Dear ED forumites I am a stay at home mum who loves baking and with my youngest starting school in September I have been thinking about trying to set up my own home baking business. What I wanted to gauge was whether there is a market for yummy home-baked cakes and breads and wondered if you might be able to give me some feedback. I can make anything from your standard loaf or sponge cake to special occasion cakes and bespoke children?s birthday cakes. I use only the best ingredients (organic if you prefer) and can make gluten free too. I?ve attached a few pics of homemade birthday creations. To give you an idea, a basic loaf or sponge would cost around ?8-10. A large rich chocolate or carrot cake -?20. Bespoke bday cakes priced individually. I was also thinking of offering a ?cake of the week? so I can bulk bake and offer those at slightly reduced rate. I am also starting to make homemade bread. A recent winner is wholemeal multiseed Italian bread ? full of goodness but also totally yummy. Is this something you think you would order? Only on a special occasion or on a weekly basis? Just before the weekend maybe? Any feedback appreciated. Thanks

Hi there We just had Anna from Utopia parties be "Rapunzel" for our daughters 4th birthday and I felt she was so good and so sweet I must recommend her to others. She does all the princesses or other themes (disco etc). She is very sweet and accommodating. I gave her a list of all the things my daughter would enjoy and she did every single one of them. She made my little girl feel very special but made sure every child was included and catered really well for the mixed age group. She coped without complaint in the over-hot and too small room (the room I booked got double booked by mistake so we were shunted into a smaller space) and every single child had a fantastic time. If you are looking for a lovely, very reasonable entertainer for your party, I would highly recommend her. Thank you Anna!!! http://www.utopiachildrensparties.com/ Google Utopia Children's Parties for her page and details

Possible lactose intolerance - goats or rice milk?
byngo replied to Redbus66's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Mine both had SMA LF which is lactose free . don't know if it would work for yours as still cows milk but worth a think. They both have cows milk now (since being over 2) and ate fine with it. Hope you get something your little one can tolerate x -
Face painter for kids party?? Recommendations pls
byngo posted a topic in The Family Room Discussion
H Has anyone had a face painter they would recommend? Party entertainers are just too expensive so looking for something fairly cheap and cheerful for an hour at my daughter's party. Thanks -
Hi There I have been at home for the last 4 years with my two daughters but my oldest is about to start FT school and my little one is in nursery 2 days a week so I am thinking about returning to work 3 days a week. I would be able to work flexible hours so ideally would be interested in someone coming to us for 2 hours in the early am (0745-0945) to do school and nursery prep and run and then 2 hours in pm (1515-1715) - school nursery pick up and then home to prep dinner. I would then also need 2 or 3 days a week childcare in the holidays. I have no idea if this type of childcare is available, whether anyone would be interested in doing it etc. I'd like the girls to be able to come home in the pm as the day at school / nursery is long enough (in my opinion) and its nice to be able to come home. Similarly, I'd like them to be at home in the holidays (at least for part of the time). Any views / advice welcome. Thanks

Goodrich primary school - views / info from parents
byngo replied to byngo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Everyone sounds so lovely and sounds like the school handle it well. Thank you ... -
Hi there Our daughter has just been offered a place at Goodrich to start in reception this September. When we went on the tour it seemed like a lovely school and the kids all seemed happy. Our only concern is that our daughter has until very recently, been very shy. She has been at a tiny nursery (20 kids in total) which she absolutely loves and her confidence has come on leaps and bounds. We are worried that Goodrich might be too overwhelming due to its size and just wondered how other parents who might have had similar concerns have found it? Any views generally on the school, good and bad will also be gratefully received. Thanks for your time and help....

Recommendations for villas / holiday companies please
byngo replied to byngo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for all the help.... -
Hi We are trying to stave of Jan / Feb blues by thinking about booking a holiday somewhere warm for say April / May / June. We would like our own villa / apartment, ideally with garden and/or pool close to beach and town centre but actually outside of the town so it is nice and quiet (we have 2 light sleepers!). Doesn't need to be flash but clean and with all amenities. Not fussed where we go as long as reasonable warm, not too far (max 3 hr flight)and good for families with young kids. Any recommendations of villas or holiday companies people have used would be fab. Thanks

We're on Friern Rd. We had lots of internet shopping go missing over the Xmas period. This week we've received two letters, including a birthday card for my daughter, that have been slit along the bottom, someone has clearly been fishing around for anything worth stealing. It's completely unacceptable. I just reported it to the Post Office complaints line (08457 740 740).

Renata, if you're reading.. One o'c club

Was it really ?120k as I've read earlier in the thread??!!! What an unbelievable waste of money in the current climate...how could such a poor effort possibly cost that much? -

How much was spent on installing this playground? It is hugely uninspiring. Yes, there is a swing, a climbing frame and a roundabout but the rest of it looks like it was cobbled together from random building site left overs. The lack of fence around it is also very odd...Why couldn't the whole area, including the space outside the 1 o'clock club, have been turned into a playground to rival the one at the top of Peckham Rye? -
Hi I need to decide whether or not to go back to work in the next year so was just interested to hear how other people manage it and what the cost is. I would be looking for someone to come to our house in the early morning to help get my girls ready for school / nursery and then drop them off and then pick them up after school / nursery and stay with them until I got home around 1630 as I plan to go to work early and return early. I'd like my girls to be at home after school ideally as I think school is a long day and I'd like for them to come home. Is that a service that is available and how much do people usually charge? Thanks

Have those ED/Peckham scenes been shown in Spooks yet?

Yup saw Bushells, Melbourne Grove and Peckham Rye park. -
Hi We are thinking we will probably send our little girl to SHS next year and were just interested, if any parents are on this forum, what they think of the school - we loved it when we went around - seemed lovely, a personal, friendly school, academic but not pushy. Thanks for your time if you do respond...

Advice needed - post-bottle mystery howling
byngo replied to Norfolkvillas's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I am guessing he is taking in to much air as he is gulping his feed. Try an anti colic bottle with one of those tubes down the middle (tommee tippee do them) - worked for both my girls. Good luck
