Hello East Dulwich, We have a free weekend opportunity for you to come and explore the art of hand engraving, on 24/25 March, thanks to the generous support of Southwark Adult Learning services. Do you like to draw? are you interested in calligraphy? Join us for a 2 day jewellery course to learn the ancient art of decorative hand engraving on metal. It's a dying art, and if you have an aptitude for it there's a great opportunity for a rewarding and lucrative career in it too! We will teach you how to sharpen and prepare your tools, and how to cut lines and texture the surface of metal using these tools. Working on copper for the course, you will then build confidence to be able to hand engrave on more precious metals in your own time. This is a weekend course, running Saturday 24 March and Sunday 25 March10-5pm. You will need to attend both days. Eligibility for a free place: You must live in Southwark. You must be 19+ (no upper age limit :) You must have been living in the UK for at least 3 years, and not be in full time education You must be able to attend both Saturday and Sunday. Due to a last minute cancellation we have another fabulous FREE jewellery workshop this weekend. We're experimenting with casting techniques.. learn how to melt pewter,make a mould using cuttlefish bone or sand, add stones or other materials to your mould before pouring your metal to make wild and original jewellery!. Make a ring or a pendant or a charm - or lots of test pieces to fire the imagination for bigger future projects. You must be 18+ and you must live in Southwark. Another great jewellery course, free to southwark residents who are parents/carers and/or low waged... Design and Make a Pendant with a Stone Setting. This is a 2 day workshop, designed to fit into school drop/pick - up hours. First experimenting with texturing and other sheet metal techniques you will then design a pendant, also incorporating a semi-precious stone of your choice. You will then learn how to make a setting for the stone and you will complete the piece with a bail or a jump ring so it can be attached to a piece of leather, cord or chain. A small amount of sterling silver and a semi-precious stone will be provided for you to make your pendant, also free of charge. Hi there, yes, sorry about the confusion.. it is suitable for ages 5+; for these young ones I ask their adults to be attentive to their needs, as we are working (excitingly) with hot metals. We still have a few places left. Would you like one?

We are running a FREE family workshop in pewter casting this Saturday, 5 April from 2-5pm Suitable for children 5+, each must be accompanied by an adult.
