  1. My next door neighbours back garden. Bloody huge and hangs over our garden dropping leaves and catkins continuously...... Not that I'm bitter!
  2. Some of you may go this lovely cafe in Rye Lane. If so, you might feel inclined to sign the linked petition regarding the Councils decision to stop the cafe's garden being used. This obviously has income drop issues, especially in summer. I think the owner quite understands the issues that there might be for neighbours and is proposing to limit use only to certain times of day but council seen unwilling to budge. Anyway, I'm just a customer and don't claim to know what's really going on - but I like the place! https://www.change.org/p/southwark-council-save-lerryn-s-cafe-garden?recruiter=539197655&utm_source=share_for_starters&utm_medium=copyLink
  3. Never Ben a big fan of LA Perla. This place ok though http://www.limalondongroup.com.
  4. You've probably seen this https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/law-and-rights/legal-system/taking-legal-action/small-claims/. Quite like the new Citizens Advice website. They've done a fair bit to improve it.
  5. Im on Denman. We haven't noticed any increase in problems parking. But I appreciate that as a road that's less of a cut through from Peckham are than others we may be slightly more insulated. I know that many in Denman remain firmly opposed to a CPZ. As am I. It will be interesting to see if the proposed changes to one way system and removal of swathes of parking spaces around Bellenden, Holly Grove, Lyndhurst has an impact.

    Bin woes

I have something a bit like this but without the doors. The growing roof is a nice touch. The only problem us that it's been up for a few years and is now falling apart....
  8. Miss Tapas is on Choumert Road (rye Lane end). It is very nice. But very small.

    Landline ....

My dad was a BT engineer and always nags me to make sure we keep a traditional phone!

    Landline ....

I don't know if this holds true now that most lines are digital but I'd always heard that having an analogue landline in case of a lengthy power cut was a good idea....
  11. Cologne is easy by train. Great city for a weekend.
  12. Popped in to John the Unicorn tonight. Like it!! It's massive though, interesting to see what it will be like when the kitchen proper is open.
  13. Looked ok when I peered through window.... If the beer is as good and - relatively - reasonably priced as The Hope, I'll be happy.
  14. Looks like the Dead Dolls on Clayton Road has gone and been rebranded as The Clayton Arms http://www.claytonarms.co.uk. Can only be an improvement in my (personal!!) opinion. As this is now just round the corner from The Copper Tap at the Red Cow and a gentle stroll from Beer Rebelion, this looks like a nice little cluster of beer haunts. Oh and Melange, the lovely chocolate shop, is now open in its new premises on Maxted Road. Still has a little space for coffee too.
  15. Excellent line up indeed. EDF road trip?
  16. Could also be as a result of condensation. Try running a dehumidifier as soon as you can and until you discover if there really is a damp issue? Meaco are excellent and have a low energy model which doesn't rack up the leccy bills as much as others.
  17. It's tiny but sometimes has interesting things on - http://www.peckhamplatform.com And this bar http://www.thepeckhampelican.co.uk across the road from SLG (sort of) might be worth dropping into. Otherwise, this site might help http://southlondonartmap.com?
  18. I took my other half to The Odeon on West Broadway in TriBeCa for his 50th. Loved it.
  19. Those of you who venture to Camberwell may have spotted a new coffee shop, Lumberjack, where House used to be. In case you weren't aware, this is a venture from a great local charity, London Reclaimed, which helps young people into work by teaching them skills. Sadly, they've had some difficulties recently- read more here http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/london-reclaimed-lumberjack-cafe/? They also make furniture to order http://londonreclaimed.co.uk Buy a coffee, buy a table or make a donation - I'm sure all would be welcome!
  20. Tin Drum by Japan. Heard Ghosts for first time in ages on the telly and inspired me to dig out the album. Beautiful.
  21. Isn't The Hope part of the same group (the new build pub round side of Peckham Library). Nice in there. Funny layout but a decent pint for ?3.50 and a good mix of people, young and old, local and student-types.
  22. The chocolate people, Melange, told me that their landlord had been trying to get them out for a few years and they had eventually had to move. They're going round the corner, next to the Ganapati take away and didn't sound wildly excited about having yo go.
  23. Doesn't seem to be any size limitation referred to on website http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200084/recycling_and_waste/1667/bulky_waste_collection/2
  24. Someone with a misdirected motion detecting security light? My neighbour has one on her she'd roof which lights up the spare room every time a fox strolls by
