Electric car charge point
Undiscovered replied to Undiscovered's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Great thank you !! -
We've got an electric car (plug in hybrid) coming our way in June so need to install a charge point. Anyone done this locally and recommend an installer? I also heard you can get a grant to pay towards the cost of this? Thanks

Third trimester travel insurance needed
Undiscovered replied to Undiscovered's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Got my EU card, notes and midwife letter. My business travel is fine with all of that but my leisure doesn't cover 12 weeks before (and after!) EDD. Most stop at 28, some at 32, I'm a day out! AllClearTravel cover up to 36 weeks though, and look reasonably priced so going to go with them. Thanks to all for their messages! Xx -
Travelling to Tenerife at Easter and on my return date I'll be 32w1d pregnant. All fine with airline and midwife but my work leisure travel insurance won't cover past 28 weeks. Has anyone had this situation and could recommend a company that'll cover me? I'm going to try and endorse my current annual but would like an alternative option. Thanks all!!

We used Thumbguard with my daughters fingers which kicked the habit, nail varnish stuff wasn't popular. They suck it but it's not as satisfying so they stop slowly (or at least she did). Teeth improving since. No 2 is 3 in 2 weeks and we are getting one for her (thumb rather than finger) we shall see..... Hubby thinks too early for a 3 year old, but hoping it will be stress red like her sister. If it gets upsetting I will leave it for a bit. Good luck!!

My wonderful GTech has given up the ghost (after a good run and a hard life) and looking for a replacement can see the market has moved on! I need something to just do a quick daily clean on mainly tiled and wood floors rather than carpets (I have a separate vac), something that has a good battery, picks up well and stores easily. Any recommendations appreciated xx

Highly recommend the Yoga Room in the Gardens for both yoga and massage (and soon to be baby massage). I'm on no 3 and so have done lots of Preg yoga and love these classes, great location and teacher http://www.theyogaroom.org.uk and a number of classes on offer X

Not really a family room discussion, but you're a helpful bunch so hoping someone may be able to lend a hand :0). I'm a new trustee for a small charity. They've set up a pension scheme recently, or at least are ring fencing contributions. They need to put them somewhere! Has anyone done something similar recently with a charity or small business? Any advice about who to contact? I only have experience with big corporate funds.... Thanks so much

We've got it in our kitchen diner under marble floor and love it. Have it in utility too so washing dries quickly. Also have it in our bathrooms too which is great, no bathmats!! Means we barely put normal heating on anymore. We have our kids lying on their too!!

Just reigniting this thread. My 4 year old sucks fingers, 2 year old sucks her thumb and just been to the dentist and told to try to make them stop. Have tried the thumbguard and nail varnish stuff but the screams were just too much for me!! Only on 4 year old... I am nervous about trying to stop something which they use to comfort, especially as 4 year old had just started school and has a lot going on. But then I worry about not doing anything.... You get really mixed messages about what to do. I also am aware I didn't suck at all and still had braces for 5 years!!!

Kids laundry basket recommmedation
Undiscovered replied to Undiscovered's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Ooh I've just ordered the Cox and Cox ones - great price thank you. Bless the EDF for solving all my problems :0) -
Boring thread warning.... Wanting to get the above so my kids get used to putting their washing in themselves, and keeps it all separate for the nanny. Any recommmedations on a nice basket for their room (2 girls) would like to avoid Frozen if at all possible :0). I've seem a few (Hop Skip for example) but they look quite small, especially as my eldest will have a uniform from this week? Thanks in advance!

Veg Box-Any recommendations?
Undiscovered replied to buttercupSE11's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Another vote for Riverford, they've recently started meal boxes which we get about 50% of the time in addition to the fruit and veg (and milk, cheese, porridge, oils - actually most things!) and would really recommend them, they give you all the ingredients you need for each meal on the right proportions, and means you make healthy, balanced, delicious meals without having to think too much (which for me is always the hard bit!!) -

Cooking class for my lovely nanny?
Undiscovered replied to Undiscovered's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You Tube!! Why didn't I think of that one!! I'll check that out initially - that's all! EP that looks great I might look in to it myself! Thanks all x -
Before you think I am a horrible boss, this isn't a post saying "my nanny can't cook!"! :0) My wonderful nanny is really keen on learning to cook more. Hubby and I enjoy cooking and we like the kids to eat fresh stuff, and often cook in the evening for the kids meals the next day. My nanny is keen on learning to cook more, and I was wondering if there were and classes around that people would recommend to get her some initial confidence? Nothing fancy at all, I would love to spend time to help her but by definition we don't have much time together. Any ideas gratefully received!

Recently our 3yo ends up in our bed every night. She still has to get up to the loo which breaks her sleep and it's then she wants to come to our bed. Always had both kids in my bed at various times but now I'm ready to get her out if I can (I am tired and my back hurts) Anyone else got any tips? Sticker charts? I am also thinking about putting her in to share with her sibling in the hope she won't get lonely. She also sucks her fingers whilst asleep which I need help on stopping too! Pearls of wisdom greatfully received.

After being back at work after mat leave exercise is just not happening. Does anyone use someone for training/Pilates/yoga in the evenings during the week that they can recommend. I think id like 1:1 and ideally at my house to avoid getting a babysitter. Please pm if you have the answer!! :0)

Fitted Clarks shoes - blistering
Undiscovered replied to GinaG3's topic in The Family Room Discussion
On the subject of Dorothy, I think she's opening a new shop in FH soon but I don't think we can see her over half term (please let me know if you've managed to!). My 3 year old needs new shoes before being back at school, so if Biff my best alternative. she currently has Clarks but I too always feel a lot better when Dorothy measures the kids. -
My (amazing) new nanny has asked for paint and a mat for messy play over half term. Managed to find a lovely mat and aprons on Etsy, but where locally sells washable paint? Just Williams? AJ Farmer? Thanks
