I think you're allowed to say it's a shit sign without being a 'moaner', especially if you're also one of the first people keen to go in and give it a try. I suppose this new venture and it's specific location is either 'the end of the beginning' or 'the beginning of the the end'.. depending on which side you're on.

Went past it on the bus. At the time - from the signage - I couldn't work out if it was a pub or a 1970's-themed shoe shop. Hope it's better on the inside.

I think it's fished, isn't it? When we regain control of our steel-fishing waters, we can rebuild the industry and make Britain great again.

I'm thoroughly enjoying ex-Con MP Jerry Hayes's description of Boris as ?a copper bottomed, double dealing hypocritical little shit? today.

One thing's for sure: if the referendum vote ends with a 'stay', Farage has done Cameron and the Cons a huge favour.

And everyone else needs to know about this because..? -

He's a dangerous bastard. I disagree on that. He is only - quite literally - 'not as stupid as he looks'. He plays a fine game though - but (I agree with Blah Blah) it's only a game you can play with a domestic audience.

Seems a lot of people out there are confusing someone who is 'not as stupid as they look' with someone who might be fit to run the country.

Does anyone know the best way to break into a flat? Is it best to use a crowbar on the sash window or force the front door lock? I just want a bit of jewellery and possibly an iPad :-)

I looked at Keepass but the autofill bit looked like more of an arse on the face of it, just enough to put me off. Have they improved this now?

Give 'last pass' a go.. $9 / year.

I love a good slap-up restaurant excursion from time to time as much as anyone else, but the rise of the quality 'casual eat' is a great thing. Quite often a restaurant is too much of a commitment. Like taking LSD. -

I believe the average price of a pub main course has been over a tenner for some time now, Jez - that's nationwide, not London. It'll be a tricky one with the food - it's a difficult juggling act as to where it's aiming for, whether it hits and whether it can be sustained. I remember when The Herne first appeared, the food was really quite good, but the initial enthusiasm and care faded and it went downhill rapidly and - now - it's neither a place you really want to eat or drink. Personally I'd usually rather pay more and have something nicer, regardless of where I'm having it. I suspect this Watsons place will be a venue of two halves: weekdays and early evenings - and then a difference sort of beast at weekends and later hours. -

Yes, there?s some hipster bric-a-brac, but behind it - there?s also a very nice and sympathetic refit. Nicely spaced tables, good acoustics, good vibe. Nowhere else around here has an outside space like it. Great beer selection. The menu looked overpriced-pub-grub-plus-bog-standard, which was initially slightly disappointing. But when the food arrived (not burgers FFS.. why are people so obsessed with burgers on here?!) it turned out to be a good deal more ambitious. One swallow does not etc etc - but if (IF!) they can keep that standard up, what they dished up to us would give a good many other places around here (restaurants included) a run for their money. Those who resent having to order a few side dishes with a main to fill-up will complain. Jazz was not in operation at time of visiting. Time for The Dreaded Herne to get its thumb out of its ass and realise some built-in potential. -

As someone in my 'line' once wrote "if you don't specify, you will get a ukulele"

Can't remember the exact variety. I remember I said 'Morris' once - a caught a few sharp words, like I'd just shat in their collective face or something. Morris men (mostly down south) were all shandy drinking pig-shaggers etc. It was quite competitive. Anyway, it mostly seemed to be an excuse to go out and drink lots and lots of beer - I'm sure that was the same north or south. Everyone has a snigger these days if the Morris Mob arrive down the pub waving their sticks and jingling their bells. I suppose it was different in the old days when a troupe consisted of a dozen burly miners built like brick shitters and just on their 10th pint.
-
An ex of mine came from a family heavily into traditional dancing (from the North). Not Morris though. They laughed in the face of Morris. Apparently Morris was a bit of a joke; akin to playing a viola. Of course, to the impartial observer looking in - it all looks the bloody same.
-
It's a better policy to just admit that the places you used to go to have gone - and that you don't know where the new places to go to might actually be. It's more dignified.

Didn't Stacey Turner - the gutsy yet troubled working class gal trying to get out of a rut of life - run away from the square to join the army, where she reinvented herself as Lacey Slater, a gutsy but troubled working class gal trying to get out of a rut in life? Am I thinking of the same thing? Nick Cotton plays the sergeant major.. that one?

DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > When you see the remarkable performances of Lacey > Turner (Stacey Slater) you realise the talent that > is there.. She plays Stacey Slater very well. I caught her in a bit of her in that army thing, were she also played Slacey Slater. Has she been Stacey Slater in any other dramas which I've missed out on?

She will be, Steve

I gave up watching Eastenders some years back (you should try it fox - you sleep better at night and have more energy in the day). However, when I've occasionally caught a bit by accident, it seems to be a scene I've seen before, with the same characters and dialogue. Or in fact, featuring characters who I thought had left - or in some cases - I thought were dead. Has anyone checked that the BBC haven't just stopped making new episodes - and are instead simply showing all of it in reverse order?
