  1. I was recently concerned about my baby girl having a flat head as she persisted in only sleeping on her back. I saw my Health Visitor who referred my dtr to a Physio (standard policy). The appointment took about a month to arrive & we saw someone at Sunshine House. The Physio was lovely & very thorough, they did a full body assessment not looking just at her head. They told me that she had a slight flatness but they allow this to self-resolve up to 20 months. The Physio said she was, among other things, looking at her features to see if they were properly aligned or 'wonky' (she gave a technical term which Ive forgotten). She also said my dtr would probably soon start to move about & change her sleeping position which would help. My dtr has now started sleeping on her tummy with her bottom in the air & I can definitely see an improvement. I also received a phone call 6 weeks later to ask if I was still concerned, which I wasn't. They actually identified another potential issue which we are now referred to have a scan for. So after this long-winded post, I'm basically saying if you are concerned see your Health Visitor & ask to be referred.
  2. I love birth stories & read everyone I could find pre baby. I was just so curious that nothing I watched put me off. Would love to read your blog if you could post a link.
  3. After reading this thread I have just called Goodrich Nursery as I hadn't heard about a place for my son. I spoke to Lyn the Admissions lady who said they sent all their offer letters before Easter but have had quite few parents calling who haven't received their letter. Give her a call, she's lovely, they will tell you if you have been offered a place and if its for am or pm.
  4. My almost 4 year old loves dancing, we often have a boogie to the radio. Does anyone know of any classes suitable for boys?
  5. Baby Booters covers a huge age range and has loads of little girls and boys happily kicking balls and following Coach Danny about. My son went to Little Kickers and enjoyed it but he was a little young and more often than not, would want to jump off the stage rather than listen to instructions. He's now almost 4 and we feel that BB is not structured enough for him and its very repetative and can, at times, have huge volumes of kids in the class. Its great as a drop-in class as you don't lose money if you don't attend which worked for us last year as we seemed to be away most Saturdays. We are thinking of sending our son back to LK as he isn't really developing his ball skills and feel like he's probably old enough to listen and carry out instructions in a more structured setting. Coach Danny is fabulous with the kids and my son adores him so that will be our big regret if we do stop attending.
  6. Bare in mind that if flying Virgin the cot doesn't need to be removed during turbulence but if the seatbelt signs are turned on you will be made to remove your baby and strap them into a child seatbelt. So not a huge amount of difference there between BA and Virgin.
  7. Although would have gotten a school place in DVI.
  8. What's the cost of Alleyns gym class? Thx
  9. Is it that he likes privacy when pooping? My son wee trained onto the potty within a few days but pooing was a whole different story. We went straight to pants rather than pull-ups and we got a pair of pooey pants every day for about 4/5 weeks, so much more gross than a dirty nappy. We did a star/reward chart and I also put his potty behind a chair so noone could see him do the business. He's 3.5 yrs now and still won't let anyone look at him while pooing although now we can close the bathroom door so not an issue. Our problem now is that he takes himself to the toilet for a poo but gets off with no wiping which I normally only discover when I find a non-flushed turd.
  10. Hi, I wondered if anyone could advise me what kind of costs I might be looking at for a nanny for two days a week for two children? One child would be in nursery 3 hours each morning. Any advice or tips on where to look would be very much appreciated.
  11. I bought some bubble wrap and sellotaped pieces together to make two large pieces; one to go under the birth pool and one over the top. A really cheap way to make a heat retaining cover & it worked brilliantly. One other tip I've got is to have straws to hand. I found them really fab for drinking hanging over the side of the pool. I had Birth pool in a box and second all the above comments. Good luck!
