Technically Telegraph Hill also, but only a 5min walk so i still think of it as Nunhead is The Hill Station Cafe. It's fantastic, community run and lots of different events and pop ups happening there all the time.

Medley's right. Overground, i consider to be the Orange line, of which the services are very frequent. Overground as in National Rail is a different story, 4 trains an hour.

Spotify doesn't rip off artists, labels rip off artists. Digital music makes barely any money for the services that sells them but makes plenty for the labels.

Agree with Ultraburner, house prices are going up all over the SE. We're in the process of selling to move out of London and commute in and looking at properties I naively thought we would have a bit more time but houses are disappearing very quickly indeed. Cash buyers relocating from London are snapping up properties within commuting distance. We still need a mortgage on the property range we're looking at so have been pipped by outright cash buyers on a few properties.

I started looking for a house whilst speaking to agents. I decided which agent to use and then found a house at the weekend and made an offer. Today has been a manic rush of photographers etc coming round with the view of going on the market tomorrow and hopefully selling quickly given the conditions. The house owner has taken their property off the market for one week whilst we find a buyer.

This is the best story i've read on here. Sorry to laugh as i'm sure its a nightmare but it does sound kinda funny when you read it :-)

I would add to my above comment that I never walk around with my phone out but to be fair I don't do this anywhere in London!

I live on Kimberley Avenue, very close to the station, 2min walk. I've lived there for 8 years and touch wood, never been mugged, broken into etc, etc. I may have said the area was rough 8 years ago but no, not now. I use the station everyday, morning and evening, I am female and agree that in the dark the station doesn't look like like the nicest, a bit quiet but I guess I don't have to walk that far to my house. I guess what i'm trying to say is that I feel the safest i've ever probably felt. The area has become a lot more affluent over the years and like ED this could lead to more opportunist muggings, who knows. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions about the area.

It's not just there, it's been happening a lot in general. I've shared many stories recently with friends over the past few weeks where people don't stop at lights, ignore pedestrian crossings. It really is quite sad that some people don't stop to think about the consequences.

Do you know the landlord of the building? Can they not be involved in moving the waste?

It's not in ED but The Old Nuns Head is incredibly child friendly. They have Burger Bear there on Saturday's at the moment so the food is fun too.

Completely agree with KK, people are doing it to themselves. When I first bought my house my fist choice was to ED but I couldn't afford it, plain simple it wasn't an option, so I purchased in Nunhead. The urge to live in the exact are did not outweigh the benefits I could get from a longer term investment in Nunhead in my budget.

Does anyone know if dulwich prep school has one this weekend? They usually do but couldn't see it on their events list.

The schools thing is interesting, this is the main reason I know of for people leaving London, yet you say you think it is better here?

This is a funny thread. I live in Nunhead, don't go to East Dulwich very often, have this image that you are likely to get mugged there or your house broken into from reading posts on this forum so I guess it's all about perspective.

i don't think there are massive rules around this as long as its within a hight limit and square footage and isnt used for sleeping purposes. Quite a few people on my road have concrete foundation summer houses/ offices in their garden and which are of good size. But this is just observation, not fact :-)

Nunhead is definitely nicer than Peckham! I'm guessing the article must be about Dulwich Village, which is very nice but there's not an awful lot going on, though perhaps that's part of the appeal. Lovely houses,roads and green space.

I was on that train this morning to Blackfriars and yep, there were plenty of people who were unable to get on.

Herne Hill is a pretty affluent neighbourhood, I would say. The Sevenoaks/ Orpington train is packed whenever I get on it at, as Renata says. Southwark did very little to notify its residents of these changes whereas the Wimbledon route got lots of coverage. A real shame.
