  1. I can highly recommend Paul of Seven7Services as a reliable and local multi skilled tradesman. Paul has done numerous jobs for me over the years, from painting to clearances and fixing broken door handles and taps. Most recently, he took on a huge gardening job on my back garden, chopping back lots of thick bushes and filling in my garden pond for me. Paul is trustworthy, punctual, polite and friendly and I have always found the quality of his workmanship to be outstanding. I have also referred Paul on to a number of family members and friends who have always found Paul a pleasure to have working for them and been very satisfied with the work carried out. Please contact Paul on 07951697847 (No job too hard or small!)
  2. Some of you may be aware of an incident that took place in Dog Kennel Hill Sainsburys at approximately 4pm on the 29th of April. This incident relates to Barbara Gustaffe, a treasured member of the community who worked for around 20 years in Dog Kennel Hill Primary School. After finishing work that day, Barbara did her usual shopping in Sainsburys and became suddenly unwell. She collapsed and had a heart attack in the store. Barbara sadly didn't make it and was pronounced to have passed away soon after. As a close family friend I would like to thank members of staff in Sainsburys for how they handled the situation as it was an effort to keep the scene clear and protect Barbara's dignity. I would also like to thank Starbucks who helped with Barbara's very young grand children who were scared and confused. Also I would like to praise the efforts of the police and paramedics. Thank you to those fellow shoppers who were respectful at the time. Unfortunately the same could not be said for all and I hope reading this post people can reflect on the fact that we live in a generation now where some people would rather pull out a camera phone then help or too busy worrying about their minor inconveniences of not being able to complete their shop all whilst a family are in obvious distress going through the worst moments of their lives. This was extremely traumatic for Barbara's children and Grandchildren who happened to be witness to all of this. I would also take the time to ask if anyone wants to help in any way or has the kindness and means to do so, we are raising money for Barbara's family who have now been left with the financial burden of ensuring Barbara has the best possible send off and celebration of life. Barbara gave so much to our local community working in the school, as does her daughter Natalie who also works in local schools. If we could give back and help in any way to a family that have given so much I would greatly appreciate this. Please copy this link to Barbara's GoFundMe page. https://gofund.me/09fa3a93 Many thanks in advance. Sophie
  3. @ Big D- Foxes are wild animals, and fox + chick does not equal a sit down together drinking a cup of tea with crumpets, with the birds and the bees and flowers... They are designed to EAT chickens, and if you do not take sensible precautions with regards to securing your chickens, then you can expect them to have made every fox's christmas come at once!!! @ BrandNewGuy i agree totally!! :-) @polla2256 loool exactly! I personally do not come across much fox sh*t, yes i HAVE seen it but in such small quantity as foxes are not well fed, compared to dogs and i see dog sh*t almost every day sprawled across the pavement. Im not anti dog either by the way, have had 2 dogs who i love dearly, i love all animals in general, i believe in being a responsible dog owner though as i would not be happy cleaning dog crap off my daughter's shoes at all... Although presently i do not feed fox's, i tell you this; if foxes became under threat by our ridiculous goverment i WOULD set up a fox sanctuary in my back garden (i have plenty of space) and provide for them and make them a good environment... It will not be possible to get rid of foxes they breed like there is no tommorow anyway :-)
  4. In response to "Chillaxed" i am dyslexic so if my punctuation was not fantastic then i do appologise for my learning dissability, i think silverfox got my drift all the same! :-) And agree totally with Susiq, what a dull place our society would become if we had no wildlife in it! So, if foxes are wiped out, what will be next- squirrels, pigeons..... The list will be never ending! Foxes have just as much as a right as we do to be on this planet. DjKillaQueen, love the comment regarding a cull of humans... XD If people are worried with regards to foxes entering their homes through catflaps (which i have never experienced a problem with in my twenty years of owning cats, nor have i come across anyone else with that problem, i have however had Tom cats come into my house on a few occasions) there are measures you can take to stop this from happening.
  5. Thank you silverfox :-) Nice to know im not going completely insane!! :-)
  6. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8726282.stm "Foxes are among the most amenable, least aggressive mammals you could share your environment with," he said. "It's very rare for a fox to be brave enough to face a cat." "I have only ever heard of two cases in my 40 years of dealing with foxes, one of which turned out to be a German Shepherd and the other a cat," he said.
  7. I still am not willing to accept that foxes pose a huge danger to our society, the pictures of the baby are shocking, but the chances of this happening is INCREDIBLY rare. Boris Johnson describing them as a "Menace" is very melodramatic.
  8. DjKillaQueen- I reckon you are spot on- those were my thoughts exactly!!! A cover up for a dog attack, and not wanting to have the animal put down. Another thing, how was the baby dragged from its cot, and didn't sustain any head injuries? Did anyone think about that? :-s Edit*: Ok, i have just seen the picture of the baby with the scratches/ cuts to the face, so scrap that last comment about the head injuries.
  9. Yes stacker285- that did make me laugh a bit too about the gang of 25 foxes in the road, reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds". Haha :-)
  10. northlondoner, can you be a bit more specific? How am i demented? At which point did i state i'd "pick up a gun", like yourself? Do you care to elaborate? I made a few valid points, unlike you... :-s
  11. There seems to be a witch hunt going on with foxes at the moment! It is absolutely ludicrous and a ploy to detract attention from more important issues our society is facing. The recent incident with the four week old baby, as tragic as it was and i wish the poor boy a speedy recovery, had me quite bewildered and a few questions seemed unanswered. Why was a back door left open in the middle of winter, with a 4 week old baby in the first place? It could have just as easily been a paedophile who got in that day. Also, the mother's account of what happened doesn't quite ring true in my opinion. The mother claims she wrestled with the animal for a couple of minutes. Yet she was uninjured? And surely the fox would not have fought with somebody twice, three times its size, for a "couple of minutes" it's most likely reaction would have been to flee. Also, the animal apparently had the baby's hand lodged down it's throat; how was the finger recovered? AND how did the fox find it's way out of the home? Im suprised this fox wasn't blamed for stealing the family car as well... HOW many fox attacks have there been in the past decade? Literally a few, it is extremley rare; they try to avoid human contact at all costs usually. Yes, they do scavenge for food, but this problem could be prevented if the council collected rubbish more frequently. Also, foxes should be feeding off rabbits in the countryside, but have been driven into the city by those snobby w*nkers hunting them on horses. How many times have you seen a fox mauling someone, as a matter of interest? I had a family of foxes living out in my back garden for 20 years, and they were petrified of my Jack russel who was half the size of them. I say more should be done about the dog fighting going on, stabbings, wannabe gangsters and nonses roaming our streets! Foxes DO NOT pose any threat to our community! If a fox sees a door open and smells food, i guess it would put two and two together, and try it's luck; it is trying to survive, after all, like the rest of us are. The moral of this story is take basic security precautions in your home! To protect from burgulars, paedophiles- oh, and of course, foxes. :-)
  12. I often see Kate Ford (Tracey Barlow off corrie) In dulwich park and seen Shirley from Eastenders too! Also saw Jo Brand in sainsburys local a couple of weeks ago.
  13. Hi, you will frequently find me pushing my two year old daughter Tiffany in her pram around sainsburys dog kennel hill, and her screaming the place down, having MAJOR tantrums; the looks i get from other people; including other mothers (i wonder if there kids have NEVER had a tantrum and hissy fit; if not, i'd find this extremley concerning!) And it can be highly embarrassing but i'm learning to care less and less about what other people think thanks to recently enrolling on a Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) course. I will first off try the approach of explaining her behaviour is not very nice, and try distraction techniques but if all else fails, will resort to "Planned ignoring" and people look at me as though i am the devil in disguise! It doesn't help that im a young mum either, so i think people assume that i don't know what im doing when in actual fact im qualified to work with this age group and also been on many courses around parenting and child behaviour. Being humiliated in public is all part of having a small child under 5 i guess! At the moment, i can safely say i'm experiencing the full wrath of the terrible 2's, but i absolutely dote on my little princess :-)
  14. Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated, will do a bit more research :-)
  15. Good idea; but where would you locate it!? There isn't much room on Lordship Lane really!? Also yes, Ritzy and Peckhamplex are both quite close, im not particularly keen on Peckhamplex, but do go to Ritzy cinema quite often, though would definitely like a cinema on my road lol :-)
  16. How horrendous! Sickens me to know we live in a society with predators like this, hope the guy is caught asap! :-(
  17. Hi all, thinking about what would be the best school to send my daughter to (she is two and a half) and we live in the catchment area for both Heber Primary school and Goodrich Primary school, im yet to look at their ofsted reports but would be grateful to hear peoples personal experiences with the schools and how you rate them as schools? Many thanks in advance.
