we've got a BWT WS355, installed by our plumber a few years ago to replace an older model which had developed a leak makes a huge difference to water softness and the new model is very miserly on salt usage only slight downsides are that it's not recommended to drink water from cold taps fed by the water softener eg in bathrooms, kitchen tap is straight off mains so OK to drink, and some boiler CH systems don't like being topped up with water softened water so you have to remember to isolate it when doing so however these are minor inconveniences compared to the benefits for your skin, washing and shaving

Stuart road allotments in Nunhead waiting list is closed currently, but usually reviewed at AGM in March - last year it was reopened after AGM but closed within a few weeks later - think policy is to close it when numbers get to 100 - there are 200+ allotments and newbies tend to be given half plots, so list can come down alot over a year - usually notices will be stuck on the gates advising that the waiting is open/closed

Lilolil's mail struck a chord When we locked ourselves out, the front door defeated the locksmith but round the back a stick through the catflap to hook the keys out of the back door lock worked a treat. Needless to say we no longer leave the keys in the door.

Not Sainsburys cos I now park in the m/b bay at the far end, but I did once get one in the Halfords/B&Q car park on the old Kent road. Guess its down to whoever runs the carpark, but have to say m/b parking provision at these stores is generally poor
