Help: toddler birthday entertainment advice needed
Indiana replied to VALFR59's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have just had two little parties for our two year old and friends. Both of which involved a little game of Pass the Parcel. We wrapped a small toy in a number of layers of wrapping paper (depending on how many kids there are) with each layer having a little yoghurt bar or (at the second party) a Thomas the tank engine magnet or a Night Garden magnet (from AJ Farmer on LL) and used my ipod to do the music. As the kids are still young you need to ensure they sit on a parent's lap to do the game and also ensure each child gets to unwrap (i.e by the person doing the music stops keeping an eye on who has unwrapped) Definitely keeps them entertained for a good 20/30 minutes and calms them down after playing and before they have the food...cheap as chips! -
Its at the Harris Academy (the girls school) on Peckham Rye park (Colyton Road) From 10am - 12pm Buzz the gate and the receptionist will let you in - come and join

60th birthday present - need some inspiration!
Indiana replied to Al&Em's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We did a kids/grandkids framed photo - I shot the Sherriff in ED did it for us Then t her 60th birthday I took lots of photos and made a surprise album on my Mac - like a photobox/snapfish picture book which she loved -
Gumboots take children for one day a week. Though there is a long waiting list - worth speaking to them. Some nurseries don't take kids for one day as they feel they don't settle but some do and depending on your day you may not have to wait as long. Fridays seem to be the best day as lots of children are 3 or 4 days a week.

I just finished reading the book yesterday and thought it was very good -have you read it too? I want to see the film now but not if it's rubbish! Will obviously have to ignore Hathaways apparently awful Yorkshire accent

We are about to go on a 13 Hour flight and friends have recommended a portable DVD player to let our 22 month old watch some cartoons/Night Garden if she gets particularly restless Wondered if anyone could recommend a particular model? Perhaps one with a Parental Lock so she can't switch it off and then complain every few seconds! Thanks

parent and child spaces in sainsbury's car park
Indiana replied to dully's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oh no? Did I misspell your name? Given you've got your knickers in such a twist about simple parent/child spaces I guess you might need some therapy about a wrong spelling. And by the way, I was just expressing my opinion - the purpose of a forum apparently? -
Good idea Ruffler And you can stop at the Camel Vineyard on the trail - great English sparkling wine.

Again Damien H - you have made me laugh out loud. This time I won't even tell you whether for the right or the wrong reasons I guess that's the beauty of a forum -
We were there a few weeks ago with a range of babies and toddlers. The steam train ride from Bodmin was exciting for them Constantine Beach was great for the toddlers as sheltered and rock pools but also good surf for the adults Port Isaac is also a lovely little port village to wonder around Have fun!

Well put Buggie. -

Buggie - just do what I do when the spaces are full and double park further away. There's usually lots of space further back and I simply park across two bays so I know I will have enough room to get my baby out and won't get a car parking right against the door. Easy. -
Leeds or Hever Castle with a 21 Month old?
Indiana replied to Indiana's topic in The Family Room Discussion

We went on Saturday and it was lots of fun....we drove and parked on Brailsford Road near one of the gates If you are getting the No 37 I recommend getting off at the stop just before you turn right at Carper Right towards Brixton...(i.e a few stops on from the Lido) I think that entrance to the park is probably the closest to the paddling pools Bring a bucket/water container for your little ones to fill up from the tap/springs

Tell me about dreamfeeding please?
Indiana replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Am too a big fan of the DF. We introduced it at about 3 months when I was still breastfeeding. I'd go in at 10.30pm and pick her up and she would latch on in her sleep and have a good feed quite quickly. She would rarely wake during the feed and as another poster said it was quite relaxing. She then slept through til 5.30/6.30am initially and a few weeks later through til 7/8am. I moved from breastfeeding to bottle at 4 months due to some medication I had to take, which although was upsetting at the time, it meant that my husband could do the DF too which he really enjoyed. We also did it at a time to suit us (i.e if we had been out we would do it later (anytime between 11- 1am) and it caused no problems. My mum also did it a number of times when babysitting. I also enjoyed the odd glass of wine during that time! I think we continued until she was about 9/10 months (again, we could have dropped it earlier but were worried about it affecting our easy routine!) It worked for us, might not work for you. Our daughter has always been a 'good sleeper' though.. -
Been 4 or 5 times at 5pm ish with our little one - can't fault the service or the food. Great addition to the area - Think OP is highly suspicious

I agree with Vez. Bugaboo Chameleon is just fab - great for newborn, then buggy style and so easy to push and go on long walks or running with. Definitely buy second hand though (from the forum?) I then bought a Maclaren XT as our 'travelling buggy'. I.e it stays in the boot of the car so I always have it if I am visiting friends and end up parking a way from their house, it has been on various plane journeys and survived and is easily collapsable (unlike the Bugaboo Chameleon). Again - I bought this second hand for about 60 quid (including raincover and footmuff) on ebay but locally (do a search 'within 10 miles'). I like the fact my Chameleon is always in the house and Maclaren in the car - don't have to faff with getting buggues in and out of the car etc. Oh - and now I have a Phil & Teds for our nannyshare (100 quid second hand) which is great for two....!

Been 4 or 5 times already - always had great food, fresh pasta, fast, friendly service and they are very child friendly...no complaints. Try the calamari - very yummy

Just heard a friends sister called her baby Honor which I think is unusual and pretty - good luck!
