Well said Peckhamrye I have helped the team on a couple of issues and have also bought some shares My glass is half full! -
I think most locals regard rye lane as buses only and avoid driving on it completely, you can't use it southbound at all and only partly northbound

Forest Hill Road/Colyton Road Roadworks
ontheRye replied to Renata Hamvas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Renata, Can you also report that the light on Colyton rd sticks on red for several sequences, with the result that frustrated motorists give up and take their chances when the FHR lights are red I would also support the comments re the 'green man' timing,it is ridiculously short Thanks -
also on Colyton road I asked the Gristwood and Toms team earlier in week - said taking the "frizzle" off one tree ie all the little branches now coming into bud, completely cut down one of the big plane trees by the park 'because it has a cavity, and could fall down', ditto re the cherry at bottom of Scutari 'because it was diseased' To G&T its just a job, but for us its a bit like losing an old friend

Cyclists BEWARE - Sainsbury's Dulwich
ontheRye replied to AndrewFFF's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I too reported this and the recent cash machine thread to Sainsburys website through their 'contact us' email and got the following reply, "Dear ? Thanks for your email advising us of the thefts that have been taking place outside our Dog Kennel Hill store. ? The safety of our customers and their belongings is very important to us.? We want you to be able to shop with complete confidence and peace of mind and we work hard to provide security and invest heavily in CCTV, uniformed guarding and a range of other measures.? ? I?ve called the store and spoke to my colleague, Ian Haffenden, Deputy Manager at the store.? Ian advised that the security guards at the store patrol the car park as much as possible.? However, Ian will look in to your concerns further in order to see if they are able to have CCTV cameras facing on the bike racks in the future.? ? Please be assured that we take complaints such as this very seriously and we will always try to ensure that our stores are a safe environment for our customers. ? We appreciate you taking the time to contact us and bringing this matter to our attention.? We hope to see you in store again soon. ? ? Kind regards ? Forest Hill Road/Colyton Road Roadworks
ontheRye replied to Renata Hamvas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Travelling home on the 63 yesterday evening, minor miracle, the Peckham rye/east Dulwich rd junction roadworks have been completed and I could see vehicles travelling east filtering right down the rye! Only to find that the same gang have now moved onto the colyton rd/forest hill rd junction with predictable results on traffic, incl the closure of the bus stop opp the co-op on FHR. I agree with all the incredulous comments on these lights being labelled as 'temporary'. They were indeed temporary when initially installed to cope with the lorries carting away spoilage from the Thames Water tunnel, but they have long acquired a permanence and the junction seemed to be working well for both traffic and pedestrians. You really do have to question the logic and sense of this given the alternatives that this money could have been spent on, the situation at the top of FHR is crying out for something to be done, even filling in potholes would have been better! And, I suspect like all/most local residents, I am still waiting to be notified by tfl/southwark of these roadworks -
Renata, I can vouch for the 2 way traffic light phasing improving traffic flow as I got a 63 this morning from Dunstans rd in rush hour, and back this evening, and there were no north/south traffic queues, although east/west still looked bad The right turn filter will benefit eastbound traffic turning into FHR, mad it's taken so long to install one

Traffic lights at the junction of East Dul & Peck Rye
ontheRye replied to Nicholas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I asked James about this in April, here is response "Hi ontheRye, Apparently junction redesign East Dulwich Road with Peckham Rye is in the hand of TfL who are pleading too busy until after the Olympics. Apparently after the olympics they'll review the workload they have and then give Southwark Council timescales. My hunch would be early 2013". My understanding is that Tfl approval is required because the junction is used by buses. As no buses turn right south onto Peckham Rye at this junction, Tfl have no incentive to agree to such a filter. It does seem crazy given the overwhelming weight of opinion. Maybe we should start a petition to Tfl? -

Dangerous junction ( Peckham Rye and East Dulwich Road)
ontheRye replied to el-torcho's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Major problem is tailgating drivers travelling west on E Dulwich rd - put a junction camera in? East bound filter is a must and like many others I don't understand why it's not been actioned before now Like Fleur above, I avoid now at busy times -
Sorry to hear - probably seen the yellow/white one on upland rd - very nice too have you thought about putting a post up on VW camper websites eg http://www.justkampers.com/?ph1=1 http://www.earlybay.com/ http://www.latebay.co.uk/ here's hoping they turn up
