Southwark consultation on Peckham gyratory
ontheRye replied to Marguerita98's topic in Roads & Transport
It’s a peak hour bus lane in the section before Nigel Road, west side, not a bus gate, so shouldn’t impact normal traffic heading north from FH Road -
Cash machine outside Post Office scam
ontheRye replied to Jenniewrites's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
“ Do post offices allow cash withdrawals inside? It sounds like no outside cash point is safe now” Forest Hill PO does, so they probably all do -
Knight & Sons. Waste removal. Recommendation.

Another top recommendation for Paul, swift reply to my enquiry to remove old kitchen, came next day and took it away, polite, efficient and fair price, will certainly use again -
Royal Mail Late Deliveries and the price we have to pay
ontheRye replied to a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
so PCN delivered today 16th Oct, issued 4th Oct, contravention date 27 Sept snapped at 15.44 PCN blurb says, 'charge reduced by 50% if paid within 14 days of date of notice" ie full charge £130 reduced to £65 if paid by 18th went online to pay and it then said "PCN will increase to £130 on Sunday 29 Oct" so, are Southwark giving errant drivers a further 10 days to pay the reduced rate in recognition of postal delays? who knows, I paid it today anyway just in case -
Royal Mail Late Deliveries and the price we have to pay

That’s good to know J, I’m expecting one for driving through one of the local school ‘gates’ at 15.50, only noticed a sign on exit. Love the term ‘deemed served’ in their letter, presumably that was drawn up when first class post actually got delivered the next day rather than, as now, weeks later we too had a surprise delivery on Sunday, after none during the previous week last month our postie went on holiday for 2 weeks and yes, you guessed it , we had no post for 2 weeks -
The sign on Colyton is directing taxis eastwards to Strakers road which has traditionally been used for this purpose, see extract from Southwark consultation response. Also, the park is locked at sunset “The GALA team create a taxi pick up and drop off point (PUDO) in an area close to the junction of Strakers Road and Peckham Rye (East).”

Also went on Thurs, no booking but you do need photo identity, eg driving licence plus recent proof of address eg council tax bill -
And in Yama Momo late afternoon as I went past, filming had finished in Bora and one of the film crew helping to put stuff back said it was for a Google advert

we've got a BWT WS355, installed by our plumber a few years ago to replace an older model which had developed a leak makes a huge difference to water softness and the new model is very miserly on salt usage only slight downsides are that it's not recommended to drink water from cold taps fed by the water softener eg in bathrooms, kitchen tap is straight off mains so OK to drink, and some boiler CH systems don't like being topped up with water softened water so you have to remember to isolate it when doing so however these are minor inconveniences compared to the benefits for your skin, washing and shaving

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
ontheRye replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I am an allotment holder on the Stuart Rd, Nunhead, site, and I can vouch that most plots are being worked on, the lockdown and good weather has in fact accelerated activity as traditionally Easter is usually associated with the start of the growing period I think it was Michael Gove on breakfast tv the morning after the lockdown was announced who was asked exactly this question and who confirmed that working on allotments was absolutely fine as social distancing is inherent due to the size of each allotment Our allotment site is managed by a committee of members, the land being owned and leased from Thames Water, as it is on top of the Victorian underground reservoir, which along with its twin under the Acquarius golf course, are still very much in use being connected to the London ring main I think you?ll find that each allotment site is run by its members, rather than the council, and you would have to contact each one to see whether they would consider your idea -
Dance classes for adults - recommendations please

Lindyhop on Sat mornings at the Ivy House is good fun -
Unfortunately, Jamie has thrown the towel in after the incident mac4 mentions above, which was the culmination of a period of harrassment by the perpetrator whose hair Jamie had cut but wasn't happy with it During my last hair cut in mid Dec, he said that he no longer felt safe working on his own; ever increasing rents etc, didn't help either It's a real shame as he had been there for many years and will be missed

There?s another one stuck on the ?Give way/stop? sign at junction of Scutari and Colyton roads Too high to reach and stuck to the sign with strong adhesive Apart from the abhorrent nature of these posters, does this constitute a separate offence of defacing a road Sign?
