and shopping in Tesco Rye Lane was full of festival goers. The Nags Head seems to have a 3am license on weekends that something happens too. I sometimes think that the suburbs beckon and I'm too old for here. But Southwark council just said they will give me 60 quid towards my Electricity bill - maybe the festival subsidized it 🙂
  15. Just popped down to Peckham Rye Overground cancelled - looks like more cancelled than not. But its better than getting us to work then saying no trains to return I guess. Popped back to WFH

If we had a unlimited supply of cheap energy which didn't have any effect on the environment. I wish that test tube really had contained cold fusion :)

I'm coming to believe that cut in Stamp Duty caused a lot of issues that haven't worked through yet. Overseas investors is a problem in some areas - not so sure it is in SE22 and SE15
  18. If you're in Shared Ownership and you move to get a job you'll find - its difficult to sell as there are issues with cladding (this is the same for many flat owners) - You're not usually allowed to rent out as a term of the lease but with all the issues Housing Associations are relaxing this. - I've seen flats left empty. Ask a housing association as so many people seem to want to move out and can't - they must have a load of flats to rent out.
  19. The Daily Mail made him out to be a radical, a liberal .. a marxist .. well something like that.

  21. Lets go for mine; Crouch End (scary in its way but a mate liked it), Canary Wharf (Macho), Barnet (Some nice pubs but its not the south). The worst Gentrification has to be Elephant Park - rather than a gradual gentrification that was a big bang.
  22. Really strange interview where seemed full of beans and sniffed consistently
  23. I suppose if you know your customer base you know which flags to put up and which to skip.
  24. I can't work out what he means below. ?Can you look me in the eye and tell me you haven?t lied in your political career?? asked interviewer Paul Brand. Johnson responded: ?Absolutely not. Absolutely not? ? apparently meaning he can look Brand in the eye and say he ?absolutely? has not lied.

I saw the documentary "The Spiders Web" - exposed the City - its not all ceremonial.
