  1. Hi James, on another thread you posted the following: 'At primary school level a bulge of pupils for the next 6-8 years is predicted and plans afoot to cope with this.' Can you say what the plans afoot are?
  2. What are the plans? To give a different school the bulge class each year?
  3. There are more primary kids. as a direct result of the baby boom that's been happening here over the past few years. This year Goodrich was forced to take a 'bulge' class as demand exceeded places so much.
  4. Ha got it now anyway Magoo. So far so good.
  5. My name is Earl. that's quite a good one

  8. I think Reg may mean that the ongoing baby boom in these here parts will inevitably lead to an explosion in the amount of youth that are out and about in the future.
  9. the lathe of Heaven by Ursula le Guin I was trying to read this before the book group tomorrow night at dulwich library but my copy is stuck somewhere in amazon and the library ones havent come back. Does anyone have a copy I could borrow? today if possible! I could read it by tomorrow eve if I hurry! Please PM me if you do!
  10. I get it, halfway up Crystal palace rd
  11. we have been recording the david attenborough Life series and watching that bit by bit. The insects one was a massive hit. predators is taking a bit more explaining. but quite engrossing. also my hot tip is radio 7 between 4 and 5 'big toe books' where they read loads of different stories. my kids love it.
  12. bump as this is tomorrow. come along and see the school
  13. Heber Primary School Open Day this Thursday 26th November from 9:30-11AM, Heber Rd SE22 Heber is a thriving school popular school where in the words of OFSTED ( Dec 2008): "The headteacher and assistant headteachers have a successful, relentless and expert focus on improving the quality of teaching and raising pupils' levels of achievement" Heber has an extremely active parents association who organise regular events throughout the school year. Come and meet us all on the 26th.
  14. when it's dark, you're tired and on your way home and they are clearly drunk? you'd call that flattery?
  15. they are great. if you choose a blue vest they go easy on you. red is a bit tougher. green is strictly hardcore! a really good work out and your first one is free. give it a go.
  16. it's slightly wider. better disabled access on the flat bits. and someone parked between the yellow signs and got their car towed away yesterday morning.
  17. and can anyone here personally recommend any campsites? We have stayed at Cloud farm in North Devon. Tom's field in Dorset and the legendary Blackberry wood in East Sussex, all of which were great. I'd love to hear personal recommendations though, especially if they were good for kids and you can have fires.
  18. They should be banned from ever using the word sheeeeeeiiiiiiiine in a song ever again. sadly it seems to appear in every third single
  19. I went too. I loved Regina Spektor too. survived monsoon. Grace Jones as well was madder than a Christmas tree and all the better for it. I cant believe she kept that hula hoop up for the whole of slave to the rhythm! Impressive. I know what you mean about having to clone yourself though, I missed too many acts I really wanted to see. Did manage to catch Scott Matthews, very good. Also Doves were fun and Thom Yorke was really ace. O and the end of the Gossip's set was brilliant. and Swan lake on the waterfront stage followed by break dancing was very good. sadly missed the phenomenal handclap band due to boring parenting duties. as to the food, quite good but well expensive. ?1 for 1 doughnut! FFS! and no stall selling hot chocolate with booze in it to keep you warm and drunk on the late nights was a blow. nice to see the Sea Cow with a massive q all the time. I was in the family field, and I'm sure the family in the tent very near ours were from ED as well. Any of you lot in the family field? with kids about 9 or 10 ish?
  20. I'm with Tillie on this one. A missed minute of Pendulum is a source of serious distress for me too.
  21. Brockwell Lido is in the shortlist for National Lottery good causes as a heritage site. Give it a vote folks....... it's a great place and a brilliant resource for ED types especially in this weather. http://www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards/shortlist.cfm?id_category=5
  22. Hey Marmora Man, can I have a go on those books? will pass them back onto the forum after?
  23. I know mums who have started local kid-class related businesses...art and music, or taken franchises of usborne books or similiar. I have been recommended women like us for advice: http://www.womenlikeus.org.uk/home.aspx I am going to a free welcome session at their office in London Bridge. I will let you know how it goes! they are a registered charity so they get grants for some of their training.
  24. It's all about Spock, the young Spock, either the new one or Leonard Nimoy in his prime. and Omar from the Wire.
  25. Lovely poetry Mr Max. I think that Wanno should print off this thread, take it down to Up and Running (under pretence of not being the one who started it) In a kind of, OMG did you see this on the forum kind of way. Great starting point for a chat.......maybe a drink.............who knows?
