  1. Dear All, just a quick reminder that dogs are still meant to be kept on their leads in the cemetery, as per the link below: unfortunately, a dog running free killed one of our neighbours' cats today, grabbing it off the cemetery wall at the end of their garden; their kids heard a commotion out the back - and found their dead pet a few minutes later when they got round there. Horrible and completely avoidable. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parks-and-open-spaces/parks/nunhead-cemetery
  2. Not yet, unfortunately.
  3. Thanks - have DMd you.
  4. Thanks very much.
  5. Thanks very much. I had no idea that was the case with Battersea. (And just to be clear, the vet didn't mention them specifically - now I know why).
  6. Hello all, I'm wondering if anyone can help. A change in circumstances means my niece is having to move house in a couple of weeks and isn't able to take her cat Lotty with her. As such, she's looking to re-home her and is, unsurprisingly, keen that she goes to a kind and caring home. I've chatted with the Neighbourhood Vet who, besides recommending the usual places to approach (Celia Hammond, Cat Protection etc') suggested putting something up on the forum to see if anyone can recommend any other routes to explore. The situation's made more difficult by the fact that Lotty's semi-feral, due to being taken too young from her mother. We would take her ourselves but we already have four cats, which is a) plenty and b) potentially difficult, as they might not get on. Is anyone aware of any other options we could look at, or of anyone who'd make a kind and patient owner? Cheers, Pete
  7. Two people on a scooter - faces completely hidden by visors, number plate covered with a bin liner - mounted the pavement twice in quick succession on Sunday afternoon, trying to steal people's smartphones, in the area by Nunhead station. Fortunately, they were unsuccessful both times. Unfortunately, I was too slow to get any pictures. This sort of thing's prevalent in other parts of town, so it's no a surprise that it's here too. Hopefully it was an isolated incident but please remember to keep your wits about you if you're walking and using your smartphone.
  8. As per the attached pictures. Found on Ivydale Road in the small hours of this morning. It's currently sheltering with us. Send me a private message if it looks like it's yours. Cheers, Pete
  9. I got knocked off my bike yesterday on East Dulwich road by a guy turning into the converted flats opposite the Jet garage. It's the third time in two years I've been knocked off - the first time the woman who did it didn't even stop and the second time the bloke who did it stopped to scream obscenities at me. This time, though, the guy who knocked me off not only stopped but accompanied me to Balfe's Bikes to pay for the new wheel I needed as a result of the accident, even though he had to go home to get his wallet first. What a thoroughly decent chap - it's good to have a few experiences like this to restore your faith in human nature. The guy's a builder and lives locally - if that's an indication of his attitude, he might be worth checking out if you're considering getting some work done. PM me if you're interested - I have his phone number. Cheers, Pedro
  10. http://www.decanter.com/news/266933.html?aff=rss Well done them.
  11. Live on Ivydale Road, work in Primrose Hill. Get there by bike, which takes 40 minutes (about half an hour quicker than public transport). Been knocked off once, several near misses - still beats commuting hands down...
  12. No, not her - she moved to Spain, didn't she?
  13. Does anyone know how the young lad who suffered the horrendous burns in the skate park is doing? Is he recovering well?
  14. I take a similar route on my way to Primrose Hill from Bellenden but, instead of going along Lyndhurst Way and through Burgess Park, I head down the cycle path behind Peckham Library, which joins Trafalgar Ave. From there, I nip on to the OKR for a couple of minutes before coming off at the Bricklayers roundabout (there are cycle paths through the middle) and heading up Great Dover Street, then turning left into the lovely Trinity Street at the Roebuck Pub, as marked on the map above. It's a pretty nice ride.
