Howdy Mums and Dads, Do you know if there is a drop-in or casual child minding service in the area? I need help with my two kids (aged 2 & 3) from Monday 13th April to Wednesday 22nd April and need them out of the house while I work (so a babysitter / nanny is tricky). Can anyone think of a good solution? Hours would be 10am - 3pm Monday to Friday (total of 12 days). THANKS! KWB

Hi, no... didn't think of it. I took photos of the guys and got their car details so that if something did occur I could use that. But otherwise, no. The Ashbourne/ Lordship Lane corner is a bit of a hotspot for unusual activity, with HSBC and Barclays on both corners. Does anyone know if there are CCTV cameras there - and if so, what their reach is?

Hello, did anyone see the group of four men hanging around on the corner of Ashbourne Gr and Lordship Lane this morning? Two were waiting near the atm, the other two in the car (dark grey ford galaxy). I live nearby so noticed them there for about 25 minutes this morning around 9am-9.25am I thought they may have been waiting for the bank to open, but they left before it did. Or am I being paranoid having read too many threads on this forum? KWB

Thanks for keeping the humour alive on this thread everyone :) I have some seriously amazing goodies on ice right now. Come along on Saturday (May 17th, 2pm - 5pm) to enjoy them. Here is a promotional video about the garden and event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yii49wV-Bh4

Hi! Thanks all, really appreciate your suggestions, and warm humour ; ) I'll see what turns up tomorrow and will seek further advice if needed. Naturally, I could of course eat all of the cakes and request more next weekend... I'll let you know how we get on, please come by if you're in the 'hood! Best Kath

Hello, not sure if I am in the right place to be asking this... but I am just wanting to know what cakes freeze and thaw the best? I am holding a fundraising 'Open Garden' event tomorrow afternoon (Sat 10th) and again the following Saturday 17th... people have been very kind offering to bake for our cake stand and I am concerned that with the poor weather we may have too many and so will need to freeze them for the following week. Any suggestions ?? If you're interested in supporting us, it's 2-5 pm 10/05/14 and 17/05/14 at 4 Ashbourne Grove SE22 8RL Here are the details: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?28,1316868 Thanks!

Oops sorry - bit of a duplication here. But to update from previous posts - the pop up shop is a co-operative are group http://www.londonart.co.uk Opening Friday 20th December (welcome drinks start at 6pm). Come along - all welcome -
Howdy, you may have seen a pop-up gallery is going up this week - but they're unsure for how long. The block was sold in late 2012 and I believe a development plan is in. Rumour has it it's for a block of units and a waitrose - is this true?? I am trying to get some idea of the time frame as I am helping with promotions of the gallery. Can anyone shed some light on where this is up to?? thanks! KWB

Ok- seeing this thread seems to be a poll. I am voting for! (and saying a big Thank You to Pam, Manager of the small St Christopher's opposite co-op. I sometime see her in there at 9/10pm at night sorting things out, she, and other charity shop staff and volunteers are an asset to the community). HooRaah

Oh yeah! and have you heard about their "Bra Recycling Programme" - with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer UK - ? Just take your old bras there and Kim will explain. It's a wonderful use of something that would otherwise be thrown in the bin. I really liked Kim/ Bloomers when it was upstairs in the warehouse place near Cafe Nero on Lordship Lane. I am pleased she has moved to a bigger place and wish her every success. Hey Saffron, perhaps she can start stocking man-bras (do they even exist?) : ) -

Help please: do I need planning permission to build a new fence?
KWinberry replied to KWinberry's topic in The Lounge
Update: I telephoned Southwark Planning department today and the guy I spoke to didn't know (he said "go to our website") and when I informed him the link was broken he said I'd need to call back to speak to a duty manager - next week! Crikey - it's a fence, you'd think they would know the height restrictions! So I then asked the penalty and process if it exceeded the legal requirement and he said someone would have to take offence to it (pardon the pun), measure it, send it a complaint to Southwark, they would investigate if deemed unsuitable it would need to be "trimmed". While I'd prefer to avoid this if possible, I will use this forum thread as evidence that I attempted to seek clarification before just going ahead. Thanks EDFers KWB -

Awesome - thanks both! Much appreciate the speedy reply. However I am still confused... Care of motorbird83 and red devil I have learned this: Fences, gates and garden walls- Planning Permission You will need to applytgy for planning permission if you wish to erect or add to a fence, wall or gate and: it would be over 1 metre high and next to a highway used by vehicles (or the footpath of such a highway); or over 2 metres high elsewhere; So when I searched for the definition of a "highway" it appears to be any road... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway ie - if you're building a front fence (facing the road) then YES you do need permission if you want to make it over 1 meter (3.3 feet) ?? Have I understood this correctly? KWB
