  1. Hi I live on the ground floor of a converted victorian house. Why do you think soundproofing can only be done from the flat above? I sucessfully had my ceiling soundproofed and it made an enormous difference. It is not cheap so I would definitely talk to a lawyer who specialises in housing law to see that, if the landlord is not keeping to the lease, they can be made to pay for it?
  2. NO.. NOT A&E. I don't often shout but that is the most ridiculous suggestion.
  3. Hi I'm on Sky and my broadband was down. An engineer came out and spent a day here doing work in various places including eplacing a cable in the box on the corner of Everthorpe road. Hopefully this should/may improve things
  4. I really do not understand the bash the council brigade. I?m not talking about the rights or wrongs of implementing the CPZ, I?m talking about comments like the council is greedy and can?t help themselves. Where do you think the money is going ? It doesn?t go into councillors pockets but into public services which Southwark provides better than many.
  5. I can't really see the difference between going into your garden and going into the street. Just make sure there is no one around
  6. Absolutely the right decision. Could you have a word with Boris Johnson to nudge him into action as well
  7. M and S will be keepig their first hour of opening on Mondays and Thursday for older and vulnerable people

  10. yes in the same position and have 2 blue bins. Very easy to get another one via website
  11. A right wing coup in Westminster? Was that the general election?
  12. Limited resources may be better targetted on harm to people rather than objects
  13. Mayo...Denmark Hill to Canada Water, every 30 minutes this Saturday
  14. Hi Jessica J. I am sorry for all the problems you have had with this, especially as I have always found the recycling service prompt and efficient. Your last line is that the council "just want the extra revenue". The cost for garden waste recycling in Southwark is much less than in many other boroughs. Also the extra revenue of course, is used for council services from which we all benefit.
  15. Craigyboy, empathy or commonsense is needed and a childrens' playground is not a public area
  16. I always thought that Peckham Rye was the best bread anywhere
  17. Agreed Angelina. FreyaM is out of order
  18. Went to kens after recommendations on the forum. Best chips ever
  19. Yes .. I did it. Much shorter. Great fun and for a good cause
  20. A short time ago there was a thread where people were critical of the newly configured A and E at Kings. Now is your chance to make your points to the relevant people at an event at the hospital, about A and E , where you can "hear about the latest developments to improve emergency care for adults and children and tell us what matters to you about A&E services" It is on Tuesday 12th November 2019 6.00 p.m. - 7.30 p.m. King?s College Hospital Boardroom, Hambleden Wing, King's Denmark Hill
  21. And has anyone been to poached? - on the site of the cafe opposite the blackbird bakery.
  22. Loutwo Of course new comers want the businesses that cater to their needs. Every new demographic that has ever moved in to an area has wanted that. Why should ED/Peckham be any different? And no business can cater for the whole community...it is too varied.....that's why it is good to have so many different kinds of business. So I am at a loss to know what it is you are wanting. my guess would be you are harking back to a past some 50/60 years ago when London was culurally uniform and divided into class ghettos , a past that I am very glad we have left behind.
  23. I used Bradley because of the above recommendations and can confirm they are accurate. A nice man who cleaned a stained carpet and sofa for me to make them look good again and give them a new lease of life.
  24. They are nice people in that shop. It seems unfair to blame them when you left it behind.
