  1. One Dulwich Campaign Update | 24 Nov Dulwich LTN cameras continue to rake in millions As reported by Southwark News, Southwark Council is on course to raise up to £3.3 million in fines in 2024 from the Dulwich Village LTN, bringing the total raised since traffic cameras were introduced in January 2021 to between £13 million and £26 million (depending on how quickly fines were paid). A recent FOI shows that in just the first eight months of this year, nearly 17,000 PCNs were issued. The camera on Dulwich Village generated the most – just over 7,000 fines, or an average of 41 cars each weekday – followed by the Townley Road camera with just over 5,000 fines, or an average of 29 cars each weekday. Very few drivers deliberately incur fines. We have told Southwark Council on numerous occasions that their signage is difficult to read, badly positioned and often obscured but they refuse to do anything about it. Why? How safe is the new £2 million junction redesign? Concerns continue to be raised about the Dulwich Village junction redesign. The railings outside the Infants and Junior schools have not been reinstated. Design safety features have not been implemented, even though road humps to slow cyclists and contrasting colours between pavement and cycle path (particularly important for the visually impaired) were recommended in Southwark’s March 2024 Decision Report. In addition, nothing has been done to ensure that cyclists stop at pedestrian green man crossings. If – as Southwark has repeatedly stated – the safety of children and pedestrians are their priority, the design has clearly failed. London buses are slowing down A new report from London TravelWatch, the capital’s independent transport watchdog, says that bus journey times have increased in every borough over the past decade, even though the number of cars has dropped by 5% in the same time period. An analysis of the report’s figures by The Times found that the biggest falls in bus speeds are in boroughs that have introduced LTNs since 2020. TfL recognises the need to increase the number of journeys made by bus in order to reach the Mayor’s Transport Strategy target, which is that 80% of all trips in London should be made by foot, by cycle or using public transport by 2041. (Current figures estimate that walking accounts for 22% of all trips, cycling 4.5%, and public transport 31%.) Since the Dulwich LTNs went in, Southwark’s own figures show that traffic has increased on roads like East Dulwich Grove that carry the buses on which we all depend, and a TfL reportcited the Dulwich Village LTN as the root cause of delays to local bus routes. Why are London councils like Southwark putting in traffic schemes that make bus travel less efficient? Thank you for your support, The One Dulwich Team
  2. @DulvilleRes am not part of One Dulwich but am very grateful for what they are doing. Am just an ordinary person living on LL - messaged me in privete if you want to meet
  3. Several shops had to move or close from what I remember. And I stopped going there altogether - used to visit the bookshop, stopped for coffee and would take all friends and family to see the area. No more which is my personal protest. The closure of Dulwich Village junction means the roads which would take some of the Lordship Lane traffic are no longer accessible to cars. All the traffic is now pushed to LL, creating even more air and noise pollution for residents living on LL and other boundary roads - as if it wasn't bad enough already. Dulwich Park is 5 min away from Dulwich Village junction - on foot. Lots of space (and the coffee shop) to hang around. 3 minutes walk to Gail's, Crown&Greyhound pub, Pizza Express etc. - but this simply is not enough for DV residents and its removed from reality Southwark Labour councillors and supporters.
  4. But of course. The £1.5 million Dulwich Village junction re-design, despite the complete lack of community support justifies "the new great public space". Being five minutes away from Dulwich Park.
  5. It is completely out of control - the bike companies dump bikes anywhere they want. Nothing stopping people dumping them anywhere they want also. Lime is owned by American company - why on earth American billionaires are allowed to hijack whatever little public space is left in London? Picture attached is next to Old Vic.
  6. Or turn it into affordable flats for local residents who are currently renting
  7. Thanks Sue, still nit sure where to post. Anyway. With Starmer saying they want to build on green belt land, how can places like this been empty for years, not developed, redesigned etc.
  8. Yeah? Can you post the links to other threads?
  9. One Dulwich Campaign Update | 8 Nov Further controversy over the Dulwich Village junction re-design As reported in Southwark News, the Council has chosen to pave over the Dulwich Village junction with stone from Rajasthan in India, which has a carbon footprint up to four times greater than the traditional York stone agreed. The March 2024 decision document promised sustainable materials to reduce the impact of climate change. What went wrong? Separately, One Dulwich has raised community concerns about the the safety of the new junction with Southwark Highways. At a recent site meeting, Highways said that ‘education’ would persuade cyclists not to ride on the paved pedestrian area, but rejected the idea of either signs or a speed limit. When questioned about access for emergency vehicles, Highways said that a date had not yet been set for removing the bollards, and that the narrowness of the roadway was not a problem as fire engines and ambulances could mount the pavements. Disappearing documents Online links to Southwark’s documents about the Dulwich LTNs, including the Dulwich Streetspace Dashboard showing traffic data, are currently broken, apparently as a result of the council’s website redesign. We have asked for documents and data to be made available as soon as possible. Thank you for your support. The One Dulwich Team

  11. Cash strapped? Or is it complete mismanagement and money waste
  12. But of course, the-removed- from-reality-cyclists bubble and Court Lane rich residents remain unaffected; the latter has to be pristine as it leads to The Square of Shame 🙂 Let the plebs wait at bus stops, tripping over decaying leaves that are never cleared.
  13. Not sure if this has been confirmed - if so, beyond shocking: LTN hailed as eco-friendly using ‘Indian stones quarried 5,000 miles away https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/dulwich/ltn-hailed-as-eco-friendly-using-indian-stones-quarried-5000-miles-
  14. Is anyone really surprised? Ltn been a shambolic scam. I now also understand why the basic services such as pavements cleaning are no longer available in parts of Southwark - all the money pumped into square of shame
  15. This should be number one consideration - how it affects nature
  16. Not sure. Just felt sorry for a half-blind lady. Might be me one day. I see a cleaning guy every day on my way to work near Horniman museum - around 06:15am - how come Southwark council can't provide the same, what with the money wasted on LTN and so on? "And btw I don't think this should be in the "What's on in East Dulwich" section, should it? " - yes, number one problem.
  17. State of the pavements across Southwark council
  18. We need dog free space - no matter how "sweet" these dogs are!
  19. In a similar way: Why don't you first answer the basic questions you've been asked many times first? - Who are Clean Air Dulwich - How are they funded? - Do they have any close involvement with local Conservatives /Labour / Lib Dems? if you are unable to answer any of the above because you aren't involved in Clean Air Dulwich and know nothing about them, why is it that you take such a keen and sustained interest in the issues, demand accountability from the council, yet regularly post Clean Air Dulwich / pro LTN press releases unquestioningly?
  20. Except it is the closed Dulwich Village junction, hopefully to reopen at some point and not a square of any sort. Basic services are abandoned and not provided by the council, like pavements sweeping but lets waste more money on redesign of the junction
  21. You should not be taking dogs in there. Same as not taking them across the bridge - now closed - as they can scare whatever little widlife is trying to survive in the park. The 'no dog' signs are there and visible and the area has closed gates. Not all people like dogs, many have bad experience and are scared of them. 'My dog can do no wrong' attitude is rather tiring
  22. One Dulwich Campaign Update | 10 Sep The Dulwich Village junction Work continues on the £1.5 million Dulwich Village junction re-design, despite the lack of community support (see the Phase 3 Consultation Report here). We continue to impress on council officers that their plans show unacceptably poor access for emergency vehicles, and inadequate and badly positioned parking for Blue Badge holders. Further details, and how to object, can be found under ‘Dulwich Streets for People (notice dated 5 Sept 2024)’. Southwark’s poor investment The Department for Transport’s published data (updated last month) shows that Southwark’s huge investment in active travel – including millions spent on LTNs – has resulted in no significant change in either walking or cycling. In fact, walking and cycling for travel (rather than leisure) went down in 2023 compared with pre-Covid years. Maybe they need to re-think their strategy? West Dulwich Action Group The West Dulwich Action Group are taking legal action to fight Lambeth Council over the recently imposed LTN. Read more on their Facebook page, or help them reach their £30,000 target via GoFundMe. Thank you for your support. Best wishes, The One Dulwich Team
  23. way too many of these; Lime boss is leaving luxury life in US somewhere - why is he allowed to take over whatever little pedestrians' space there is to take in London?
  24. Would really like to see the ban in London too
