Plenty of space, booth seating, good toilets and decent tunes. Pizza menu is limited and its probably mlre a bar tbh but it wins for other reasons. That said its never that busy - another reason I like it.

  3. A quick search would reveal this is standard from Lou. I'm amazed everyone was reeled in again. Well done Lou.... Scoring you a firm 9 for varying off the old "low market brand crashes gentrified idyll / I was just checking the planning apps format". Would have been 10 if ed-Pete hadn't busted ya. Next time....
  4. Avoid EE....Vodafone also ok...

Tip: I have the same guy taking me in in the mornings for a flat fee. Lots of cabbies sold up and live in Beckenham, Orpington way and passing through in the morning anyway so happy to do a regular flat fee into town. It often works out similar-ish price to Uber and faster in rush hour as they beenfit from using the bus lanes. I do sympathise with their plight esp way TFL have mishandled Uber's arrival, like many other global cities. But change is inevitable and they don't do themselves any favours. Still too many racist, golf jumper types bemoaning not being able to fiddle the tax on cash with the new card machines but hey ho. The new electric black cabs are great and the app is decent enough too.
  6. I predict multiple makeovers ahead for this site as the EI bean counters wonder why it is under performing. With this move they have destroyed one of the best and most successful businesses in the area.
  7. I am scared to go into Wetherspoons because I don't like the yellow vests or pitbull dogs. Sometimes I have to brush the scaffolder's ching crumbs off the toilet seat and the flashing lights from the fruit machines hurt my head.
  8. I liked the French House. Superh onion soup. But that space is hard to make work. The last time it was a cocktail bar it attracted a weird crowd. Not many ED locals and a bit "cokey". Things have changed a lot since then and so good luck to the new venture.
  9. ^^ Interesting thread developing in the Heads up....intresting thread in the main section thread.
  10. I think we need a third cheese shop....

Pizza is some high end dish for the metrololitan elite. Lolz.
  12. I'm assuming self storage in London is prohibitively expensive and outside is cheaper. But I don't want to drive for hours. Can anyone recommend a good compromise and give any recommendations plus rough costs? Will need it for 1-2 years. Thanks
  13. diable rouge Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What happened to Bonne Bouffe?... Good example. The food was decent! And the people that ran it were decent too. I guess it didn't wash it's face. I think you need to be more geared to regular trade. Franklins is a perfect example of this. Obvs a neighbourhood staple and very well run. Food is good. But the casual bar at the front is now just as popular and keeps things ticking nicely.
  14. .
  15. Loving your work all - above. This was three kids firing full sized rockets on sticks using a plastic tube at a height of about 5 feet off the ground. A few yards ahead of my 3 year old kid. Yeah it happens somewhere every year at this time. Doesn't mean its ok. Or that it couldn't scar or injure someone for life. If you all think its ok /normal /acceptable /a non thread then well....
  16. Parkdrive Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What makes you think this is unique to London? Where did I say it was unique to London? Any big city more likely. Perhaps it's getting older and having a family. But I'm up for trading off the vibrant, diverse choice London offers for somewhere less urban shit and quite possibly a tad boring.
  17. ...on Saturday morning at the bottom of Eynella Road by Dulwich Park. One rocket passed me and my 3 year old by approx 8 yards. Several hit houses on the street. Three kids about 10 or 12 years old who looked like they had just finished sports training nearby. Stuff like this I wont miss when I leave the London grime.
  18. To run at 2.5 stars average on Trip Advisor is actually quite hard. You have to be proper crap to maintain that.
  19. My mistake above. Black cab fares are regulated by TFL.

Subsidised by the app provider. But unlike Uber only short term and promotional so normal competitive practice.
  21. Suburban cabbies. Different breed!
  22. Long time user of both Uber and black cabs here... I use both depending on the situation. To add some balance: For sure black cabs have issues with cost and driver attitude but I've seen some positive changes as they've come under pressure. Keep in mind - their costs are set by the regulator (PCO), they are required to use a specific designated vehicle type (TX4 or Mercedes van) which accommodate disabled passengers and they have to complete 3 years of training on road craft (The Knowledge) that still delivers passenger value and safety in the age of sat nav. I don't believe it's fair on drivers to study/train for 3 years, spend ?55k on a vehicle and work to a fixed price tarrif if anyone can turn up and blag an Uber licence in days. It's an unfair playing field and I feel for those who have invested years of their lives getting undercut by a toxic company that amongst many issues doesn't follow saftey regulations. Uber is cheaper because it is subsidised by billions of VC/PE cash to disrupt existing biz models. The only viable reason for doing this is to gain market share and move back to market level pricing. It's amazing how many people don't seem to get this. Either partially deregulate the whole industry to bring everyone level (bad for safety) or re-regulate to accommodate the latest app driven business models. Finally the latest MyTaxi app is almost as good as Ubers and allows excellent advance booking and has plenty promos. They have offered 50% discounts on black cab fares this week and it is very reliable IMO.

"Fernando came over and trimmed my bush today leaving me with a real feeling of space and light. He's great with his hands and leaves no mess behind him". "He always has the best tool for the job" etc etc. Disclaimer: I'm sure Fernando really is a great guy and a good gardener.
