Completely agree :-) Silvano taught my son to drive and we thought he was fantastic. He really does want to make sure his learner drivers become safe and confident drivers first and foremost. My son passed first time with only 2 minor faults.

Several shops in Dulwich Village had booklets with all the info. Possibly Picture Gallery as well.

Professor John Harper at the Portland Hospital. He's fantastic!

Duck & Waffle at Heron Tower. Open 24/7 but you'll need to book as it's not very big. Amazing views (40th floor) and fantastic food! -
Recommending Plumber - Hunter Heating Solutions

Another thumbs up for Billy Hunter. He installed a new boiler for us last year and just came over for the yearly service. Great guy, very professional and knowledgeable. Communication as always was great. A text the day before to remind me of the appointment and then another text on the morning to say he was on his way. Just perfect really! Besides the many reviews on this forum you can also check Checkatrade.com. -
Saw them passing by. Very, very dangerous. Absolutely no regard for the safety of others.

Absolutely love the idea of another lido in the area!! I swim in Brockwell Lido every day, starting when the temperature reaches 12C which is usually sometime in April. Big difference will be that the Peckham lido would be heated and people can swim outdoors the whole year around. The outdoor swimming season at the Brockwell lido is for most people really short as not many people fancy swimming in water less than 19C (which still feels cold as an indoor pool is usually around 28C). I believe it would be very popular; outdoor swimming is absolutely wonderful!

Hi Nicky, Maybe get in touch with Musico South (musicosouth.co.uk). I'm sure they'll be able to find you the right teacher. -
I did quite a lot of research into the Vitamix as it's such an expensive piece of equipment. In the end I found this machine which is at least of the same quality as the Vitamix (probably better if comparing reviews and technical specs). It is much cheaper than the Vitamix so possibly an easier decision to make. We've had the Enpee for a few years now and would not be without it, it's absolutely fantastic. Super powerful, amazing piece of kit. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Enpee-Commercial-Grade-Blender-Smoothie/dp/B006M5JI5A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452249129&sr=8-1&keywords=enpee

I would like to add my recommendation for Billy. He replaced our boiler and did a fantastic job. Knowledgeable, honest and a very nice guy. -
Any inventive toy ideas for a 3 year old boy?
lulu1 replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Used to be able to keep my son entertained for ages with a washing up bowl with bit of water and soap, brush and lots of plastic animals. He would wash them all and then dry them all. Took forever :-) . Also, had a shoe box with all sorts of everyday items; empty cellotape rolls, wine/champagne corks, small bits of string, lids of milk cartons, sea shells etc.. Really, just about anything that was safe for his age (must have been nearer 4) and that wasn't a 'toy'. He loved it, there were always new things in the box and it really promoted imaginative play. -
Anyone have a recommendation for a 7 seater car?
lulu1 replied to twinsmom's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Maybe a Kia Sedona is an option. It's a massive car, even with all seats up there's quite a bit of storage space left. Very strong and reliable, but with a 2.9 liter motor it is not the cheapest to drive. Great and reasonably economic on long distance, expensive in town. -
Totally agree Tiddles! It doesn't seem like Alleyns School has parties every weekend (if they did we would read about it on this forum..). Just let it go, there are surely more important things to worry about.

My son has today passed his driving test (1st attempt with only 2 minor faults) and I thought I'd recommend his instructor in case anyone is looking for a good local driving instructor. I found Silvano through the forum and would thoroughly recommend him. He's a great instructor who is committed to making sure his students become competent and, above all, safe drivers. His phone number is : 07702 615834. Email: silvanobozza1@gmail.com

There are temporary traffic light on Sydenham Rise. Causing queues back to Dulwich Woodhouse Pub.

There's one in Wells Park.

I drive several times a day over Sydenham Hill and I can honestly say it has become so much more dangerous since the introduction of the 20 m/h speed limit. As I'm sure you'll know Sydenham Hill is a very long, wide road with not much traffic (except for rush hour). If I drive 20 I'm being overtaken every single time I drive along this road. I really do feel pushed into going faster as cars are driving so close to the back of my car, flashing their lights etc. I find it very intimidating. In the 11 years that I've lived in this area I never had any problems on this stretch of road, however, since the introduction of the new speed limit it's terrible. I really believe this is an accident waiting to happen. I fully understand 20 m/h speed limit on smaller roads, however on roads like Denmark Hill, Sydenham Hill etc. it is madness.

Try Bio Oil, worked amazingly well for me!

A member of staff told me that they'll move the bar upstairs, to where the restaurant is now and move the restaurant downstairs. The 'conservatory' will be turned into a more permanent structure and will be restaurant as well. The entrance to the pub will once again be through the actual front door, like it used to be before the refurbishment. I think it'll be a lot better. At the moment the bar area is very small and not very nice. Putting the bar back upstairs will be so much better.

Sports Direct does great skiwear, very affordable! When the kids were small we always used all-in-one skisuits. When they just start to learn there's a lot of falling over, all-in-one ensures they stay warm and dry. Just make sure you bring several pairs of gloves as they can take quite long to dry properly.

Try Bio-Oil. Absolutely fantastic stuff. I tried everything under the sun. Even went to see a dermatologist who prescribed some awful cream. In the end I gave bio-oil a try. Just put it on twice a day. Amazing results. It is very cheap. A bottle cost around ?10 and will probably last you for a year at least.

The new ice rink/leisure centre is in Streatham, more or less where it used to be (on the High Street, close to Streatham Common). There's an enormous new Tesco right next door, you can't miss it. I think you'll have to go and have a look, they don't seem to answer to email and I haven't been able to get hold of a phone number. I did go and see it last Saturday and it is very nice indeed. Huge ice rink, very beautiful!
