My Switch card's been cloned/copied/swiped
Administrator replied to Mark's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Our counsel has recommended that we replace the name of the garage in question with *fuel supplier's name removed* so we have, apologies for having to have edited people's posts. We recommend that you don't use your debit/credit card at a garage in East Dulwich and generally make sure you cover your hand when entering your pin and don't let it out of your sight when paying. -
I've edited the above posts slightly, I hope you understand why. If you want to go in and re-edit them then please feel free to do so

Can we have a General issues/gossip topic?
Administrator replied to dulwichmum's topic in The Lounge
For your reading here is Huguenot's original post refering to the horse and Syphilite which was originally removed from a thread about East Dulwich Swimming pool. I believe it is now more apt in this thread. Weirdos. Well I imagine he's supporting your view rather than tendering disrespect. ;-) I'd find it a bit concerning however, Domitianus was historically a pretender to the Roman throne rather than the real thing. He even went so far as to having coins printed in his own likeness to reinforce the claim. Cheeky monkey. To have his support is a bit like having a renowned bullsh*tter as your best mate. It rubs off.. I'm considering whether he's related to Incitatus whose major claim to fame, apart from being ridden by a Syphilite, was being an equine senator. It seems unlikely, given the penetration of latin scholars generally into society, that we have two on this forum. Admin, can you alleviate us of this pedantic burden? -

Legal reasons. Feel free to start another one. -
Here on the Forum we're not judge or jury or have the time to consider evidence in defamatory claims made against each user. Now as a previous post has become personal and legal action has been mentioned we're asking people to be careful, so I recommend that replies regarding the above posts from the concerned parties are withheld even though they're probably going to be really juicy and fun. We're toying with the idea of removing the post, but then we'll might have to remove the whole thread, and then where do we stop? As MC Hammer would have said if his name was MC Dilemma, "it's Dilemma Time!" We will continue to ponder and discuss with our moral councillors. I would also like to point out, as it's been mentioned before, the fundamental distinction between libel and slander lies solely in the form in which the defamatory matter is published. If the offending material is published in some fleeting form, as by spoken words or sounds, sign language, gestures and the like, then this is slander. If it is published in more durable form, for example in written words, film, compact disc and the like, then it is considered libel.

Due to a large amount of posts by people who I guess are on half-term and can't spell words but can write nonsense, I'm afraid that only registered users may post messages for the time being. To register (which is easy and full of benefits) please click here

Sorry to butt in, message for Jockey1: You said "...Had to use (username) Jockey1 because I need to activate my official Jockey username...". Unfortunatley the email address you gave to register the name Jockey has been returned from Hotmail with the message "mailbox unavailable". Please try again with another email address.

If you click on the link that says "Mark Forum Read", does that get rid of it?

The previous post is why we posted the Keep threads on topic announcement "...if you want to chat with other users please feel free to do so but not when it's irrelevant to a thread...". This is a thread about Catholic Schools, dulwichmum's and all_star's comments before batdog's were fine, they were about Catholicism stemming from the discussion about Catholic Schools. Of course some threads do slightly go off topic and that's generally fine, but this is the sort of comment that would probably get removed, I hope you understand. Anyway, back to Mother Teresa, who'd have thought? Just goes to show...

New feature added - highlighted unread messages
Administrator replied to Administrator's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
OldTimer, I thank you. It was a schoolboy error, the missing #, obvious really. -
*bob*, this is one reason why we ask people to register because as in this case CoolEastDulwichGuy has posted a message as you.

Registered users. When you return to a thread (a list of messages about a topic) it may have been hard to see which ones are new to you especially if it's a long list. In order to make it easier to see which of you messages are unread you'll see they each have a pink bar at the top and new on the right hand side. (Firefox users will only see the new bit). We hope you find it useful and please let us know if you have any comments about it.

Too many threads are going off topic and becoming irrelevant which is spoiling this forum for lots of its users. By all means if you want to chat with other users please feel free to do so but not when it's irrelevant to a thread that's discussing the closure of the local police station or when someone's asked for recommendations. Start your own thread. We are going to start cracking down on 'hijacked' threads therefore postings that are deemed to be extraneous to the discussion maybe removed without warning.

Hi Ko I saw that too and thought the same, contacting them is on my list of things to do next week I appreciate the thought

Has anyone heard when the Dulwich leisure centre will re-open?

I sympathise with you all_star, I hope Surma act on it after you brought it to their attention, Mr Ali (the manager) is a genuinely nice guy and tries to make everything perfect for his customers. I'm sure there will be another poll towards the end of the year as to which was the best Indian Restaurant in East Dulwich during 2007, that gives the other restaurants time to spruce up their act and try to get their hands on the prestigious award.

Green & Blue Wines on Lordship Lane kindly offered you, the users of this forum, a free wine tasting session following the discussion of them on this thread. That wine tasting session is to take place in four weeks time on Wednesday 28th February at 7:30pm and is limited to 15 people. To attend you must send me, The Administrator, a Personal Message so I can organise who's going. Lines are now closed When the list is full I will post a message up here of who's coming, please don't just turn up on the night because if your name's not down you won't be able to come in. If you want to bring one other person please let me know as I must limit it to 15 people. This is open to all registered users of the forum, even if you haven't posted a message on here you're more than welcome to attend. As long as you're on the list that is.

I have had to "edit and cut what people say" about 3 times before this, and out of the thousands of posts that are on here that's not many and believe me it really isn't the preferred course of action. When an unregistered user posts comments that are just against the system as a whole and are not really related to the fact that a local shop has opened, it's frowned upon. I shall re-instate the messages just so people can see what you guys are on about and if you want to continue this discussion please do so on another thread. (I think it was mentioning EDKiwi that made me go weak and give in)
