What work? Two weeks in and we have a hole in the ground and that is it. The major A road blocked for 13 weeks because of London mayor and Southwark council incompetence.

Well, with the current labour goverment following the orange fool in the white house - who knows? They've already given in to lime - owned by american billioner, destroying whatever little public space is left in London 🤔

Oh that is interesting. @Andy Simmons you have been the local Labour councillour for years and years and years so you must be aware of this. "The Grove saga should be coming to an end soon as the lease from the owners - The Dulwich Estate - held by Stonegate Pubs should run out this year. The group recently found financial backers to help with its £2.2 billion debt" - who are these backers? "The Estate refuses to reveal anything about their plans for the site citing commercial confidentiality. But they have had many years to plan for the lease ending" - what are the plans, do you know? Why is it a secret? "However they spent three years refurbishing The Crown and Greyhound aka The Dog in Dulwich Village so don’t hold your breath for anything to happen to The Grove in the near future!" Three years to refurbish a pub 🤔

It is a perfect term Penguin. I live next door. I've been talking to neighbours and we are yet to spot the - very elusive - workers actually being on site. The works should be carried out 24/7 - where possible of course - to minimise the disruption. This is a very, very busy A-road, built over a hundred years ago and not fit for purpose in the best of times. Ambulances, police cars and fire enginees are stuck in traffic for no reason other than incompetence.

The old tavern is falling apart and it needs be developed; the whole immediate area been a no man's land for years. Labour is threatening to build on green areas - how about using places like this instead? The skate park can be rellocated - how about closed Dulwich Village junction? It is closed - get rid of cycling lanes and it will fit there perfectly.

Just went to see what has been done. Apart from fences and installing temp traffic lights a hole has been dug out. Two weeks worth of works. Impressive. The ministry of silly walks truly at it.

"Not many people live in the imediate area" - eh?? Me! "Been polluted for decades" - so we do what - we should die and stop being a problem?

Sorry Jazzer, not a Q for me but I would plant lots and lots of trees and turn it into green space - no dogs - just nature, as much as possible on an A road 🙂

I would turn it into a green space. Having Dulwich Park nearby is not an excuse. Why should residents of Dulwich Village, having Dulwich Junction closed, turned into "piazza" and refurbished multiple times (no end to this btw cause Southwark council apparently has millions to waste) use it as an excuse? People living in the area have to put up with a very high level of: - Air pollution - Noise - Anti social behaviour How about transferring the skate park from the Grove Tavern parking lot to Dulwich Village? Kind of idea how to sort the derelict Tavern 🙂

New review highlights scale of opposition to LTNs A review of 90 LTNs across 17 London boroughs and six other UK cities has found that the overwhelming majority were brought in without community support. Of the 78 LTNs that were subject to public consultations, 86% had sizeable majorities of respondents opposed. Despite this, three out of four LTNs were imposed anyway. The review, based on councils’ own published results, was carried out on behalf of a coalition of more than 15 local campaign groups by One Dulwich, who are quoted in last Saturday’s Times. The article highlights the extent to which councils manipulated survey questions and results to disguise the scale of opposition. Safety at the Dulwich Village junction One Dulwich has written to Southwark Council expressing major concerns about safety at the re-designed junction, urging the Council to install better signage and road markings, and to improve crossing points. Bus number 40 used to to go go London Bridge. Cut by TFL no one knows why - redirected to Clerkenwell where no one ever goes to - misterious. Residents of SE22 started a petition and protested to no avail - who cares? @Andy Simmons I contacted you about bus no 40 ages ago - any updates?
