  1. A friend of mine who lives in Bristol does this so he can still work in London. He uses this website which may give you a few ideas on costs and stuff http://www.mondaytofriday.com/rent-rooms
  2. And if we're talking heart wrenching minimalism - Vini Reilly. Swoon.
  3. Guess it depends what you want from your guitar men. I stick a vote or two in for Jimmy Page, Dave Navarro, David Gilmour and the lovely Bob Mould back in the day...
  4. And Lambs Conduit St is good for a wander. Wild and Wood for offer on New Oxford Street. Oh and the Fleet River Bakery behind Holborn tube is good for lunch, tea and cake.
  5. Here's the link to place you need to get it from https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ - just doing mine at the mo.
  6. It's instant, costs about a tender. Don't need flight numbers as it lasts or a year or two so covers multiple visits.
  7. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on the edge of TriBeCa. Ok so not the most glam of hotels but really good price, decent sized rooms, great location if you don't want to be right in the heart of things. I'd stay there agin anytime.
  8. Our usual collection day is Weds but had our blue bin emptied today instead.

    Great Gigs

Holly Johnson closing he Save the Children night at Union Chapel Thursday one. Sang The Poer f Love with string section backing. Gorgeous venue, great once, beautiful tune. Made up for the weirdness of seeing Tim Burgess duetting with Myleene Klass on a harp earlier in the night....
  10. Haus of Wood. AC/DC sequeinginto Dire Straits.
  11. We use masking tape round all the door frame and over key holes, as well as a draught excluder brush strip at the bottom, and a stuffed draught excluder once we're in. Masking tape is good cos it doesn't ruin the paint but it stuffs up the gaps brilliantly!
  12. Try calling phonepayplus, the premium rate regulator. Very helpful. http://www.phonepayplus.org.uk/For-the-Public.aspx
  13. Unless they're the nasty orange ladybirds that eat the splendid red ladybirds that is.
  14. And to make it worse - ours are 'bad' ladybirds ie not native 'good' ladybirds. If they were good ones I'd not be hoovering them.
  15. Us too. I think they live in the sash windows. They come back every year. Hoovering seems to be only solution but will try the Olbas oil tip!
  16. I live just round the corner and absolutely love it. As others have said, the 'top end' (lyndhurst end) is nicer but at least the walk from the bus stop isn't so far if you're at the fire station end. Walking distance to Bellenden Rd pubs and shops in no time - and to Rye Lane and Camberwell so ideally placed for me. That said, I do sometimes, as a lone female, find the first bit of Talfourd a bit spooky when walking home late at night.

Very best of luck - keep us informed of progress!!
  18. Not East Dulwich but the Mousetail Coffee stall outside Peckham Library has great coffee and sells beans
  19. You got: hammersmith and city line. You're no-ones favourite but from time to time you come into your own. The unsung hero of your friendship group. Bit miserable eh? And I don't do West London...
  20. Yup - definitely cats. A pump action water pistol every time we saw one did the job for a while - but we've clearly let our guard slip. Currently our tiny garden is being protected by chilli flakes, coffe grounds and a liberal sprinkling of ant cat stink powder. Effective but horrid. Really do fancy one of the motion detected sprinklers....
  21. Fed up of cleaning up cat poo from my flower bed. Stinky cat repelling powder is ok but - it stinks: so keeps me out of the garden too! Thinking of getting one of those automatic cat detecting water sprinklers. Has anyone used one? Any other brilliant non-stinky ideas?!
  22. Ah! This is what I was asking about last week. Been on for past two Sundays and occasionally Fri and Sat too. Does tend to stop before midnight at least. Feel very sorry for those of you who are nearer. Bad enough at this distance.
