  1. We had a little fir tree in a pot stolen and a money plant. It's quite upsetting when you nurture these things from little twigs and they get nicked. Feels too petty to report to police too.
  2. On the theme of building works - neighbours that get their full skips taken away and empty ones delivered at 7am on a Saturday morning.
  3. Lovely people and lovely coffee. ?2.40 for any type of espresso coffee with milk.
  4. Also, copper pan scourers - un scrunched and put around base of plants.
  5. To stop slugs crawling up pots the copper strips need to be a couple of inches or more wide as slugs can curve over them. Rough sandpaper is also pretty good to wrap around. They hate that.

    Manchester

Is second the Heatons (well Heaton Moor specifically) and Didsbury. Lived there til I left for Uni and still love going back. Good vibes.
  7. Have a look at Cambridge House or Southwark Pensioners if she doesn't mind going to Camberwell.
  8. On the corner by the kingfisher mural - think it's the corner with the fancy charity shop?
  9. I saw the aftermath of this but it looked to me as though two or three unmarked police cars had pulled up and they were holding someone down on the ground. I say unmarked cars because they had blue flashing lights and the guys pinning bloke to floor we're wearing plastic gloves.
  10. Colombia road on a Sunday is fun for large quantities - but only open on a Sunday sadly. Super quick to get there now too - Peckham Rye to Hoxton on Overground.
  11. Can I moan about people moaning about things being posted in the wrong thread?
  12. "People" who start decorating then moan every bloody minute about doing it but who won't tolerate paying someone else doing it........ Grrrrrrrrrr
  13. People who queue 10minutes for a bus and only start looking for their pass in their voluminous handbag when in front of the driver.

    Great Gigs

Anyone else t the Manics tonight in Brixton? I love that band. Maybe this wasn't the best gig by them I've ever seen - but hard not to enjoy every minute...
  15. Oh that's sad - I used to love thatlittle piece
  16. Answered my own question. It's called Artusi and opens on Tuesday so must have been some sort of trial night.
  17. Walked past this space on Friday night and there is indeed a restaurant now in it - with people eating and all hat.... Couldn't see any sort of signage and it was too small and busy to pop head in to ask - anyone know any more?
  18. Yup - had many similar experiences. Even given away the odd spare to people just to annoy the scummy touts. Sadly nowadays I find myself having to go and see bands I love outside of London because its easier to get tickets for Manchester, Oxford etc than it is to get them within the first 20 mins they go on sale. I got a fair few good spur of the moment tkts on Scarletmist - but I agree I wouldn't want o spend my spare time running it!
  19. Bring back Scarletmist - when it worked it really was an ethical secondary market. I miss being able to pick up last minute tickets from people who can no longer go and just want to recover face value. I bought and sold on it fairly often. And yes, I was at The Fall gig at the Palais too.
  20. Due to open next week - looks lovely through the windows!

    Rye Lane

I'm with KK and ponder woman. How brilliant to have a street where every shop is thriving, serving its local community and selling stuff people want, need and can afford. If you want something different, that's fine, you can get to it in 10 mins on a bus.
  22. Lord Clyde in Borough. You just want to say in there forever.
