Potty training - sorry for yet another thread..
byngo replied to byngo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
7 weeks thus weekend gone and still no potty success. Stubborn was a word invented for my daughter. Still she is on full control of her bladder. Still no wee until about 5pm when she can last no longer and then we wee on the floor, clean up with no fuss, have bath and then nappy for bed. Not sure if I should persist or put her in pull ups and tell her if she wants to use the pot she can pull her nappy down. What do u think? It's a bit tiresome having to mop the floor everyday ESP with my baby now crawling everywhere I have to mop and then use mop 2 to disinfect surfaces. Always happens at dinnertime too! -

Hi all Sorry to post again about potty training but we are having a nightmare with our little 3 yr old girl and any similar stories or advice would be gratefully received. We tried potty training last spring when she was 2.5yrs but she just constantly weed on the floor and didnt seem ready so, so as not to make a big issue out of it, we put her back in nappies. She is over 3 and we decided it was time to try again. She is very clever and very stubborn. She seems to have a real bee in her bonnett about not sitting on the loo or potty. Shes been in knickers for 1.5 weeks and manages to hold her wee from 930 am when i take her out of her night nappy after breakfast, unitl about 5pm when she wees all over the floor. She usually runs up and down the house weeing as she knows its not right but when I see her starting to get agitiated I say shall we go to the pot and she just cries and refuses. I worry this cant be good for her, holding her wee all day. We have bought 3 different potties (even one that sings and has stickers) and 2 different toilet seats but she point blank refuses to sit. Bribes of chocolate, ice cream and presents dont register a flicker of interest. Threats of toys being taken away if she keeps weeing on the floor dont work either. Miraculously she sits on the little loo at nursery but doesnt wee. She wont even sit here. I have a baby who is on the move so trying to keep her from crawling in the wee is always a fun end to the day. Essentially if anyone has a similar experience or other tips I'd appreciate it. As I say she is v clever and some of it is probably a control issue. I want her to do it and she knows that so doesnt want to. I am trying the reverse psychology of being calm and making out I dont care if she wees on the floor and just cleaning up but by the end of the day and 2 or 3 wees on the floor I have to admit I do lose my cool. Should we persevere? Should we put her back in nappies for a while. I dont want her to be traumatised but equally she is really ready for this. She just doesnt want to do it yet. Thanks

Needed to borrow - 1 shaped cake tin for first bday
byngo replied to byngo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for posts. Will check out shop on ll. Do you mean green cuisine? I've done a name cake with letter tins like that. You do need to line and does still ooze but not too much. Also a dense cake like carrot works better than a light sponge. Fingers crossed for us both clare. Sally thanks for offer but I'm going to try the 1 and have a back up ready just in case ! -
Hi Does anyone have a 1 shaped cake tin that I could borrow or hire for a day or two this coming week to make my daughter a 1st bday cake. I have looked into buying one and they cost about ?25 quid and will only probably be used once or twice so wondered if any kind soul out there might have one I could borrow. Happy to donate a bottle of wine in exchange. Thanks

Hi. I bought a handpainted little chair for my daughter a few years ago but unfortunately the shop I bought it from has closed. Does anyone know where I can get something similiar? Its a little wooden armchair with woven seat pad and has her name and date of birth on it plus little pics of flowers / hearts etc. I need one for my other daughter. Thanks

Potty training- toddler seems to hate pot and toilet!
byngo replied to byngo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks all. Weve left it about a month since trying and just talked about the potty occasionally, "would u like to sit on the pot while mummy has a shower / changes baby sister etc". Really want to try again next week as my husband is on hols but dont want it to become a big issue. Guess we'll try and if she hates it, postpone again for a few weeks. -
Hi. We have an almost 5 month old and for the past 2 weeks she has been refusing her bottle or only taking very small amounts after lots of screaming. She has never liked taking it and it's always been a bit difficult usually involving boob then bottle. I would happily continue to breastfeed exclusively but she us a big baby and I don't have enuf milk for her and she is waking 3-5 times in the night. Some of it teething related I am sure but I can hear her tummy rumbling. I should prob mention she has had silent reflux so not sure if that's affecting her. Obviously the more she wakes the more tired I am and the less milk I have. I've tried about 10 different bottles and beakers but no success. Any tips? Thanks

Hi. We are hoping to start potty training our daughter next week. We tried to start a few weeks ago but gave up after 2 days as she just got v upset at us telling her to sit on the loo or potty and just wet herself and then wasn't bothered about being wet or dirty (which is v strange as she is the most fastidious toddler). She had previously sat on the potty quite happily when I went to the loo but she was in her nappy when doing so. I've asked her why she doesn't like it and she just says she doesn't and cries. She is due to start nursery in a few months so needs to bs trained plus she is more than ready. She will be 3 in October. She hates me changing her nappy and kicks and screams. Anyone been in a similar position or have any advice? We've tried stickers. Reward charts, presents, outings and ice creams as incentives but nothing seems to work. Neither does seeing her friends go to the loo. Help?!!

Anyone know anything about Dulwich Wood Nursery?
byngo replied to Lochie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi. I went to that nursery when I was a toddler and absolutely lived it. We are hoping my toddler will get to go. Think it's fab but is about a 10 minute drive from Ed. -
Hi. I'd love to buy this off someone if anyone has one they no longer need. Thanks
-
Hi, does anyone have any views on this, good or bad? If anyone has a CD I could borrow if they felt it worked then that would be fab too. Am due in 2 weeks so could return fairy soonish (hopefully) Thanks.

getting to Canary Wharf from East D/Nunhead

Cycle to Greenwich, go through the foot tunnel and you're basically there. A leisurely cycle takes about 35 mins and the roads are pretty quiet. -
Thanks everyone

Hi Does anybody know how many hours/days the nursery at Herne Hill school runs? I am thinking of registering my daughter but I don't want her in nursery five mornings a week from age 3. I am hoping they have more of a gradual build up but if anyone could tell me what the minimum number of hours/days the school run for nursery (and going forward) that would be really helpful. I can't ask the school at the moment as they are closed for the hols and the answer might have an impact on the childcare I choose in the meantime. Thanks

My family is registered at the gardens. I cannot praise the doctors highly enough, in fact one of them saved my little baby daughter's life by recognising I was not just a over anxious first time mum and taking my concerns seriously. She sent us to hospital and luckily my little girl got the life saving treatment she needed. The health visitors are very kind although we don't visit baby clinic much as there is usually at least an hour wait, if not more. It's a small practice so you get to know all the doctors and receptionists and they are all, without exception, lovely. I have to say as well, the nurse is fab. She's friendly and very quick at injections which again, when you have a little one, makes the trauma of giving them injections slightly more bearable.
