  1. Thank you Sue and Springtime. I'm going to try a combination of the two approaches. Will do my best to empty soil from pots but a couple are giant planters so will be tricky. And I don't have a car so taking to landfill is nigh on impossible! So will do as much sifting and squashing as I can. All plants destroyed and off to the great compost heap in the sky. And then will add nematodes with an application. Ow and in spring. I've also found a chemical drench for soil but too, late to use now. Really appreciate the advice. And sadly, no more heucharas.
  2. I seem to have a vine weevil infestation in my garden pots - some but not all. As I have lots of pots, though, this is a pain. Noticed it when all of my heucharas suddenly came apart from their roots and can now see lots of the creamy bugs in the soil. It's now too cold for the chemical soil drench. Is my only answer emptying all of the soil out and crushing all of the bugs I find? Any other thoughts on how to treat the soil? There's way too much to just send to landfill. Feels like there is an ever decreasing number of plants I can have in my garden once I've factored out those that slugs and snails like and those that vine weevils like! Trying not to get dispirited. Any words of wisdom welcome.
  3. The revised road layout, in my humble opinion, is a mess with zebra crossings in all sorts of odd positions, narrow lanes causing road rage incidents and general messed up traffic flow. Maybe it will get better when all of the work is done....
  4. Yep. Seems to be Peckham-ish now. And the blasted planes have started.
  5. Not usually one to grumble about them but crikey there has been a load let through from 430am this morning.
  6. Bit of a trek but White Bear, Kennington. Great food, well spaced tables, large outside area. Went to Lorde Clyde pre Tier 2, very weird to go to such an old school boozer and have table service and hardly any people.

    Green roofs

Pooh, ToAT, how did you plant your sedum. Did you get modules or a mat or just soil and plants?

    Green roofs

I'm in the process of putting one on my bin shed (old one collapsed). I've looked at sites like greenrooftops and sky garden and sedum supply. All have helpful tips and seem to be quite helpful if you call for advice.
  9. Another recommendation for 007 handyman services and the lovely Vic. Really pleased with the sturdy bin shed with space for green roof I've just had built, as well as some solid raised beds and bits of garden maintenance. Smashing work done with minimum fuss and looks as though will last years.
  10. Just to add to the list of glowing recommendations. Paul has just finished clearing a large pile of rubble sacks and the decaying remains of an old shed. As he was in the area, he came within two hours of our call, great price and great service.
  11. Not South Wales but currently enjoying a glorious stay in Orford, Suffolk in a nice Airbnb.
  12. Not ED, but I was delighted to see a seal in the Thames between Tower Bridge and HMS Belfast today. Bobbing around eating eels.
  13. Office just opened for two days a week max of 10 people allowed (usually 30/40). We can all work from home and no pressure at all to go back. I'm ok wah but don't really like it if I'm honest. Prefer not having work in my house and quite like having others around. I went in for the first time last week - glorious! Empty trains, aircon office, two screens, proper chair and table, printer... Will hope to go for another day next week.
  14. Going to bite the bullet and sell the circa 1000+ CDs I never listen to and liberate some space. What experience do people have of using the various selling sites? I'm obviously used to selling on eBay but can't be bothered to do each Cd individually so was thinking of MusicMagpie, Ziffit or Zapper or a n other. The genres I'll be selling are eclectic - indies, rock, clicks and bleeps, weird stuff... Has anyone done this and which generated best return?
  15. They will pass you the form through the window at DMC if you arrange to collect one. No problem.
  16. Just come back from Blackfriars to Peckham, 445 on Sat. Very quiet indeed. Roughly 80% wearing masks but carriages so empty was easy to stay distant. Been up to London Bridge and back on Saturday mornings and again, super quiet. Haven't been on the ginger line at all but just from seeing it go past, looks fairly quiet.
  17. Thanks. Both in line with what I thought. I haven't had it and am not travelling - but my parents have neighbours who live half time in Europe, frequently to ing and fro ing across the Channel. The neighbours have both definitely had Covid. I confess to being a curtain twitching nosey neighbour, worried about my folks, curious to see, when they return this time, what they do. On past months' evidence, pay no notice at all I suspect!
  18. So, if you've already had Covid do you still have to quarantine on return from overseas? Can't seem to find the answer. I'm presuming yes because there is still no firm view on whether you can get it twice. (Hypothetical question - I'm not going anywhere!)
  19. Anyone else watching Apocalypse Now just to drown out the noise of the endless helicopters hovering overhead?
  20. I don't Im afraid - but the the northbound buses took a west bound diversion at Marble Arch weirdly. Not sure if they directed cars a different way?
