  1. People go through our bins all the time up near the top of P Rye park. I just ask them to leave it all tidy and close the bins after. And I make sure I don't throw away anything with my name and address on it. They're looking for stuff that can be re-used or sold I guess (I've seen them take household items, shoes as well as electricals - which shouldn't be in the bin anyway)and I think that if they are prepared to/need to do that, then it's not doing me any harm. And some stuff that gets thrown away has lots of life in it - it's hands-on recycling!
  2. Hey Johanna Try the Forest Hill Road Supermarket, on Forest Hill Road next to where the 63 bus starts. It has a really good value grocery out front and they even do two bottles of (perfectly drinkable) wine for a fiver!
  3. Daisy I can't help with the stolen bike but if your brother needs one to tide him over, we have a basic but perfectly functioning mountain bike with front suspension that he can have. Just send me a message and arrange to pick it up, we are in Peckham Rye.
  4. Bic - I'm not sure but it could be. Was he very tall and quite aggressive? Drinking? He got on my bus again last night, outside Tesco, this time he was drinking, smoking and shouting. He seems to get on the bus to cause a stir, rather than actually go anywhere.
  5. No the bus driver didn't do anything - TFL tell me they are told not to leave the cab except in an emergency, which whilst that makes me feel pretty unsafe, I do understand. I have witnessed a bus driver being beaten up on his bus and that was awful too. The police have been excellent, and whilst it is unlikely anything will come of the investigations I felt it was important to report it, and this is partly why I have posted on here so that others will do the same, if they come across this man. Also I would encourage you if you are a passenger on a bus and witness something like this, please ask the driver to call the police or call 101 yourself - no-one else on the bus assisted and as I was on crutches I couldn't get to the driver. Thanks :)
  6. Hi Meadow It does but because TFL ignored my complaint for 4 days it will now have been deleted. The police have submitted a request for the second incident to help identify him but the request will, rightly, sit below other more serious crimes so may not be agreed to by TFL. If anyone else has problems, please do report it to the police. The man I encountered always seems to have a can of Tenants Super and is very tall - his head nearly touches the ceiling of the bus.
  7. The first time somewhere around Burgess Park and got off bottom of Southampton Way, second time by Tescos at the bottom of Rye Lane so quiet a wide area. Both times it was late, 11pm and about 9.15pm.
  8. Thanks Twirly, I think it is a different man. There are similarities but I don't think it is the same guy from the descriptions of his behaviour, unless he has quite varied episodes.
  9. Has anyone had any problems with anti-social behaviour on the 343 recently? I have reported two incidences involving the same man to the police, who have been very helpful (unlike TFL) and are investigating the issue. The first incident was most distressing and involved repeated sexual and racist comments, the second was not serious but still scary after the first one. I am fine, but as a lone female passenger I was very scared and felt it needed to be addressed. I believe no-one, no matter what race or gender, should have to suffer abuse. And it is possible the man may need help. I would be interested to know if anyone else has had problems with anti-social behaviour on this bus, because perhaps some of you know of him?
  10. Hi Jon I just saw this thread so I am little late in joining in but... Is this any use? http://www.airevalleybikebus.org.uk/ My neighbour in Bradford set it up and the idea is the whole thing is ready for anyone else to take and re-purpose for their own local bike bus, including the posters, logo, website, etc. In case you wanted to spread the idea a bit further. I think it is excellent to share rides and would be really happy to offer my services as a guide from Peckham Rye to Trafalgar Square and a few other places too. I commute on an ad-hoc basis at the moment but if I do ride it I set off about 8.30am. I've tried lots of different routes, and I avoid all roundabouts and as many right-turn junctions as possible. Lucy
  11. We're just off Peckham Rye. Had lots of flashing of lights and a couple of very short cuts yesterday but been totally without power since before 7am this morning. Still not fixed. Apparently it is a substation issue and the engineers are there now.
