My baby was 4 days early (my first) but born by forceps after a long labour. I was in alot of pain/discomfort for quite some time afterwards (probably didn't move much from my bed for a good 10 days) and bled for about 5 weeks or so. I really think it totally depends on the birth and then your recovery and adaptation to being a new mum. I would not have been up to going to a wedding 3 weeks after her birth so I would just decide once your baby has arrived. You may feel ready for it but you may equally be totally exhausted, emotional and still recovering.....

Nanny share - who buys the double buggy?
Indiana replied to Lochie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We bought a Phil & Teds on the forum and two footmuffs from John lewis. Total cost ?150 which we covered between the two families on the understanding it would be sold at the end of the arrangement. Given the price and condition of the buggy I don't think we will be out of pocket much. Keep a beedy eye on the forum for people selling and move quickly. -

Indiana replied to Smiler's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Right - it's been the opening credits and I'm already welling up....good god! -
Have used sitters regularly since my baby was 6 months old - and we now usually have the same sitter come to us - she is a mum who works in childcare. Alot of my friends also use sitters - very reliable service

Venue for a one year olds party!
Indiana replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We had a joint 1st birthday party upstairs in the Mag in October and it was 80 pounds for 2 - 6pm. We didn;t need the bar up there (we brought the party food with us and then got drinks from downstairs) so not sure what the minimum spend is if you use the bar (prob more for an evening event?) -
We left our baby at 9 months for 3 1/2 days with my parents to go to a wedding in the south of france. It was a great break and she wasn't affected by it at all. I think it's pretty healthy to have time away as a couple so had no hesitation and I really don't think they are affected emotionally long term! However - it was with her grandparents who she had stayed with overnight before without us (although this 3 days was in our house) and also, probably more importantly I had stopped breastfeeding by then so was not worried about breaking that. It is a dilemma and the last thing you want to do is go and then worry the whole time. You have to do what feels right, perhaps do a test run for a day and a night with your trusted carer to see how your baby is?

Thoughts on nanny tax pay companies
Indiana replied to nylonmeals's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Or....we use Nanny Paye but they will match a competitor - I told them I found another company doing it for #119 and they have matched that and are pretty efficient so far -

Anyone having any issues on trains back to ED?
Indiana replied to Strawbs's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No trains out of London bridge to Ed when I got there half an hour ago due to broken down trains - couldn't even access that side of station as they hadclosed it On slow bus home! -
One of my neighbours did this a couple of years ago - bought about 20 foot I think and it made such a difference to their garden.....allowed their kids lots more play space and meant they will stay in the house much longer. Sorry I don't know how much for though.

We discovered the first series just as our little baby was born last year and used to watch it in bed on the laptop with baby Indiana asleep in the Moses basket...didnt realise there is now a second series?! I thought it was great - favourite was the Irish guy...

I like 6 music but it's dab so I can't get it in the car Sean keavneys breakfast show is great..

And another one for the BT 150 and definitely get it before yours is born...although our daughter stayed in our bedroom til 10 weeks you may still need it in the day if she is sleeping and you are out the room and also if you manage to get out to friends houses for drinks etc and want to put her in a moses basket in a room etc....

I think it is totally a personal thing....we went to a wedding in France when my little one was 9 months old - and left her with my parents for 3 days. To be honest - it didn't cross my mind that neither of us as 'next of kin' were in the same country as her. I was quite pleased to have a weekend away with my husband and friends (bad mummy!)

Sounds exactly the same Saila - I hope you all feel better soon. One of my NCT friends in the area just emailed and she too came down with it early this morning. 1.5 days sounds about right too as I was exposed to my baby's vomit etc in the early hours of Saturday morning and it struck me Sunday night Definitely sip water regularly if you can - I think my slow recovery was partly due to my dehydration - can't stomach dioralyte etc and was not forcing myself to drink fluids. 4 days on and feeling 'ok' but shattered
-
I cam down with this Sunday night - was ill all night (on the loo whilst simultaneously vomiting) through to Monday morning and have then felt DREADFUL and weak for 3 days - only feeling normal again now and have been unable to go to work or look after my baby! I went to a regular playgroup today and it seems it has affected 4 other mums I know of this week. Interestingly most said their little ones had a mild case before they then got it...and my little lady vomited up her dinner in her sleep Friday night followed by diarrhea but was then ok - I then came down hard Sunday night Therefore as the virus can be spread by nappies or airborne bacteria after vomit I would suggest you be really careful if your little one is sick at the moment - take extra care washing your hands after changing nappies etc....it's a very debilitating and unpleasant. Joy!

I went to sainsburys today and did notice someone who seemed to be patrolling the car park... I have never been able to park in the child/baby spaces in the past year since my baby has been born so also share your frustration. However now I just go and double park somewhere - normally on the side where the nursery is. That way I have plenty of room either side for loading her in and out and my shopping. It is fine as I only have one child (imagine more annoying when you have 2 and need to then walk across the car park) ...and I don;t give a toss if anyone complains...

Ha ha....didn't I say you would still be on the forum?!! Glad it's going well...good luck

Possible gestational Diabestes in pregnancy - any advice?
Indiana replied to EmmaCC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I too had to go to Kings to have the test which turned out fine. A few of my friends were however diagnosed with GD but they received great care and managed to adjust their diet accordingly. It was frustrating for them in terms of what they couldn't eat but nothing to get too worried about. Good luck
