  1. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?9,123868 Does anyone fancy some light flirting in East Dulwich?
  2. Been using TCC for 8 years and always thought was great - then had a few bland takeaways from there the last few times - so agree they have lost their spark recently....will not be so hasty as to write them off yet, but perhaps they should take note of these comments and reverse recent drop in quality.
  3. Agree - have been getting the train from ED to London Bridge for the last 8 years and they have been getting busier but they are still not too bad. The busy one tends to be 8.05 & 8.15 but you can usually get on (walk to the end) and it's not a bad 10 minute stand - or a seat every now and again if you're lucky or if someone's getting off at Peckham Rye (so stand in the aisles). Every now and again the trains are a little late etc which seems to make them very packed and then it might be a squeeze... If you get the 07.29 or the 08.35/41 you will usually get a seat I lived in Putney for 6 months and used SW trains to Waterloo, then the drain to Bank - now THAT was a bad train journey! ED is easy peesy in comparison.
  4. I've lived in various places In East Dulwich for the last 8 years, including 5 years in a lovely flat on Muschamp Road which is actually SE15 and we've never had any problems and love the area! We go to pubs in the Bellenden Road area alot and as a female I have never had any problems walking home from either Peckham Rye station or East Dulwich day or night.... I am sure East Duwlich has its own fair share of characters but that's the same for all parts of London
  5. Thanks Martinchiversfanclub I noticed the other day that there is an open session for Badminton players on Thursday evening and there seemed to be plenty of players down there having games. I think I may drop by one Thursday soon and see how I get on - will let you know and perhaps see you there!
  6. I am a member of JAGS too and quite like the little gym & pool. The staff have always been pretty friendly and for ?34 a month I think it's good value. However, I like to play Badminton but the people I tend to rope in to play a game are non members and the first time we played I did not realise it was ?8 per guest, rather than ?8 for the court (which is free to JAGS members) Therefore ended up paying ?24 between 4 of us for a game of Badders! Now stick to singles matches rather than doubles...so if there are any other JAGS members who fancy a game let me know!
  7. I don't think that's true as we have received a letter informing us of the plans and also saying that those homeowners where the pipe will go directly under their property will be informed separately. I certainly remember our neighbour mentioning that they are going under his garden! They probably don't need permission due to the deep levels (i.e you probably don't own the bedrock!)
  8. Oh dear....he must be bored.
  9. I drove past and she wasn't in her usual spot in the yard of the white house.....yes, it is on the left as you go towards Lordship Lane...maybe she has moved along the road. Will have a proper look this Sat - thanks.
  10. She wasn't there again this Saturday - I am presuming she may have ditched her East Dulwich stall - anyone seen her recently in Clapham or have her number? Wouldn't want to trek over there for no joy - Clapham scares me.......
  11. Now you are just getting carried away bon3yard....bon?
  12. Or it was an April Fool ? However after 12 the trickster becomes the fool....non?
  13. Err...original post was posted after midday??! That means....
  14. I agree with above - if I am going that way I often jump on the first bus that goes to Camberwell Green, then change onto the bus I need as Camberwell has many more buses passing through...
  15. I have been here twice for brunch recently and both times service has been friendly and not overpowering and the Eggs Benedict was great. Yes, they weren't the quickest with the bill etc but overall I quite like the little place...
  16. Great - thanks - I will try that if she is not around again this Saturday... Otherwise ebay here I come!
  17. I need to swap a dress I bought a few Saturdays ago at the little clothes stall on North Cross Road but I went at 10.30am 2 weeks ago and no sign and today she is not there either (although neither are the other stalls!) She usually uses the front courtyard of a white house on North Cross Road and I have noticed that this house is up for sale so perhaps the house owner has stopped leasing the space... Has anyone seen the stall recently and if she has moved does anyone know where else she sells? Many thanks
  18. Sounds fantastic..... A tip from me - The Green had really bad acoustics (i.e noisy chairs, no soft furnishings for noise to be absorbed - all very tinny which I thought made an uncomfortable dining experience) If you're currently doing the refurb can you consider whether your restaurant will 'sound' good as well as 'taste' good?!!
  19. I negotiated to 1.25% with Haart last Summer if that helps.
  20. Thanks guys We ended up going to Beach Blanket Babylon on Bethnal Green Road in the end. We reserved a table to drink and had waitress service all night - great cocktails and good music (though not many were dancing!)... Some of the staff (especially on the door) had a bit of attitude but apart from that it was a great night
  21. I am planning a girls night out tomorrow night in Shoreditch and was wondering if anyone had had any good nights out recently there? We are a group young girls (well 31 ish) looking for cocktails, funky/cheesy music and light on the arrogance - any ideas? Thanks
  22. Cheese from Mootown is really tasty - v friendly vendors too - highly recommended! Love the name as well.
  23. Tried BBC in November - 2 hours late, bland, sloppy and expensive. Back to our old favourite (of 7 years!). One word : MIRASH.
  24. Dry Cleaners near the station - Mustafa is the friendliest man on earth Mirash Tandoori for takeaways Pizzas at the Gowlett, New Year at the Gowlett Franklins for great food The friendly newsagent (with the hearing aid) on the corner of Melbourne Grove nr the station John Alan flowers Mon Petit Chou for friendly service Paine & Hunter opticians The list goes on really....
