I live in the area, contacted southwark council and tfl, have not received a response yet why the works are to take 13 weeks. How about working long hours / weekends / overnight? To minimise the chaos and disruption.

Yeah, would want to know which part of Dulwich this individual lives in - or even if it is a real person 🤔

"But renovating the Grove would be even bigger because it's totally wrecked, and there's a shortage of skilled labour and much more expensive materials now..." - yeah, but all of this was also true 12 years ago - imagine how much more the building is wrecked by now and how much more expensive materials are - and how very little skilled labour is available in England now 🤔

@Andy Simmons as the area Labour councilor of many years, can you please provide an update on the Grove Tavern situation? A real eye sore, left abandoned for many years - there should've been a block of flats, new park or a shop built in its place by now. Labour seems to be bent on destroying whatever little green space is left in the country - why not to use places like this instead to build on?

Ok so no work done on Saturday on Sunday. No overnight works. 8am during the week - no one on site. 5pm during the week - nobody. It must be the first ever TfL "working from home" road repair.

"uneconomical to repair" - what does this mean? I can adk a friend to repair it for a fraction of the council cost - why is this not an option? Money wasted on closed Dulwich Village junction absolutely relevant - where does it come from? Why there is money to spend on closed DV and yet nothing left for the bridge in Dulwich Park - if this is a reason for the repair delays?

It's been blocked for ages and no movement so far. Whatever needed fixing initially, most likely it's a much bigger problem now. Surely Southwark Council cannot say this is because of lack money if millions can be wasted on never ending refurbishment of closed Dulwich Village junction...?

As if the situation on South Circular wasn't bad enough, the Thames Water decided to dig out a hole near LL /Wood Vale and block the bus lane

Yeah, "occasional disruption" - we live in a block of flats on LL. We have no gas. Electricity only.

I have ZERO faith in the "improvements work" in my local area since the ltn was forced on people despite the rejection. On the contrary. Sorry to all the council staff on this thread. For years we have been asking for extended time on the crossing on L.L / Wood Vale for pedestrians - no reaction. For years we have been asking for a proper pedestrian crossing on Collage Rd, in front of Dulwich Park - no reaction. But suddenly Dulwich Collage / South Circular round-about is blocked, who knows why, with one hole dug out in two weeks, stationary traffic excacerbated by the ltns, air and noise pollution through the roof and ambulances, police cars and fire enginees stuck anc delayed in this mess. Just because the council asnd tfl can 🤔

Am not moaning about a budget - what budget anyway? I had no letters, emails or any other notifications warning me about the upcoming works, even though I live next door. No one told me: 1 what the proposed work is about 2 why now 3 what is the cost 4 how were the costs calculated - what company was selected to complete the works and what criteria were used.

People living on main roads like South Circular, Lordship Lane, Croxted Road, Grove Vale etc have been treated like rubbish all along. I hope the Grove Tovern is developed into a green space or a block of flats

What work? Two weeks in and we have a hole in the ground and that is it. The major A road blocked for 13 weeks because of London mayor and Southwark council incompetence.
