  1. Sorry, yes stuck behind another vehicle! Thanks ianr for translation!
  2. My appeal reply was excellent see below, honestly this is what I was sent by the council! Translation appreciated! ;潓瑵睨牡਍猼ㅴ Edited as did not realise it had my name etc in it!
  3. A house on Dovedale Road was burgled that night too. Sounded like they knew what they were doing as they were in and out before the police arrived, the house clearly had an alarm!
  4. Hi, I just got a penalty charge notice my car for being still on Hasler road for under 4 min. The picture shows a car infront of me blocking the road and it looks like i am in the car. I never get out on that road so its nuts. Anyone else had anything like this

  6. Thanks forum, another great recommendation, Andyman fixed my bathroom, great job, no fuss, fair price, v organised. Happy to recommend!
  7. Hi helenholden I understand the worries around schools, we did not get into our nearest 7 schools a few years back and it was horrid. We did finally get into a school with a bulge class and its has not been noticeable. Your protests need to be seen in the context of shortage in the wider community. If there is no bulge then local children are excluded from their community which I'm sure you would not want. It could be worse! We do just need to support our councillors to ensure that these schools are given the additional support they need and that the bulges are spread out fairly.
  8. We went through this a few years back, do remember that a lot of families are on 6 lists so it can look much more desperate than it is. If they get their first choice they leave 6 lists!. We went from having nothing to having our 1st choice just before the summer holidays. Plus there was loads of movement in the first few weeks of term. Good luck!
  9. If its the same hours as the old owners then this thread is crazy, the ivy group are trying to do something interesting, they wont be able to please everyone. I hear they if they fail to get a licence its going to be turned into a WAITROSE. (ducks for cover)
  10. The nicest pubs i've worked for are free-houses as they can pick and choose the best and it makes them much more competitive on price. Being a free house will really allow them to make it a truly original venue. I just brought my shares as I love the idea.
  11. Hi Forum, The Family room has always been a friendly zone, so expecting to avoid the troll factor here! Today is the first day of Autism awareness month. 1:88 people have autism so a little awareness can touch a lot of people. So here is an Autism Awareness card, these are sometimes given out to avoid confrontation or to spread awareness. This person has autism > Autism is a lifelong disability that affects social and communication skills. > People with autism may behave in unpredictable ways as a result of their difficulty in understanding language and social situations. > People with autism are likely to be extremely anxious in unfamiliar situations. > Please help by being understanding, patient and tolerant. If interested also visit http://www.autism.org.uk/ Thanks http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l608/sidther/Free%20Printable%20Autism%20Information%20Cards/FreePrintableAutismInformationCardsCustom.jpg
  12. In recognition of world autism day I thought an asd app might be an idea. Have used these with several autistic kids (who were bright, cuddly, funny, gentle boys!) and they tended to be a winner (very effective but not super fun). https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/autism-apps/id441600681?mt=8 Ps Hi Snowboarder. Sorry, I only know the endless one. They do all seem to sound them out the other way.
  13. Really need to watch this game of thrones thing, people at work are obsessed with it. ( ps i do love a frivolous thread!)
  14. Welcome to the forum AarenAce, your totally right of course but we could do that and 20 min app time maybe? I'm mostly interested in making that 20min a quality educational one. Like this Crayon physics https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/crayon-physics-deluxe-for/id551347494?ls=1&mt=8
  15. Interesting article on kids running up bills. See above for how to block your kids from spending your money on 'virtual banannas'. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/shortcuts/2013/mar/26/apples-in-app-game-charges-kids-bills
  16. Can be a bit clunky but the Milo apps are great for speech and language therapy. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/speech-with-milo-verbs/id405441288?mt=8 Also Really good on sequencing, for kids who are still struggling with order.
  17. Endless Alphabet is a REAL winner, i love the way the letters sound themselves out when touched. My kids love it. Dr Seuss ABC's is good like that too, kids can touch objects and the word jumps out and is re read out.
  18. Found it! In settings- general- restrictions- choose a code!- turn off in app purchasing. http://mobile.ipadinsight.com/ipadinsight/#!/entry/how-to-turn-off-inapp-purchases-on-the-ipad-and,50d39552d7fc7b5670b6c371/2 Ps should mention that my IT cleaver husband and I have made a couple of games for our son, long way from any istore apps but is part of my interest in educational apps!
  19. I too love tocaboca! The Endless ABC app was beautiful great for your traditionally more Gifted kids, basic skills but unusual words!. It did annoy me that the in app 'turn of adds for 69p' was so soon into the game. My kids would just click on it if I were not looking as it would still be cleared as I had recently put the password in to download it. I think the reason android apps are not as interesting is that its not as worth while making them for various reasons. I used to have an android but switched to iPhone as I wanted to use educational apps with my youngest as he struggles with a few things other kids find easy. iTunes has some amazing resources! Ps you might be able to tell that I'm a teacher!
  20. Thanks for the in-App tip MonkeyMoped, will do! Another winner was Little Digits by Cowley Owl, it counts the number of fingers on the pad and you can add and subtract, plus looks really nice and you can personalise it with your or your kids saying the numbers. We really like tactile learning apps so this appeals to my lot. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/little-digits/id511606843?mt=8
  21. Hello Forum, I have been tempted to start a thread like this for a while but know its a bit of a controversial topic. In my experience 20 min a day iPad time is a great way to get my kids learning,... and playing nicely together. More than 20 min each would be trouble! I'm hoping to avoid the 'kids apps good or bad', debate although happy to rage about the 'in app purchase' thing!. But I have found some apps that really help kids to learn, particularly kids with difficulties, and was hoping I might get some recommendations from other parents. My youngest hated drawing, 'stickman', the free download see picture attached, has turned him into an enthusiastic drawer. One to recommend! Anyone else have any favourites?
  22. Hi, My neighbour had a nasty fall last week and that was before the snow. Sainsburys are selling snow shovels. Might be an opportunity to be neighbourly. Enjoy the snow.
  23. Edited as I was taking thread off topic. But there does seem to be a real dilemma amongst mums who have been hanging in there p/t at work and are now in roles that don't fit so well. I do think we gain a lot of skills in our baby years.
