Facetious comment : I didn't realise Shaun's did pastries... -

If you take membership you get quite a number of free tickets - I've never managed to use all mine (I have 40 at present) One problem is that many films are too long and, even though the seats are very comfortable, I find it difficult to sit right through the performances - I've taken to watching films in 2 or even 3 stages

A touch of sarcasm detected here...

Annoying words that have cropped up in our language
Bony Fido replied to malumbu's topic in The Lounge
Mispronunciation of certain words is infuriating. The word "innovative" is now often replaced by "innivative" even on TV ads by major companies. -

Bag and phone snatchers targeting Dulwich areas

womanofdulwich Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I regularly see men on their phones too! Its not > just women. What amazes me is the number of (mainly young) women who walk around with their phones sticking out of the back pockets of their jeans/trousers - sneak thief's delight. -
Bus stop outside east Dulwich picture house
Bony Fido replied to sweetgirl's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This all just shows how ridiculous was the decision to close the bus stop when the barriers were installed - the barriers were not as wide as the row of parked vehicles, and now, having restored the parking, we have the potential hazards of vehicle doors being opened into the stream of traffic, and of pedestrians venturing into the road from between parked vehicles - altogether things are a lot more hazardous now than when the barriers were there. It would make more sense on safety grounds to close the bus stop now !! ( Not that i'm suggesting they should...) -
Cloud conditions often affect the noise levels, sometimes making it sound as though the aircraft are passing overhead in a continuous stream. As to the altitude this hasn't changed much. If you use the Flightradar 24 app it shows the altitude which, for Heathrow arrivals, is usually in the region of 4000 feet. (London City arrivals are more like 1500 feet, although there are few flights to LCY at present)

Apparently LL Co-op is closed all day - perhaps there was a problem with the recent re-fit ??

Since I went past here yesterday, some evil-minded ratbag has been partially unscrewing the screws in the benches attached to the planters, no doubt with the intention of causing injury to passers-by (it would most likely make their day if an innocent small child got their hands ripped to shreds by it.)

That Woolwich branch was blooming purgatory for customers - one day I timed how long it took to be served - it was 35 minutes after entering before I got my turn at the counter. The staff were so slow, they would speak to the next customer and then disappear for 10 or 15 minutes.

Goose Green roundabout damage 1st March
Bony Fido replied to Bony Fido's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Picture from 3rd March -
No doubt this has been discussed already but I can find no sign of it on ED Forum - "Posted at 7:16 1 Mar7:16 BBC News Travel A2214 London - A2214 East Dulwich Road in East Dulwich blocked and it's slow westbound at Goose Green roundabout, because of an accident. Diversion in operation - 6 bus routes affected" What caused this severe damage to the roundabout?

House of Tippler- another Covid casualty
Bony Fido replied to Wayne24's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The Lordship Pub appears to have possibly gone the same way, judging by the furniture, kitchen equipment etc which has been dumped outside for a good few weeks now. -
I seem to recall it was a Sainsbury's Freezer Centre when we moved to SE22 in 1979 and possibly even an International for a while - memory's somewhat hazy these days. I still feel like an outsider in some ways (moved here from Sussex)
