  1. My car is keyless entry but you can't drive away unless the key is in the car. Is this harder to steal? Anyone know?
  2. Referring to clutterqueen's comments, Will Norman is London's first Walking and Cycling Commissioner, working to deliver the Mayor's pledges to make walking and cycling safer and easier in the capital.
  3. I'm enjoying The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell. A couple of years ago I read a great book - the kind you can't put down - it was Into The Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes
  4. Done. Delighted to help as a retired geography teacher!
  5. ebikes are increasingly popular. They travel at up to 15 mph which is faster than many car journeys in London. Closures like this one in DV make cycling a more viable possibility for many.
  6. "Professional" bike thieves tend to use angle grinders which can cut through most D locks and - resumably - these hangars too. Very annoying.
  7. yorksgirl, Alleyn's has opened the field across Townley road from the school to all-comers.
  8. Doesn't seem to be delivering to E Dulwich. Fake news?
  9. where will they shift it to?
  10. Yes but often parents leave home before the kids at that age, so....
  11. You can't "ban" 6th formers from driving. They can park away from the school so no one would know. daft idea.
  12. you can't lay the blame at Southwark alone. London-wide, we have no real alternative to restricting car driving. The population of Greater London is steadily rising - bear in mind that from 1940-90 it declined from 8 to 6.5 million. It's currently around 9 million and growing at twice the national rate, by 120,000 a year. There is no room for new or wider roads. Then there's the pollution of the air. Affecting us all. We have to move around as much as we can by walking, public transport and cycling rather than the car. If everyone had cars at the rate of people in Dulwich Village, the roads would be gridlocked almost the whole time. Uber cars crusing around waiting for riders help to clog things up even further, though they're obviously useful to some.
  13. According to Which? there's not much between Dyson ans Shark - except the price. The best of each in their latest survey was Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal 2 (?299) and the Shark Lift Away True Pet NV601UKT (?184). Even cheaper - and as good - was the AEG X Force VX6-2-CB-P (?99).
  14. they all have labels which tell you how efficient they are. The currecnt top Which best buy is the Bosch WDU28560GB which is ?759
  15. the water cannons were illegal and have been sold for scrap
  16. Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus
  17. If the pressure keeps dropping, it means you have a leak somehwere in your system. If it's below your ground floor then there may not be any sign of a leak. You can use Fernox F4 Express Leak Sealer which you insert in a radiator bleed nodule and it usually sorts the problem.
  18. actually exdulwicher,Southwark didn't agree to the theatre - Alleyn's had to appeal to the Secretary of State who granted permission.
  19. alice have a look at Southwark's borough plan. The areas of Metropolitan Opem Land are clearly shown to include these schools' playing fields. As one would expect. I can't see what point you're trying to make.
  20. Yawn. The playing fields are protected like parks and other urban open space.
  21. OK, so that's Trossachs - which is virtually next door to Alleyns. Similar issues with Harris ED in Forest Hill rd as JEG1's post reminds us. It's bound to be difficult when you're next to a school.
  22. Looks a great plan. Should frustrate drivers (including me!) so we'll walk or use our bikes+less air pollution. Works for me!
  23. I think he mean his estimate of it opening in 1985 was only 9 years out
  24. Rebecca Long-Bailey coming out of the EDT yesterday evening
  25. I'm thinking the wall insulation would be really costly. And if you've got a typical Victorian house, you wouldn't want it putting on the outside and covering up all the nice features? or would you??
