Too many pizza places opened in a very short space of time a year or so back. I can't see them all managing to make it. As for Pizza Pickup, I've been waiting to pick some up for ages. But they never answer the phone so I gave up. Will try again soon....

Best advice: - Get the 0655 or 0730 and start your day earlier if you can. - Always avoid the front carriage.the further back you go the more seats there are. - if you start earlier try to arrange to leave earlier and get the 1711 from LB home. ALWAYS seats on this service. Unless your on shifts or in retail many bosses are happy to flex these days.

Well done NewWave. I shall do the same today.

I think the HM is a mile better for beer selection and food. Not all Fullers kitchens are the same.

The stopcock is at point of entry into my flat. The supply can also be switched off in the street meter under the pavement. The meter is newish but I suppose I could get Thames Water out to check...it costs about ?150 though and my plumber is convinced problem is not with them.

Any plumbers or homeowners out there have experience with this one? I have a 2 bed Victorian flat with a low water pressure/flow problem that has just arisen in the past year or so. Details: - Flow is low at the kitchen tap for cold (and before combi bolier circuit is fed) where mains water enters. When my plumber measured pressure at this point (stopcock) it's 5MB which is good. However when flow is measured at this point it is low and below normal. - When pressure and flow is measured on the street at meter it is good. - We have shut off supply on street and kitchen stopcock and measured with gauge to test for leaks between street and point of entry to the flat. There are none. - The flat above and below (GF) have no such issues and are fed via diff meters but from the same street main. - the flow at kitchen tap by stopcock seems to vary from terrible to almost acceptable. - the piping connecting my stopcock to the street is under a concrete path and communal flooring in the flat hall. My plumber can't work out what could be causing the low flow rate. The mains pipes have not been tampered with, the meter at street and stopcock is full switched on and it was great for 5 years or so when I lived there. It suggests some kind of blockage reducing flow rate? Any one come across this and have an answer or could advise next steps? Many thanks.... Wimpole

Man arrested in connection with Dulwich Park stabbing
Wimpole replied to gerry's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi all, I'm sure that as a community all our thoughts are with the innocent man who was stabbed trying to do the right thing in Dulwich Park in this horrific attack. Does anyone have any news on his condition in hospital they are able to share? It would be good to pass on our wishes.... -
Man arrested in connection with Dulwich Park stabbing

This attack was shocking. Whilst the details in the public domain are still unclear, many of us would try to help a woman being attacked or robbed. But you wouldn't expect someone to try and kill you for it. That someone was prepared to attempt murder to get away with a small amount of cash and perhaps a phone is sickening. Sending positive wishes to all involved for their recovery. -
Le Nid - nursery on East Dulwich Grove
Wimpole replied to Amytkwy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Just to provide some balance to the above, our twins have been at Le Nid for 6 months or so now, albeit on a part time basis and they come back happy each day. They do Spanish & mandarin lessons, tennis which they seem to really enjoy. We're in a lot and it is clean and the facilities are good. Despite the odd minor niggle such as a baffling invoice to decipher , the staff have always been friendly and helpful as well as openly acknowledging any issues. We too have noticed the recent rapid turnover of some staff. No doubt this is not ideal for the kids who get used to their carers, especially the younger ones. But I believe that the management team - of what is still a newish business - are learning and are actively looking to address this. This forum is probably not the best place to air specific grievances. -

WGT have great food and one of the best craft beer /ale selections in the area. Also a no screens policy so no sport shown which is often welcome.

Just to say thanks all for the posts above. After much deliberation we got a McLaren Triumph Twin as SENewbie suggested above. I wasn't sure at first as it scored only 50% on the Which? website but for more occasional travel /holiday use it's perfect - much lighter than our monster iCandy pram and is easy to fold, open, pick up and store. It worked well on our flights last week and even survived the baggage handlers. It came with rain cover included which I didn't realise and also has useful mesh shopping baskets underneath. Cheers.

Hi everyone, we have 15 month old twins and are finding our big system buggy (iCandy Peach 3) a bit too heavy for a hassle free journey through the airport. Also worried about it getting trashed given it was an expensive purchase. So we're thinking about getting a lightweight twin travel buggy that folds down...something like the MacLaren Twin Techno? We're travelling later this week so keen to get some advice or even better if anyone could loan one to try out for the trip or sell one to us second hand we'd be interested! Many thanks indeed. We've saved hard to get a kitchen extension. It's a bog standard terraced house on Hindmans Rd and what I'd love to know is why the range of builders quotes are unlike anything else on earth for sheer diversity. We've received 4 quotes so far, based on detailed plans and engineers spec and they come out at ?32k, ?40k, ?70k and ?85K. You've heard it before but seriously...why? Is it "Dulwich tax"? Anyone else been through the pain and got some tips?

You know Alan. JedWood. Lead consultant in sales type stuff.

I really don't understand anyone who commutes into central London between 8 and 9am. The only reason is laziness not to get up earlier (school runs etc aside). Leave at 7.30am, get a seat, have a pleasant ride in and grab a coffee beforehand.

HSS hire on Old Kent Road. I've been there twice this week and they're cheap and seem to hire just about every bit of kit you could want.

Just don't mention the battery life....

Only European one I've done was Benicassim back in 2006. Camping in 40C heat is not recommended. Editors, Echo and the Bunnymen and a blinder from The Pixies are my only memories. Exit sounds decent though....

Ironic that in my hometown of Edinburgh, they spent millions pulling out the tram system after the last war to focus on new roads and buses and are now spending millions of tax payers money putting them back in again. The new ones look a bit different from the old Camberwell trams...see here

anywhere still deliver food badness at this hour
Wimpole replied to RosieH's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'd really like a HEALTHY fast food place on the lane for on my way home. Somewhere that does grilled chicken and a big leafy bean salad in a cardboard box, a juice bar and falafels. The closest I've seen to that is some of the fare Leon does in central London. All the pubs, curries, fish and chips and kebabs round here...not good. In the future it will come! -
I caught Sky News live this afternoon as he came out court and the shouts of "Come on Rocky" from fans outside was quite amusing. This was followed by interviews with local worthies in Liverpool ..."He's just a nice guy"... " He's one of us and a good role model"...what a load of tosh.

Whistling Man is called Dean I think. Just say "Alright Dean" and he is ok. I don't think anyone can say he is violent unless they have good reason. Anyway - as of 6.50pm tonight he is currently standing by the Rye Hotel in a camo hoodie and a white baseball cap looking pretty sharp. He has his earphones in, is digging the beat and just gave the thumbs up to a bus driver. Until he beats me up, I like him. A lot.
